Food and ambience

Family run since 1983, on offer is a simple, seasonally focused, Italian inspired menu that changes daily. We deeply care about being sustainable, using amazing produce (some fruits and vegetables grown on site) and providing friendly professional customer service, along side a fantastic wine list. This all translates into the buzzing energy of the restaurant with Live Music on the weekends & a bocce/petanque court in the summer months. Set in a old Grade 2 listed butchers, feel our warm and relaxed atmosphere whether dining indoors or al fresco in our beautiful summer garden. Located close is Twickenham Rugby Stadium, only a short taxi, bus or train ride away.

Highly rated so we visited, midweek. No outside tables which is fair enough as we hadn't booked. Decor grubby and outdated, certainly not Italian. Served by owner, friendly although all staff didnt look overly professional dressed in leggings and trainers. Food was okay, T steak...undercooked as ordered medium and it was still bloody and virtually raw at the bone. Overall overpriced meal. Not too impressed at the evening and a large bill just about finished it off.More

We have lived in Twickenham for years and never been to Shambles before. Our mistake I must admit. A fantastic restaurant with fantastic food and drinks to die for. The staff were brilliant, the food choice was varied and well presented. The taste was out...of this world, we will return and have another tremendous afternoon at the Shambles.More

Really friendly staff and most importantly, really good food, Starters were all great, but the (cornish) squid was especially nice. My wife had the prawns which were also really good. Roast beef was exceptional, tender and perfectly cooked. Only down side is price of wine...- quite expensive, especially for large glasses (circa £8-£15 p/ glass We will go back again for sure though.More

We had a large group booking for lunch and all had a fabulous time. We pre-ordered for 21 people and the food and service on the day were exceptional. Would highly recommend.

We had a large booking for a team meal at Shambles and couldn't have been more impressed with the food, service, atmosphere etc. Massimo and his team really went above and beyond to ensure a streamlined meal including pre ordering wines / food and any...special requests that we had. The food was amazing - I really recommend the steak! The staff were all super attentive and friendly! The atmosphere was lovely.More

I booked this place as my friend was leaving to back to the States. I made a telephone booking and was told we will get a table in the retractable roof area. My friend arrived before me and informed me that she got a table...with rain hammering downl on her. She had to insist to be moved. I arrived and found that I had to ask for everything...blankets...drinks....service.. We were rushed to order. The lobster pasta was put of this world as was my ox cheek main. Espresso martinis were gorgeous too. What let this place down was the service. Without any warning we were told we had to leave (midway through dessert and cocktail). This would have been acceptable if I had been informed prior to booking that there was a time limit. It really ruined our experience and we left disappointed to the point thinking we wouldn't got back regardless of how good the food was..our waiter (male) was obnoxious and clueless. So disappointed as the food was top notch.More

Can’t fault the restaurant for the food; it was tasty and innovative but albeit overpriced, but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the deplorable service. When my friend made the booking she was never told that there was a time limit on the...table. We had just taken a sip of our espresso martini and the server came over asked to settle up and leave as they needed the table. Mind you there were two tables that were there before us and they weren’t asked to leave. There were also many tables unoccupied which we could have moved to. I first arrived the table which was originally reserved for us was soaking wet; I asked to move and the waitress seemed put out but eventually the manager moved us. There are far too many superior restaurants in the area to revisit.More

My husband and I would like to thank Shambles restaurant and Winebar for a very excellent service. Special thanks to Massimo and Margherita for answering and accommodating our requests to the best that they can for the micro wedding reception we arranged with them. Our...friends and family commented on how nice the space provided for us was greatly set up as well as how they enjoyed the foods and drinks served. The ambience of the restaurant was also very much how my husband and I imagined it to be. Despite the cold wind, we had a very relaxed and great time with our 15 guests at Shambles. Even though it was very windy, they also managed to serve our food hot. Excellent customer service and compliments to the chef. We will definitely be back at Shambles restaurant again.More

Once again we had an absolutely amazing meal and experience at Shambles in Teddington. A complete treat. Incredible choice of Italian food - it was extremely hard to choose! The food was absolutely fantastic. Lucky enough to enjoy a lovely evening outside and spoilt with...incredible service. It felt like we were on holiday but just a short walk away from home. Thank you for looking after us so safely in this pandemic time. We will be back very soon i hope.More

Came here for a drink and a bite to eat. Got placed into the shade on a cold day asked various members of staff if we could be moved as there were plenty spare tables in the heat however we were completely ignored. Steak sandwich...brought out as just steak with chips then put back into a sandwich with no chips! Asked if we could have the chips to which the waitress blanked replied no with no explanation why. Came out with one beer everytime we asked for two just an absolute joke really we were completely ignored the whole experience the staff really do not know how to serve people do yourself a favour and give this place a miss unless you have approximately 4 hours for a sandwich and the patience of saint ! Sloppy service !!More

I would have thought so - they have a piano player on a regular basis - if you have a party likely you’ll have one area and should be room for a small band/quartet etc.
