Came here on the spur of the moment for lunch and so glad we did. Pleasant restaurant with plenty of space between the tables. The young lady waiting at our table was very pleasant and didn't hesitate to check with other members of staff when we had a query. We all enjoyed our meals, the cod and chips looked and smelt delicious. Desserts were enjoyed by some members of the group who were impressed by the size of them - certainly no small portions here. At the end of our meal the waitress advised us that she had only been working here a short time, we were all very impressed with her pleasant nature and her hospitality, a great asset to the business.

Bar staff welcomed us with a lovely smile, which was an initial good impression.
A bottle of water was served on the table(free), ales from the bar were well kept.
Steak served medium impeccably and fish n' chips was great, very crispy with huge chips served piping hot. Local ice cream to finish the meal was also nice. We do recommend this dog-friendly country pub if you are in Castle Combe. Mind you though, it's quite popular, so best to book in advance.

Thank you so much Spiranian for such a lovely review. It is always good to hear about people's experiences with us at the Salutation Inn. It is especially nice when the words are so wonderful! We want all of our customers to feel like they have had a 5* experience so you giving us this 5* review really helps us feel like we are achieving that goal. Once again thank you so much for your kind words and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Lovely atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff. All roast dinners fabulous plus great fish and chips for one family member. It was very busy but all food and drinks arrived in timely manner, they even made time to bring a bowl of water and treats for our dogs. Puddings great too and lovely coffee. Very good value, couldn’t fault the experience. Will definitely be back again.

Had a birthday here party organised for my 60th. We were given a delicious selection of food to choose from . The staff were so quick and helpful in corresponding to emails that were thrown their way. On the day, the party organisers were allowed in to decorate the barn which in itself is a beautiful setting . The food itself was absolutely delicious. I had the Teriyaki ribs, followed by the salmon ,and ice cream for pudding. Both the waiting staff and those in the kitchen are a credit to the Salutation Inn. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and to please a party of 32 people says it all. I for one shall definitely be back.

This is a really nice pub, great for Sunday lunch but still retaining a cosy bar for enjoying a drink as well. The food was typical pub fare but very well cooked and presented and prices are quite reasonable.
The restaurant is in a historic barn and has a comfortable feel about it, especially when the log burner finally got going !
We also thought that all of the staff who served us were both friendly and efficient, despite the fact that the Inn was very busy on the Sunday of our visit.

Great quality pub food served by a friendly, engaging waiter.
The menu isn’t vast but we ordered the fish and chips and a cheeseburger which were both really good. The chips were perfect and the fish arrived in crispy batter with no skin on.
We had eaten at the Castle Inn ( Castle Combe) the night before and the fish and chips nearly matched it!
Charlie served us with great enthusiasm and engaging character.
This place really surpassed our expectations!

Nothing to say except that we got lucky we found a table at this pub on a Sunday. The food is great and the staff very nice and friendly. The a-la-carte menu seemed really interesting but we couldn't try it as the Sunday roast was on (I'm not complaining lol)

The Sally is unusual in that it excels at providing great food, beer and ambience whether you are looking for a pub classic meal in the bar, a three course lunch or dinner, or a group meal for your friends, club or society. Over the last 4 months I have experienced all three - a quick pizza after Cricket, a birthday lunch for the family, and a annual sports club dinner for 35 covers. In all cases the food was excellent (e.g. sticky toffee pudding to die for!) and to cap it all, they really know how to keep beer. A proper pub and restaurant.

We were a group of eight- the service was excellent and they were very accommodating as we ate late on a Sunday evening. The roast dinners were cooked so well and the portions were a great size. The place is beautiful, we found no faults and would highly recommend

Thank you for your amazing review, it has put a smile on our faces to hear how much you enjoyed your experience here with us for Sunday Lunch, that is exactly how a Sunday afternoon out with family and friends should feel like :-)
We look forward to seeing you again in the future, perhaps next time you can enjoy our outside garden area to enjoy a leisurely lunch. Once again thank you for your kind words.

Not as good as before. The gluten free fish and chips used to be ‘historic’. But this time they were ruined by a ghastly ‘industrial ‘tartare sauce that was inedible. Mushy peas would be nicer than the ‘garden peas’ (bullets) I chased around my plate. But as always the ambiance and service was lovely. Just the cooking let the side down. Hope it’s a temporary blip and they get back on track soon.

Popped in for lunch after a lovely circular walk round Castle Combe. Friendly welcome despite the muddy wellies and the doggo. Staff friendly and helpful an doggo got a good fuss and a treat. Lunch delivered at a good speed and delicious, I’ve been wanting to try a crispy poached egg for ages and it was perfect. Best BLT sandwich I can remember with quality tasty bacon. Wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Beautiful pub just outside castle Combe, lovely atmosphere. Staff were brilliant. Had roast beef and roast pork, meat was cooked perfectly. Came with all the usual side bits, the veg was good variety and done really well. Highly recommend.

My Wife and I ate at the Salutation Inn several times whilst on holiday at Castle Combe. Every meal was excellent and cooked to the highest standard. The service received each time was impeccable made even better by the friendly and welcoming staff especially Ella. We highly recommend the Salutation Inn for Sunday Lunch but you will need to book as it is popular with both Locals and tourists. If you can't do Sunday Lunch then the weekday menu has an excellent choice for all tastes. This is one of the best restaurants that we have eaten in and cannot recommend it highly enough.

After a frantic few phone calls on a hungover Sunday morning, we managed to secure a booking for The Salutation for a last minute roast. Luckily they had a cancellation.
On arrival we were warmly welcomed and before long we were sat eagerly anticipating our Sunday Roasts.
The food, ladies and gentlemen, was sublime.
I went for beef after a coin flip to ascertain the hardest of questions. Beef or Lamb?
The spuds were on point and it all came with a cheeky bit of extra gravy alongside the seasonal veg (also on point!).
If there is one thing I've learnt about The Salutation from my experience it would be to make sure I book to avoid disappointment.
The best roast dinner (from a roast dinner snob) in the surrounding area, by a country mile!

Stopped in for Sunday lunch. Nice pub with outside seating and a busy corner to watch the world and the classic cars go by. The service was professional and pleasant and food arrived in good time. For a Sunday lunch it was all good except for the meat. The lamb was cooked well but fatty so there was very little actual meat on the plate.
The veg was all cooked nicely and tasty, our friends had battered fish and chips and said it as good, although the fish was not that big for the price.
A good solid Sunday lunch, could be excellent with better quality meat.
