I had the Baja Shrimp taco and caesar salad. The three shrimp were good but the rest of the taco was bland. The salad was disappointing too.

Absolutely delicious. The drinks, the appetizers, the main courses. Everything was just absolutely delicious. Can't wait to go back for more.

I was pleasantly surprised with this place. The fish and chips were cooked perfectly, my mom ordered oysters and she enjoyed them tremendously. We ordered long island iced teas with our meal which were good and the desserts were really nice. I would definitely go...back.More

I had a previous positive experience when they first opened. Let me first say that staff were very nice, and we were quickly accommodated with the outside seating I requested. We tried the calamari first, which was fine. There was nothing wrong with it but...for the price I guess I was expecting more. I chose the shrimp scampi for my entree. The sauce was good, had a lemon flavor which I really liked. The shrimp were large. The toast that came with it was not great. It was way too hard. My Bloody Mary was not good. It was warm and had little flavor. The garnishes looked sad and wilted. The real problem was the wait time on the food. It took a long time for the entrees. It appeared they had plenty of staff but maybe the back of the house was the problem. Too many better options in Pittsburgh then to return here.More

Poor review is mainly due to their bar, filling premium liquor bottles with bottom shelf product. Been drinking premium gin for over 30 years, I know when someone serves me Beefeaters. Sent back first drink, waitress said she watched the bar tender pour gin from...a Tangere bottle for 2nd drink. Sent it back. I will say the waitress Mya was very good, everyones food was delicious, sushi was very good, prices a little high. But I'll never go back because a business tries to "dupe" their customers.More

We wanted to enjoy a lunch where seafood was the primary effort from the kitchen. This spot does not miss the mark in any way. First off there is a full service bar with a wide selection of spirits, plenty of craft brews to choose...and a decent lineup of wines by the glasss. The vibe in the dining room is fun and the background music was up tempo. We began by choosing the lobster bisque as our app, it is creamy in texture with plenty of Maine lobster and a touch of sherry to add complexity. For entres my wife chose a special featuring scallops and U16 shrimp pan seared with a lemon butter drizzle. She raved with every bite and proclaimed how tender both were. It wonderful dish came with japnica rice and asparagus. I felt like a salad with their signiture grilled Alaskan Sockeye Salmon dusted with a blackened seasoning. Perfectly grilled and placed atop mixed greens, carrot, grape tomatoes. For a dressing I had a vinagrette to make things exciting. Service was helpful and timely with all our questions answered with detail. We are out of towners and Luke Wholey's is definately a spot we will return too on our next stay in the Steel City.More

High hopes for this restaurant, given the Name and location. However it was more than disappointing. First off service slow, menu odd and seafood was over cooked. We had heard that Luke wholeys was great, hard to get a reservation and so good. We found just...the opposite. Walked right in on a Friday night, food marginal 😛More

Growing up near the water, you know it's hard to find good seafood the further you get away from it. However I was extremely satisfied with the quality of the Seafood here. A friend mentioned them a few weeks before we went so we gave...them a try. The server was fast, friendly and great to have. She explained, that if it didn't meet their strict freshness test, they would not serve it. We started with the Bloody Mary was delicious, as well as the Rhode Island Calamari. We chose the (Large) Atlantic Cod Sandwich and the (Messy/Delicious) Steel City Lobster Roll, which I started with my hand's but finished using the supplied knife to cut and then eat....use the knife fist, save yourself the time. The decor is cool as well as the staff. It's worth stopping in.More

When a restaurant has this name, one expects to be wowed by an amazing choice of icy-fresh fish and seafood offered in an equally amazing choice of preparation. We found a typical menu with standard fish and seafood options prepared in various sauces and crusts....There were starters, sides, and Sushi but no salads. Sandwiches, Pasta, Tacos, and Entrees were available, a nice choice at meal sizes and price points. Our party had Shrimp and Chips, Shrimp Scampi Linguine, and Lobster Roll. Our meals were good, but nothing special. The wine list was unimpressive, but we found wines we enjoyed. As for people, the ones at the door were curt and distracted, not very welcoming. Our table server was OUTSTANDING, As for ambiance, this restaurant follows the recent trend of taking an old building, gutting it to the rafters, installing harsh little lights way up there, and covering a wall with a mural. And it was So. Very. Noisy. Next time we crave seafood, we'll go to his dad's store across the street and buy it.More

We were looking for a place to eat before an event downtown. The nearby Strip District seemed a good bet but the time constraint meant we needed a place that took reservations (and had availability). Luke's Grille fit the bill. My wife had tuna, I...had swordfish. Both were excellent, with different, well-prepared sides. We shared a superb creme brulee for dessert (alas, espresso not available). Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. We left in plenty of time to make our event. Full bar service includes wine by the glass or bottle -- we each had a tasty glass of pinot gris. Not cheap -- our entrees were $35 each -- but for what you get, not outrageous. If I had to register one complaint -- c'mon, this is TripAdvisor -- it's that the noise level was higher than ideal, not shattering but at times distracting, especially if what you're after is a romantic dinner for two. High ceilings but hard surfaces. In warmer weather I imagine they open the garage-door wall facing the street and this may cut down on the din.More

Host/manager was extremely rude! Talked to our group like we were a bunch of high school kids. Restaurant was extremely dirty and the staff was rude! Coming from a family who owns restaurants, we completely understand current staffing levels and we're willing to wait the...hour we were told. Tried to go to the bar and were yelled at for standing next to our party! Youngest in our party was 54 years old. Walked down the street to Rolands Seafood and had a wonderful experience! Spent over $350.00 there with our party of six and had friendly, fast and great service! Would not recommend Luke Wholey's!!More

We had the crab cakes and the tuna sandwich both phenomenal! The atmosphere was very cool and I would say this is a place you MUST TRY!!!!More

It depends on what day of the week and time of day. We were really lucky that on a Friday afternoon we were able t park on the street right outside.

I do not have a copy of the menu, but is moderately priced and average for the area. There is a 5-7 PM happy hour with special prices on several appetizers, and the Bloody Mary's are very good as well...
