Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very nice cafe run by good folks. The first thing that hits you when you walk through the door is the wonderful smell of baked goods.
Unfortunately for me, I’m trying to watch my carbs so couldn’t try any of them. I did have a great breakfast omelet. My wife’s breakfast was good as well.
Service was excellent.

Driving the backroads provides you an opportunity to find places you might not go under other circumstances. We were driving back from Greenville and came across Country Cafe and Bakery. It was a lot better than some fast food place(s) but after Strossners and a couple of others in Greenville the fair here was somewhat limited - however, it was excellent.

My husband and I made a special trip to try this Cafe out. I ordered the cheeseburger plate. It was a really great burger. Mu husband ordered the 1 piece fish plate. It was a piece of frozen fish heated up on the gritle. He was disapointed. He was glad he only ordered the 1 piece meal. We want to try the breakfast, but he works and they are closed on Sat. Can't say we would try again. We went about 1 pm and most baked goods were gone. The piece of cake I got with the cheeseburger special was really good. Not a lot to choose from. We were hoping for a meat and veggi meal, but they didn't offer it. The people were really nice and the food came fast.

The Country Cafe & Bakery is always an excellent choice for anyone coming to Lake Greenwood, or in the Cross-Hill area. The food is always well prepared and ample. Our family loves to pick up several of the baked goods to have on hand for family gatherings. The Caramel Cake is always in demand, and no Thanksgiving is complete without the lovely pumpkin pies. All of the baked items are made from scratch and I have yet to find a better pie-crust. The staff is efficient and very friendly. They are eager to please and will happily take a phone order, and even let you place an advanced order if you are having a party and need extra items. The sourdough rolls are a BIG hit in our family and you cannot beat the prices. Having lived in Lancaster PA. and experiencing Amish cuisine I can honestly say, The Country Cafe always reminds me of home!

The atmosphere is that of a small town rural restaurant where you feel homey. The food is great but the standout are the baked goods! My favorite by far is the coconut caramel cream cheese pie!!! The best pie EVER! I would recommend stopping buy and have a bite.

I am from NJ and eating here was an experience. We sat with another family and had a great time. We left feeling like we ate with friends. Food was really good. We were there for Breakfast and I'm looking forward to going back for a fried chicken lunch.

Food was so good. I had the country chicken platter. Chicken was fresh, home style coleslaw and home made warm roll completed my meal. We also got a red velvet gob, it was out of this world. There is a bakery here with just about any kind of baked good you could want and the prices are reasonable. A must stop when going thru Greenwood area, worth the drive.

I work in Newberry and a co-worker suggested we try this restaurant. Even though it is a bit of a drive it was worth it! I had a hamburger steak drenched in gravy and onions -- next time I'll pass on the gravy it was okay but a bit stronger than my taste. The onion rings I substituted for the fries were excellent -- tasted beer battered. My friend had a cheeseburger with fries and ejoyed it all. We both left with purchases from their baked goods -- he got cheese straws and an apple streudel and I got some rolls and sticky buns. All delicious !
The best part was that we walked out the door with extra purchases for less than just a sandwich at several places in Newberry.
We'll definitely go back.

This restaurant is run by Mennonites and there food is GREAT. If you like Hot Dogs, try theirs, she makes her own chili, not runny and has real meat in it.
They have a great chicken breast sandwich, whole breast!
All their breakfasts are really good.
I no people that drive 60 miles round trip to buy there Bread, Cakes and Pies.

Been eating here for years, the owners have changed but the community has not. Whatever sandwich you get, put it on their sourdough, then take a loaf home. Lots of other baked goods to choose from.
Great breakfast, lunch fare is always good.
They are closed on Mondays, they close after lunch, and they close for family or community events. But they are good, glad they are there!
