Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We ordered five tapas, we received four of them within 12 minutes. TERRIBLE service. The food was okay but nothing special.

We were in Pittsburgh only one night. Saw the menu and loved the choices. We ordered four tapas, repeated the order because they were outstanding!

I visited Morcilla with two family members and was super excited to try it given the rave reviews. My reservation was for 4:45pm but, after checking Google and Morcilla’s website earlier that day, I saw the restaurant didn’t open until 5pm so that’s exactly when...we arrived. The hostess told me I was late, so I proceeded to tell her I thought they opened at 5pm. She then told me they opened at 4pm because of “holiday hours,” which were nowhere to be found on the restaurant’s website. This really out a bad taste in my mouth from the get go but I did my best to not let her sour our experience. Our waitress, on the other hand, was much warmer and recommended a couple of very good dishes. For dinner we ordered bacalao rebozado (cod cheeks, 2 per order), oxtail montadito (DON’T miss this “snack,” 3 per order), radicchio and citrus salad (delicious, as recommended by our waitress), costillas de la matanza (tender spare ribs, 4 per order), and arroz con pitu (half a chicken over a light bed of rice; the closest you’ll get to paella at this restaurant). Overall, I loved the caramelized onion taste and tenderness of the oxtail, the citrusy flavor of the salad, and the roasted chicken in the large plate. Overall, the food was very good but I wish they had more traditional Spanish tapas—think patatas bravas, Spanish tortilla, gambas al ajillo, etc. I love some modern tapas but the time-standing ones would be a great addition to the menu. The ambiance is intimate. There’s a small number of tables and about 8 seats at the bar. It’s a good place for a date night. The dining room is pretty low-light, so get ready to use your phone for extra lighting. Would I visit again? Yes, and I’d try more things on the menu.More

Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, recommending we order eight small plates for three people. The service was well-paced, food was varied and tasty. The salt cod croquettes were wonderful and we really enjoyed the fried artichokes. The sherry selection was excellent. It was a...little noisy on a Saturday night but apart from that it was hard to find anything that could be improved. In addition, they were taking COVID-19 precautions seriously, with all staff properly masked, and all customers have to show proof of vaccination.More

The only thing keeping me from a 5 star review was dessert. The shrimp was awesome. The ribs were exceptional. The trout was very good. The radiccio and citrus salad was very good as well. We were stuffed, but on a whim ordered the burnt...cherry cheesecake to go. Both myself and my date felt it was the worst cheesecake we have ever had. Very disappointing ended to what was a great dinner!More

A client and I had dinner at Morcilla last night. The food, service and atmosphere were incredible. I told our server, Ally, that our tapas were as good as the food we ate in Spain last year. Highly recommend and already planning to go back!

The steak tartare had a uniquely delightful twist on the traditional. Fantastic! Our server recommended it and it was spot on! Enjoyed every morsel of every plate and was happy for some excellent guidance in ordering, since it was our first visit. The draft wine...was more than potable and brought me back to tapas bars in Madrid. Will be back for sucking pig, when I can gather several foodies for a real repast!More

I had wanted to dine here for quite some time based on reviews I had read. Recently, we hosted out of town guests, including a friend with a Basque background, so it seemed llke the perfect time to give it a try! As a group...of eight, we ordered the "Family Feast". The meal was wonderful, and it was great fun to talk about the food we were all sharing. The service was also terrific and we appreciated the fact that we were allowed to substitute a lighter dessert after eating the several courses. Everyone came away raving about our experience!More

Absolutely loved my first experience at the well talked about Morcilla restaurant located outside of the city. My friends and I agreed on the family style four course dinner and were not disappointed. This was referred to us by our waiter for any first timers...because its a variety of their best dishes and they portion them our perfectly based on how many are in your party. The homemade sangria is also excellent and they make their own gin too! Make reservations well in advance and the dress code is casual but you can certainly dress it up if you'd like. Street parking can be hard to fine so try to get there early. I will return!More

My spouse and I dined at Morcilla for dinner on a Saturday evening in late August 2019. Morcilla is open for dinner Wednesdays through Mondays (closed Tuesdays). Diners can reserve a spot using the online Open Table reservation system. Morcilla opened in 2015 in a...storefront in Lawrenceville; just a year later, it was a James Beard Foundation Award semifinalist for Best New Restaurant. The name “Morcilla” refers to a Spanish blood sausage, which the restaurant serves. The front of the space offers a long bar (the very end seats of which adjoin the (sometimes open) front window. The middle of the restaurant offers seating at stand-alone tables for about 50 patrons, while the rear offers an open kitchen. Décor features earth-toned paint, exposed brick, wood paneling, and even some food ingredients (the cured ham legs are used in their dishes). The owner of Morcilla also operates nearby Cure (where we dined in September 2017; see our separate review). Morcilla serves Spanish cuisine in a tapas (small plates) format. We ordered five dishes to share, including the salt cod fritters, braised oxtail montadito (stacked on a crisp crostini with onion and cheese), a charcuterie board (with four or five meats), mushrooms (topped with an egg yolk and served with bread slices), and the pulpo (octopus plated atop potato fondue). For dessert, we shared a frozen version of creme brulee. We loved our tapas meal at Morcilla; the food and service were excellent.More

We came here solely on the great reviews. When we came in, the atmosphere was good. We read the menu and was a little concerned, but we have trusted reviews and had great results in the past. We took the waitresses advice and ordered about...7 things off the menu. Each and everyone of them was amazing. I couldn’t recommend trying this place more. It’s one of the best dinners I’ve had in the past year.More
