Tried Proper Brick Oven for first time before seeing Mama Mia. It is right next to the Benedum. Service was great. The drinks were very tasty. Our group had the sangria, a lemonchello drink and another drink worn chambord. All very good. For dinner my...mom and I had a half salad (which was perfect size so that we could have one of their pizzas as main course. We had their white pizza with ricotta and burrata cheeses. It was out of this world. My son had a salad from the specials of the night - which had grilled salmon on it. Full size and he said it was very good also. Then he finished up the pizza. Great find!!!More

We accidentally stumbled upon Proper on our way down to the children’s fireworks for NYE. With only 30 minutes to spare we were worried but we ordered a pizza, ate it and ordered another all in thirty minutes. I will say, they weren’t crazy busy...so I wouldn’t expect it to come that expeditiously every time but it was super convenient given our (unknown to them) situation. The pizza was truly delicious. The staff were all friendly and it’s really conveniently located right downtown. We will definitely stop back next time we’re in town.More

We were recommend this place for dinner. Right on 7th, a block from the River. Super starters, salads, and pizza choices. Service was superb and thank you to Christina for waiting on us. A ton of beverage choices, ranging from wine to all kinds of...beer and specialty cocktails. This night, people eating and running to catch a show. Parking around the corner. Less than a 5-minute walk to the place. We were seated immediately. I had the hummus which was spectacular. It was in itself a meal. Fantastic version of the dish! My wife got the Proper Salad and we split a pizza. Dessert was their awesome and gluten-free chocolate cake. Easy to find and convenient to our hotel. Just a wonderful dining experience.More

Tonight we were disappointed in our dinner. We had three appetizers first—the pizza bread was a hit but the calamari wasn’t as crispy as we would have liked and I didn’t like the sauce. The seven of us each ordered a pizza which was way...too much. Two people could easily share one pizza. The crust bottom was underdone. So we took home four boxes. We had to wait to place our pizza order and then they didn’t all come at once. It ended up being very expensive. We are hoping our air fryer will heat up the pizza to perfection.More

Absolutely wonderful place to eat. Nice atmosphere surrounding the beautiful wood fire oven. We shared the candied bacon and the Calabrian pizza and both were absolutely delicious. The place was very busy, yet Lane our waiter took excellent care of us and made us feel...very welcomed. Our host Amy was equally excellent and her smile and conversation contributed to our wonderful evening. Did I say evening? I meant evenings because we liked the place so much that we came back for a second night the next day. We were happy to see Lane and Amy again and they greeted us with unbelievable warmth and took great care of us. Food was once again delicious and our only regret was that Lane and Amy could not sit with us and share the delicious food that the cooks prepared for us. Thanks for everything and if you ever plan a trip to Montreal, make sure to let us know. Merry Christmas to you both and to the Proper team.More

The food and beer we had was excellent. Service was very, very good too. Had Calamari, Roasted Butternut Squash Hummus with hot fresh Pita bread. Then we had the Black and Gold Pizza. Best pizza we have had anywhere. Nice thin crust and a think...outer crust. So glad we came here, saw the great reviews on TripAdvisor and they weren’t wrong,More

Went to the Andy Warhol museum and this restaurant was right over the 7 bridges bridge. I had a delicious caprese sandwich with a pear, walnut and goat cheese half salad coupled with a firm handshake IPA beer. Our waitress, Vanessa, was lovely and offered...a few IPA samples to help me narrow down my choice and was very attentive throughout the meal. All in all a great place for lunch.More

Usually don’t do places that don’t offer reservations when I need to be somewhere. Very happy we went with this place though. Awesomeness in everything. Candy bacon and pork shanks are spectacular. Pizza is A+. Beer selection is great and I had an amber ale...that I wish I could remember the name. Will definitely be back next time in PittsburghMore

Very quick walk from the Marriott to this restaurant. The Octoberfest beer was really good! The pita bread that was served with the hummus for an appetizer was the best I've ever had! Pizza excellent but my husband did not like his lasagna dish. Didn't...care for the sauce. I would go there again. The environment was great for hanging out with friends and enjoying dinner.More

Arrive early - like shortly after they open because it gets busy and you will have to wait. Food (pizza), service (Christine and host), ambience, beer (saison) were all very good. Not much else to say other than we will go back! Check them out!

We have gone to this restaurant each time we come to Pittsburg. This time it was atrocious. It was 9:40 … said they only had pizza. Not even salads. Told us the only red wine available was a Pinot Nour no white wines. Ordered a...Pinot noir and the male bartender ( who knew nothing about beers or wine) poured the win in a water glass. I told him I wanted a wine glass and he got disturbed. We ordered the pizza…it was terribly undercooked. Will never go back!More

Stopped hear while in Pittsburgh with a group of 10 friends. Great beer menu. Split the very large spinach salad and pasta dish. Both were very fresh. Others had wood fired pizzas. Good atmosphere except the size of this old rehabbed building did not allow...for a lot of seating. Other than that, no complaints from our group.More

We thoroughly enjoyed the Proper Signature Salad of bib lettuce, pears, candied walnuts and white balsamic vinaigrette. Yum! Our order of Margherita pizza with pepperoni was delightful - fresh from the brick oven - with home-made dough that was baked to perfection We selected Riesling...wine and Hounds of Helles lager (from the 30 beers on tap). Each was fresh and tasty. Finally, we ordered the Italian Lemon cake with whipped cream and were amazed by the exquisite taste of this delicate dessert. Our overall rating is a highest “Est Est Est” - meaning the very best. Come to Proper Brick Oven to “Eat, Drink and Be Proper”. The location, staff service, food and drinks will yield a great choice for you!More
