Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best in the strip. Truly they have it all- fresh hot food, a wide variety of fresh seafood, and a whole grocery section as well. Such friendly staff too! Its a weekly staple for me to shop at Wholeys.

This place always has great looking fish and seafood but I come to Pittsburgh for a football game and the drive is five plus hours so I really can’t buy any to take home but it’s great to see it and the products are nice...with some unique stuff here. Great place and they have their own parking lot for shoppers so finding a place is easier.More

Great food! And reasonably priced for the huge amount you get. Everyone there was so nice to explain the ordering and paying process. After you pick up your order there is plenty of seating upstairs.

Step inside to hear the fish frying, see sushi made fresh, and yes smell the fishy scent! It's a true fish market with specials weekly and live lobster in tanks towards the back. We love the lobster rolls!!!! in the summer outside made with a...butter roll hot off the grill or cold lobster rolls inside. We shared one fresh and took two cold one for the trip home! There is fresh squeezed orange juice and the well known lobster bisque soup. Last time we used the bisque over pasta a tasty easy dinner. We love the raw fun experience of the place and some of the food specialty items mostly the lobster rolls.More

Instead of going upstairs being seated and ordering, now you must stand in line, spend a nano second deciding what you want, then another several minutes waiting for your order. It arrives on a tray, you add a drink, then ascend a steep flight of...stairs balancing your food and hoping you don't need the railing. Good to know: there are condiments, napkins, plastic ware up there. Food is ok, very good fish sandwich, so so lobster bisque. Price was fair.More

The spot is a Pittsburgh notable. Seafood kitchen within a seafood market. The market side has an excellent selection of seafood,l … fresh, live, and frozen. The kitchen serves a variety of fried seafood. While it is a legitimate local experience, the food is not...anything to write home about. We had shrimp Poboy, scallop Poboy, and calamari. We are used to Poboys with more flavor and the fried seafood detracts from the sandwich. But it is the local preparation, and I give them credit for that. The calamari was a bit overcooked, but not inedible. Do not expect speedy service. This spot is most notable as a traditional Pittsburgh experience, but the food is not superb.More

We stopped for lunch at Wholey's after looking around the store. The Fish Sandwiches were excellent as were the Onion Rings. Fish was very fresh and not greasy. The sandwich was quite large (we thought the 3 of us could have shared 2 and been...happy). Staff was very nice and it's a fun place to eat.More

My Friend purchased a $100.00 gift card for my daughter as a Christmas gift. My daughter went to check out and was informed that the gift card was not activated. A manager asked her for proof of payment which she provided showing that gift card...was activated and after they reviewed they said there was nothing they could do claiming that $18 was already used. My question is how was $18 used on an unactivated giftcard. So we are out $100.00 . I will never shop at wholeys again and will be filing a complaint with the BBB.More

Great market where you can buy fish to cook later or buy it already cooked. We chose the latter and was not disappointed. Their lobster rolls and crab legs were pretty good. The double chocolate cake may have been better though. It also is somewhat...of a happening.More

Woley is staple in Pittsburgh, they’ve been here for 99 years. A free parking lot across the street and flowers out front. We walked past a line of people picking up fried fish, saw a sushi bar and bought crab legs, lobster rolls and chocolate...cake for lunch. We sat across the street on a picnic table and enjoyed. The market is a real happening with their own sauces and seasoning, Piles of shellfish, fresh fish being cleaned, meats and produce.More

I bought the $5 slider one day - made streetside - the girl buttered and grilled my bun and she hand selected a lot of big chunks of lobster. It was a great deal for $5! The following day my son & I needed a...quick lunch and we grabbed a two pack lobster roll (hotdog roll size) - cold from prepackaged goods. $18 - still a decent value considering you will pay that for one roll at some restaurants. But... sadly the lobster was tasteless? Idk if it needed a bit of butter on it -typically i don't butter my lobster, but.. it the chucks are top were not tasty. And the filler had a bit too much celery. Maybe they got a "bad" batch of lobster? Love the fresh fish and variety in this place!! A must stop!More
