When traveling to Myrtle Beach, we always plan our trip to stay in the area, so we can dine here. They have a pretty extensive menu, so take time to browse thru it. We really like the broiled shrimp, and you can either order a small or large order of it, which is nice. We enjoy it with a baked potato and side salad. Their Clam Chowder is also, very good. Service is always very good here, too. It has a large seating area, so don't be fooled with the packed parking lot. It is a must stop for us.

We were seated quickly; quite a few people in the restaurant for us not getting there until 8:00 pm. Waiter Christen came by quickly and took beverage orders. Came back in a few minutes to take our orders. Salads came out very fast, good sized salad and 2 containers of salad dressing. Lettuce was cold, crisp. Husband had the grilled shrimp skewers. Were seasoned with Old Bay, but he stated they could have had more seasoning on them. He did say they were a bit over cooked. I had broiled red grouper. Nice sized filet and flavor was good, but it was over cooked and tough... had to cut it with a steak knife. Did NOT say anything to the staff. We both had baked potatoes as our sides. Good size, hot coming out of the kitchen.
The decor of the restaurant is very nice, very nautical. Didn't need to visit the restrooms. We were staying at the Quality Inn that's in the same parking lot... got a 10% discount with showing room key.
For being a seafood restaurant, they need to work on cooking their entrees.

Stopped for gas, thought we’d check the Blue Ocean out. A long way from the Atlantic, but the seafood was delicious. A bowl of warm hush puppies were brought to the table immediately after being seated. The best I’ve ever eaten. The fried flounder and shrimp were cooked perfectly. The clam chowder was absolutely delicious. Oh, and the sweet tea topped the meal off. Not enough room for dessert, but the homemade cakes on display were beautiful.
The restaurant is clean and restrooms are clean. The service was great. Susan was our server. She was friendly and efficient. The prices were reasonable.
Right at Exit 52 ramp off I-26 in SC.

Next door to our motel, so we tried it. Big mistake! Big bowel of hush puppies complimentary. Good thing because they weren’t worth paying for. Fried dough, no corn, no spices, dry dry. I ordered a bowel of clam chowder. Worst ever, milk with butter and 6 clams. No cream base, no onions,no seasonings, basically clams in hot milk. The calamari was over cooked and over coated.I ordered iced tea the waitress brought sweet tea when I asked for a regular tea she said in the south you can’t get it. She left the sweet tea on the table I didn’t drink it but they billed me nearly 3 dollars for it. I didn’t expect gourmet, but these people need to find someone with basic cooking skills.

Drove past this place when we stopped to find a hotel for the night. The parking lot was almost full at 7:30 so asked at hotel and they said well worth the stop. They were not wrong. Best seafood away from the coast we have had. We were seated right away and no more than got seated and our waitress Kaylen was there to take our drink order. She returned right away with a bowl of the best hush puppies we had ever eaten. I had broiled shrimp and my husband had fried shrimp. Servings were plentiful and food was prepared very well. We had very little wait before our food was delivered. Kaylen made it a nice evening as she checked on us several times, always with a smile. Prices were very reasonable, especially for what you got. Would be a regular customer if we lived close by.

This restaurant right off I-26 is huge and busy, and I could see why. They have a large menu with very reasonable prices and a wide variety of seafood and extras. Service was quick and friendly and I even met the owner who inquired about my satisfaction. This is a surprisingly good place to eat for a roadside restaurant out of town. Highly recommended.

I am stunned that anyone would write a so-so review of Blue Ocean! We had a cabin in NC and for all the years we spent "outfitting " it (actually built the inside ourselves) and the 12-13 years we kept it, we scheduled our trips from Charleston to NC so that we could have lunch or dinner there. The parking lot was always full but we learned on first visit.. it didn't make a difference in fast service and quality of food. Coming from Charleston area, we'd rather go to Blue Ocean than any local seafood restaurant!!!
The prices are amazing ..our first trip up that way in 7 years let us have dinner there on the way to Asheville.. and we were thinking that the prices had not changed that much in 7 years! Wait staff has always been cordial and food .. great! The seafood restaurants in Charleston could take lessons from Blue Ocean!!!! It reminds us of places we dined around Little River, NC for many many years growing up in the Pee Dee section of SC. We tell folks to always stop there when heading up or down I-26!!!

My family and I have been going to Clinton to eat at Blue Ocean for over ten years. The only disappointment was three years ago when they could not get oysters. ALL other experiences have been FIVE STAR. I am 72 and grew up eating fish every week. I have eaten on the coast in several restaurants and not one can match Blue Ocean. We have had fried oysters, fried shrimp, grouper, flounder, catfish. ALL the best! And, their hush puppies and cole slaw are without equal. It's an hour drive fro us from Columbia - and worth it every time. We always leave 100% satisfied. Kudos to Pete, Christen and Susan - a team that makes this an extraordinary experience.

My wife and I had a delicious dinner on a rainy Friday evening. We enjoyed red snapper and grouper. The amount of food for the small dinners was almost more than we could eat. The hush puppies were beyond delicious and we were served a generous quantity of them. The service was very friendly and very good. The prices are very reasonable.

Stayed at nearby motel so thought we'd try. Best fried grouper in a long time. Shrimp linguini Alfredo also good. So much food. There are specials and prices are reasonable. Staff very cordial. Place is really big but they made special effort to sit customers at a reasonable distance from each other. All servers wore masks. Nice touch to start out with yummy hushpuppies. Desserts looked great but just too full to go there. Would definitely return.

I ordered the New England clam chowder, pretty good, nothing special. The grilled shrimp skewers salad was delicious. So were the green beans. They bring out a bowl of hush puppies as soon as you're seated, very tasty. Portions are large, great service.

This is a great seafood place. Staff is congenial and helpful. All the food we had was good: whitefish, shrimp, oysters, grouper, etc. Great hush puppies, sides and clam chowder. Prices right and discounts available if you pay in cash. If you are traveling and stay at the Quality Inn directly behind there is another discount. Cakes looked delectable but we were way too full to try.

Awesome!
Saturday after PC visit with my son. Place was packed, but seated within 5 minutes.
Waitress was attentive and timely. Food was good, fresh, and plentiful. We over ordered and brought at least 1 meal home. The ribeye was very good, flavorful, juicy and cooked perfect, even at a seafood place.
Hope he attends PC so I have a reason to come back frequently

Friendly, fast service, Tania. Great hush puppy fritters/honey flavored. Chilled and crisp salads, many dressing choices. Delicious unsweetened tea. Salmon perfectly cooked and seasoned, lightly steamed broccoli. Broiled jumbo shrimp very good, well seasoned. Crisp onion rings. Frequent refills of drinks and hush puppies. Did not get dessert, but very tempting. Clean, bright, spacious family dining room. Efficient check-out. Fair prices, size-able servings. Pleasantly busy at 5:30 Friday, getting busier but no waiting at 6:30.

It had been YEARS since we ate here, and I was pleasantly surprised at how many non-fried options the menu offered. I had the salmon with rice and broccoli and it was pretty good! Definitely worth a try even if you don’t eat fried foods.
