Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had lunch here. The service was great and the food tasty. The space is wonderful. I could have spent all day here. The prices are not inexpensive but treat yourself.

I returned after a very poor experience last year because a manager recently responded to the review and asked for me to give them a second chance. So, I stopped by with a colleague for a drink after dinner. While the terrace room is sadly...closed (seriously?), the bar is open and faces the lobby. I guess that's what they consider the Palm Court. A full menu of drinks and food are offered. We stuck with the drinks. Service was good and the drinks were reasonably priced. No complaints in that regard. But management and owners aren't even trying. Why even open if you aren't going to make an effort? You have a grand old hotel with an amazing dining room and stately lobby. This could be a bar and restaurant on the caliber of Capital Grille, Eddie V's Prime Seafood, etc. Those restaurants are packed every night. It was also bizarre to see a scantily glad photoshoot happening right in the lobby. I don't know if the hotel authorized it or not but a model wearing next to no clothes (softcore pornography?) accompanied by a photographer with a portable light and tripod were doing photography right by the bar. It was very, very bizarre. All things considered, save your time and money by going elsewhere.More

Two nights in a row, we had desserts and coffee here. We very much enjoyed the chocolate cake and copious serving of raspberry sherbet. Our waitress from Slovakia was so charming. We enjoyed chatting with her. This is our second stay at the Omni Hotel...in Pittsburgh, and we just love the way they are keeping all the old and beautiful fixtures of this hotel especially in the lobby.More

The service was excellent. The breakfast was perfectly prepared (traditional eggs Benedict with properly executed English muffin with delicious potatoes) with excellent coffee. The room is stunning with soaring ceiling and beautiful historical mural.

The Terrace Room, in the William Penn Hotel, is one of the most beautiful spaces in any hotel we've visited. Dinner there used to be a special treat, but the restaurant no longer serves dinner to individual diners. But we were there for brunch. The...selection was diverse if not extraordinary, but everything was of good quality. Just sitting there with a glass of orange juice would be a big treat. A great mural is of Washington's visit to Colonial Fort Pitt.More

I made the mistake of going to the restaurant in the landmark Omni William Penn Hotel for dinner. The restaurant Terrace Room is only open for breakfast apparently but they serve dinner from the bar which includes seats inside the hotel's original formal old dining...room. Despite having a decor and potential atmosphere better then Capital Grille, the food and service was worse than going to Applebee's or Chili's for dinner. That's too bad because Capital Grille's decor and atmosphere is exactly what Terrace Room could be like if the hotel put any effort into their hotel and F&B outlet. Instead of the white tablecloth-covering tables in the dining room, you get seated for dinner either at the bar or on old scuffed tables on the upper level of the lobby. There is no table on the main level of the lobby, despite there being tables. The wine I ordered was warm and the bottle (a split) not even chilled. No bread served with my entree, the salmon. Salmon was dry and overcooked. No effort made at plating and presentation. No offer of dessert or coffee. No refills on water or asked if I wanted a second split of wine. There's a reason why Capital Grille and Eddie V's Prime Seafood were packed while the Terrace Room at the Omni William Penn Hotel was empty. Ironically, the prices were on par with Capital Grille but the overall food and service was worse than Applebee's or Chili's. I wouldn't return.More

We chose the Terrace Room for new Years Eve because it's a beautiful room part of a historic hotel and the food is generally very good. However, for New Years Eve, they removed the table linens and seemed to have turned up the lights giving...the restaurant the feel of a cafeteria. Also, despite the limited menu service, servers were frantically running around the room, tables were not bussed and trays were filled with dirty dishes. We waited over 20-minutes before a server approached our table for a drink order and then waited another 15-minutes for the food order. The food was fair at best obviously made banquet style - Caesar salad was undressed but ate it anyway because server was nowhere to be found. Had to go to the bar to order second round of drinks because again server was missing. Lastly, everything was grossly overpriced - glass of chardonnay $37. Overall, completely mismanaged restaurant despite manager walking the floor - looked like someone straightening out the deck chairs while the Titanic was sinking.More

Visiting family for Thanksgiving we made reservations for the buffet at the Penn Terrace Room well in advance of Thanksgiving day. We appreciated the complimentary valet parking when purchasing dinner there. We were nicely greeted and quickly seated. Our waiter Nick welcomed us and brought...our drink order promptly. Nick did an outstanding job throughout our dinner. The buffet offered an enormous amount of choices including a bread station, meat area, veggies both warm and cold, cheeses, shrimp, crab claws, sushi, and desserts. All items were very tasteful. All of us were very pleased. I had the privilege to speak to the chef who was very polite and friendly with whom to speak. I shared that I had run that morning and he shared some trail info and remembered me when I returned for dessert. Very nice setting and would highly recommend their Thanksgiving buffet.More

This was our first venture into the Omni William Penn Hotel, even though we're Pittsburghers. We ordered the Country Ham and Cheddar Omelet and the Baltimore Benedict; both were very good and served hot. Our waiter, Marty, was very accommodating. The restaurant is beautiful, and...it reflects the William Penn elegance. We will return!More

We have been coming to the Terrace Room for years now. So many good memories of the kids growing up eating the papardelle bolognese. Having a glass of wine by the grass area in front of it. We love eating outside but the new indoor...area is very sophisticated. We had many great dishes over the years and wine from Michigan. Last night we ordered many of the specials and they were amazing! All using summer fresh ingredients. The pasta with zucchini was excellent, the duo faggioli too and the fish with polenta soo good. Then the Italian donuts were very good to end our meal. Enjoy! This place should have more stars! It is very good.More

We took a tour of Pittsburgh and one of the stops was the Omni Hotel. We peeked into the Terrace Room and my husband immediately wanted to eat there. We went for Sunday brunch before our excursion and it was delicious. The room is grandiose...and they have everything you can think of to eat. We enjoyed it enormously and highly recommend that you try it.More
