About
( Winter Only) The fully licensed a la carte restaurant and bar has been part of Thredbo folklore for several decades. We feature both Australian and international cuisine, however, a favourite with our patrons and specialty of the house is fondue. Boasting the same unsurpassed views as the restaurant and your room, the bar has European beers and imported Schnapps and fine Australian wine on offer and for those sometimes important not to be missed occasions we also have ski movies running in the bar. A feature of any stay at Candlelight Lodge is to join the other guests in the bar and on the deck to watch the weekly flare run before fireworks light up the mountain each Saturday at 6pm during the ski season.

A lovely evening at Candlelight lodge. The staff were friendly and attentive. The cheese fondue was excellent - good selection of meat, veg and bread for the fondue and excellent portions. The chocolate fondue was a great finisher - seasonal fruits and marshmallows and very reasonable size servings. A winner all round.

We just had the best afternoon and evening at this fabulous bar and restaurant! We sat out on the terrace enjoying a drink and live music on a lazy Sunday afternoon looking out at the amazing view. Then we moved inside for a wonderful dinner! Loved the atmosphere, it is cozy, funky and had an amazing vibe and it was really pumping. Food and service were excellent. After a really bad experience at another local restaurant last night (Berntis) where the service was so appalling we left, finding Candlelight was an unexpected joy. We will be back and, highly recommend. PS, the chocolate fondue for dessert is to die for.

We ate here twice between Christmas and New Year and enjoyed our dinners both times. The fish of the day and lamb rack were delicious and came with tasty salads. One night we had the duck special which was great. They also offer quirky 1970s European dishes like cheese fondue, which didn't really appeal to us. They have a good wine list and a great range of German beers. I enjoyed a very smooth dark (dunkel) beer more than a Pilsner, which wasn't so different from Australian beer. Service was very friendly and efficient, although not sophisticated.

We were warmly greeted and received a thorough explanation of the menu. My wife enjoyed her cod and one other of our party enjoyed her lamb.
Three of us had the veal schnitzels, which were tasty but tough and swamped in salt in the sauce. This wasn’t marginal, but as if three times the amount of salt was used leaving your mouth feeling dry or almost burnt by the excess.
We ordered a bottle of 2014 Argentinian Malbec, but were served a 2018, with no explanation or price reduction. When questioned about this it was fobbed off.
For desert we had the Swiss roll with coffee sorbet. The roll was very dry with virtually no flavour.
A very disappointing experience and one that will ensure we never return

My GF and I had the pleasure of staying here just prior to the official opening of the ski season. It was also COVID so our expectations were that we may be limited in what was open in the village and that the restaurant at the lodge was closed for dinner. There was only the hotel open for dinner so not a lot of choice. We stayed in a great cosy and comfortable room with an outlook to the slopes. Not much snow yet but beautiful nevertheless. We were greeted by managers Rachel and Andy. They made our stay special. They served up a great hot breakfast every morning. When we came back from dinner at the local hotel, they opened up the bar for us, had the fire going and had Andy’s music playing. They went out of their way to make our stay special. It was my first time in Thredbo, it was extremely quiet however Rachel and Andy made our stay so enjoyable. We hope to be back when the restaurant is open and try their fondue cheese and more German beers. Highly recommend you stay.

We stayed in the lodge and dinner here one night. We had a delicious traditional alpine meal. I'm only sorry it was too filling to fit in some of my favourite alpine dessert. Very cozy, we were seated in the bar area which had a fire. Staff very quick and helpful and friendly. Would recommend and also hope to return.

The food at this restaurant was amazing. The staff were also exceptional. Even though they were busy, they fit our last minute booking of 12 people in without any issues. We had entrees, mains and desserts and all 12 of us said it was the best food we have had during our whole week away. Wish we had found them earlier in our holiday.

Booked for dinner on an old non updated menu (we found out when we arrived) staff were the must rudest I have experienced. I worked in Hospitality for 40 years and if any of my staff behaved like that when we declined and left, would have been fired on the spot. Appalling
Not like the days I remember at the Inn.

We dined in summer but I bet this is even more cosy on a cold winters night. Regardless, we enjoyed the food (duck and then veal), and the nice cold German beer with plenty of choices. The atmosphere and bar said stay for a couple of drinks after but we had to move on but I'd love to go back for a few drinks on the balcony which is allowed (no need to have a meal). I also enjoyed the choice of background music. A good experience all round.

Could get a more perfect location and accommodating staff!
Annie was amazing from the time I booked. She helped with room choice, booking in after hours, picked us up after a long walk and was just super friendly and helpful. I’ve never had this level of care and service anywhere in the world!

Dont let the exterior deceive you. This is one of the best value places to stay in Thredbo. Very warm and friendly welcome. Room was clean and very functional. Breakfast was great, and one of the best continental breakys around. Downstairs bar is a real hoot, and lends itself to a real fun night out. But best of all was our host Annie, who went above and beyond to ensure that our group had a fantastic stay. We'll be back!

Had dinner here and was very impressed by the cosy feel and rustic charm. The food was amazing! We ordered way too much and could not finish our fondue main. What a great experience that was though! The staff were fabulous: very accomodating and helpful. We will be back for sure!

Thanks to the new managers Shayne and Bec, absolutely fantastic hospitality and service for our builder teams Xmas party. Friendly, happy, great food, tunes and vibe was awesome. Consider Candlelight for functions, holidays or an Arvo larger.
The views are spectacular, and the Staff are incredible.
Thanks again from the SouthPeak builder teams.
