Yummy Fish sandwich

So I had read all the reviews about the fish sandwiches so I had to try it. we just got takeout and took it to a picnic table on the river in new Brighton. It was a lovely experience -it was like sitting in a tree house having dinner in the cool shade. Very refreshing on this 90° day. The fish was a large portion and delicious -it wasn’t as crisp as I would’ve liked but that might be because we got as takeout and it took at least 20 minutes to get to where we were going to eat. But it was very flavorful and the french fries were tasty too ! I’ll be back!

Best chili around! Famous fish is awesome and a local favorite. Never had a bad meal there and the staff is awesome!

Great Food Huge Servings Big Beer List

Everyone local knows that this is the place to go for a Big Fish sandwich. I prefer the Pittsburgh style with fries and slaw on the sandwich. Super tasty and fast service. Some picnic table type seating is great for a group. Bar is very cozy with a dozen or so craft beers on tap and many more in bottles. Very busy on Fridays and parking somewhat limited when busy . Good good good food!

Fantastic!

We dropped in at lunchtime completely unannounced with 35 people, half of them 8 year old boys! We were in town for a baseball tournament. Not only did they seat us but had us in and out in a little over an hour! The food was fantastic and service could not have been better! Could not be happier with our experience and hope to be back next year!

OH MY!!!! Bring your appetite because they have the BEST Pittsburgh FISH Sandwiches around!! Even a half a sandwich is a challenge to the best of those who can EAT! I can do 1/4 a sandwich and it sure is GOOD! Other things to chose from too!

Best Fish Sandwich

We stopped here last night after our son’s baseball game in Beaver Falls. We are not familiar with the area at all so took a chance here & I’m so glad that we did! The service was excellent. We were a party of 8 with 4 of them being children (not an easy table), but our waitress was patient, friendly, & quick. They had a very large beer selection so that was nice too. The fish sandwich was the best I have ever eaten & I order them almost anywhere that has them. The small-sized sandwich still had a huge piece of fish. It was battered & cooked perfectly. It melted in my mouth. The only negative was that the tartar sauce was made with sweet relish which I don’t like. The fries were delicious. My husband ordered a large “Pittsburgh” sandwich & it was literally 2 sandwiches...would definitely do the smaller size next time. They had many flavors of wings but we were disappointed to learn that they did not have mild. So my son ordered hot & they were too hot to enjoy. It was just straight Tabasco with what appeared to be cayenne sprinkled on them. They weren’t the saucy style that we prefer. We would definitely stop here again when we are out in that area!

If you are interested in a casual place, with very good food/huge portions, then you will like Back Door. The biggest draw of this place however is the beer selection. You can walk in and anticipate over a hundred different selections, from all over. Mainly bottles, but a few rotational drafts are always available. I would highly recommend it. It can get a bit busy at the typical times, and they do seem to have slightly unusual hours. Since it is a bit off the beaten path, they don't seem to get busy from passer by types, but they are still so popular among the locals, that you can usually expect a wait. I try to go during off-peak times, and sit at the bar.

We were searching for a place to eat on our way to Beaver Valley Mall. Back Door Tavern had good reviews on Trip Advisor so we tried it. Service was great-Dan was our waiter and he was very friendly and attentive. I had a Reuben and chips,which was huge and delicious. My husband had a burger and chili,which was also very good. We would definitely recommend and plan to come back again.

The comfort food is good but the menu a bit limited. We went on a Tuesday night. Onion rings, jalapeño poppers and fish and chips were good. But the nachos were nasty- it was all out of jars or cans and tasted terrible. It was a pity, because I like the vibe here and enjoyed my previous visit. This place fell in my estimation.

A neighborhood gem - very tasty fish, shrimp and more. Great beer selection too!

Even though this restaurant was quite crowded at 5:30pm we were promptly seated in a quiet section of the dining areas. Our group of 4 enjoyed delicious dinners served by a great waitress. The batter used for the fried cod and shrimp was excellent - light and flavorful, not greasy at all. The coleslaw was perfect, as were the french fries. Portions were generous and the service exceptional. Notable beer selections and a few popular wines available. Highly recommended if you like a tavern style atmosphere. We would return if not so far from our town!

Greatest Fish Sandwich Around

I’m always looking for the best fish sandwich in Pittsburgh. On the recommendation of a friend my wife and I gave it a try. From the outside it doesn’t look that great but inside is a very quaint and clean restaurant. A great looking old fashioned bar and a large selection of craft beers. The fish sandwich was huge! My wife ordered the small fish so I thought I’d get the large. Mine came with two giant pieces of fish. I had fish left over for dinner that night and lunch the next day. This is truly worth a visit to have a great tasting fish sandwich.

Amazing fish!!!

I went here on a whim for the first time with some friends and we all got different types of fish dinners. They were all excellent! The biggest plate of fish, fried and mac n cheese I've ever had and everything was delicious! The waitstaff was wonderful and service was prompt. The prices were excellent for the amount of food we received. I will definitely be going back soon!
