Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just tried for the first time and really enjoyed it. Ice cream tasted very fresh and they had a lot of creative flavors. Definitely recommended.

whenever you visit a college town seek the foodie spots that the students go to for late evening fare; dave & andy's ice cream fits the bill. it was too late to get a milkshake for me as they ran out of milk, so i...went for the vanilla w apple pie ice cream combo in a waffle cone. just great; tons of cool flavors and yogurt too. the line looked long but it really wasnt long till we were served. and you know prices are good when the kids are waiting on line !! thx sarah for taking us on a great visit to schenley park...get me a hammockMore

I am writing this review approximately four weeks after I visited Dave and Andy's. I visited Dave and Andy on June 20th. This was the day before Father's Day. My 38 year old son was in UPMC Hospital with a brain tumor. Because of covid...we could not visit him. Only his wife could be with him. My wife and I had some of Dave and Andy's ice cream. It was some of the best ice cream I have ever tasted in my life. And I eat a lot of ice cream. I went back in to Dave and Andy's and asked if there was a way I could sneak an ice cream into the hospital for my son on Father's Day. They told me that on Sunday as soon as they open I should call and explain what I wanted. They would put the ice cream in a freezer and freeze it solid so that it would be perfect when I got to my son in the hospital. Sunday, Father's Day, I called as I was told to and requested the flavor of ice cream my son wanted. Turtle! At about 2 p.m. we picked up the ice cream and my daughter-in-law wheeled my son to the lobby of the hospital. In the lobby my son and I enjoyed Turtle ice cream on Father's Day. It was the best ice cream we ever had together. If you get a chance and you are in Pittsburgh make sure you go to Dave and Andy's for ice cream. Not only do they make some of the best ice cream I've ever tasted but they made the most memorable Father's Day there could have ever been. That small act of kindness, doing the extra to freeze the ice cream, made it all possible. Six days later my son lost the battle with his tumor. Thank you Dave and Andy's for making Father's Day 2020 really special.More

When we lived in Pittsburgh this was our favorite stop, this is still the case years later. We came here and the place is still the same with the best ice cream around. I got the chocolate chip cookie dough with a waffle cone--yum! My...husband got the birthday cake and cookies and cream with a waffle cone. He's not usually one for sweets, but the birthday cake was the perfect mix of flavor and did not have the artificial flavors you get with store bought brands. Love Dave and Andy's!More

Unlike many places that claim to make their own ice cream, Dave and Andy's actually does, and customers get to see it made right before their eyes while waiting on line. I got cinnamon toast ice cream, and my friends ordered raspberry chocolate cookie ice...cream and birthday cake ice cream. All were delicious. Service was friendly and pretty efficient. Portion sizes are generous, which makes up for the fact that the stuff here is on the pricier side. WELL WORTH the visit!More

Fun little place for great ice cream. Their selection was a little limited and don't expect to sit down but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The place does need a good cleaning but the service was very friendly.

We love Dave and Andy’s - we used to come here all the time when we lived here, and we were able to stop in on a recent trip. It’s still delicious. Go for the homemade waffle cone. My favorite ice cream is their birthday...cake flavor. This place is a Pittsburgh staple.More

This is by far one of the best homemade ice cream shops that we have ever visited. If you are in the area, we highly recommend it.

Homemade Ice Cream and Homemade Ice Cream Cones, how can you go wrong. The store is cash only, but they have an ATM inside. The ice cream was divine and definitely worth a visit.

My son and I were there on a Sunday night over Memorial Day weekend. Now, I've seen the line out the door on other occasions when class is in session at Pitt, but the night we were there we waited only a few minutes since...there were few students around. They have a lot of fun flavors and we both enjoyed our ice cream. If you are in the area it's worth stopping by. There's limited seating but you're in the middle of Pitt's campus, so take a walk around campus while eating your ice cream.More

I love trying different homemade ice cream. Dave & Andy's was so delicious. They were able to give me two half scoops of mint chocolate chips and cookies and cream. To me, and excellent combination. If I am back in the area, I will stop...in again.More

This is a tiny ice cream shop in the Oakland neighborhood. The day I went, there were 15 flavors on offer, including several atypical options (zucchini bread? Root beer?). I'm more of an ice cream traditionalist so I got coffee chocolate cookie in a waffle...cone. Was it life changing? No. But it was a delicious treat. (Traveler's Tip: it's cash only here. Small cone is $3 and large $4.50)More

There was a long line but this place had been highly recommended. It was good but there didn't seem to be anything spectacular or line worthy. There are 2 small tables and the inside is very small. I think it would be a struggle to...come in in a wheelchair though it seems possible.More
