Service is always amazing and a great atmosphere but (and I hate that I am even thinking this) the food is not what it used to be. The last few times I have been the food has been disappointing but I have thought maybe it...was a one off and brushed it aside, but after three visits now this seems to be more normal than one offs and it pains me because I usually love the food here. Mainly just not got the edge it used to have, chips not as nice and portion sizes reduced. Still okay but hoping it returns to what it used to be.More

My cousin and I found this pub thanks to Google. A friendly voice confirmed there was a table spare when I called to check and remembered me when we arrived. We sat in the pleasant beer garden in the end and enjoyed food from a...good menu with splendid draft beers. Thanks to the staff too, smiles all round!More

Busy local pub that also serves food. Very popular with locals. Has seperate dog friendly area too. Had fantastic fish and chips whilst my mother had the sea bass. Starters of thai crab cakes and calamari were delicious and generous (especialy the calamari with salt...and pepper). Service by a young lady on her first day was faultless. 2 course meal for two with a pint of bitter and a bottle of wine came to £48.50! Strongly recomend.More

My twin brother Stephen and I decided to drop into The Pilot Boat Pub and what a very pleasant visit this was. I love the look of this pub ,a traditional interior, an olde world look,a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, nice...decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, a really good pub to chill out in. We were here on a Saturday afternoon, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the staff, we gave our details of name and phone number to assist with the governments track and trace system, we had a quick study of their beer range and we both opted to have Sharps Brewery " Doom Bar " and these were served in excellent condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and planned out the day ahead while sipping our real ale's. My pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced, full bodied pale ale, hints of caramel, a big hit of hops, very easy to drink, a classic British pale ale indeed, my twin brother Stephen also gave me a thumbs up to his pale ale. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although we only stayed for the one each before we moved on as on every other visit to The Pilot Boat Pub we had a very pleasant visit. The Pilot Boat Pub is easy to locate along Magazine Brow. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, Midday till 11pm. A great pub,if your in the area most definitely well worth checking out.More

When we were there a few weeks ago there were a couple of our four legged friends in there who were well looked after so in my opinion dogs are most definitely welcome.
