Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a lovely dinner at Jacqueline last week. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of white wine and shared a number of small plates so I could get all kinds of different seafood. We had the lobster bun, yellowtail crudo, Dungeness crab toast, and squid ink pasta. I thought the first three were awesome and squid ink pasta pretty good. We ended the meal with lovely peanut butter brownie dessert. I would definitely go back next visit!

Our daughter, who lives in SE Portland, took my wife and me to Jacqueline for dinner this past February before the pandemic hit. We shared a couple of platters of oysters with the sauces in the eyedroppers. I had the whole fish, which I devoured and left only the skeletal remains. Our daughter had taken us to Jacqueline during a visit two years ago. It is one of her favorite restaurants in Portland,

We had two seats at the end of the bar (closest to the wall) great seats, fun atmosphere, amazing cocktails, wine, appetizers, and an fluid team delivering the best meals we’ve had in a long time!
The entire staff works so well together and it all shines through in the food, the energy and the overall experience. We are so happy we made the reservation to come here. Highly recommended and well worth the price. Wow, the food was so good! Burrata, oysters, smoked black cod, and the halibut, so fresh and so tastey just unreal.

We arrived early for the $1.00 oysters and $10.00 glasses of Oregon Pinot Gris (happy hour 5 to 6:00 and limit 2 dozen oysters). They are shucking oysters like crazy behind that bar, so fresh, and most delicious. The oysters came with five different selections of sauce for you to try out, all interesting, but we mainly stayed with the simple squeeze of fresh lemon. From oysters on the half-shell starter, we selected the whole cedar planked trout. It comes out looking like the whole fish, but it has been deboned from the inside. You’re left with just lots of yummy cedar planked trout and no bones to deal with. It was excellent and while it appears to be the priciest item on the menu, it was well worth it and it’s a sizable trout that the two of us shared and it filled us up. Of course we did start out with one dozen raw oysters each and burata with apricots and Marion berries!

We got there early enough for oyster happy hour ($1 per shucked oyster). Jacqueline serves its shucked oysters with small eyedropper bottles filled with different vinegars and sauces. The oysters were excellent and some of the sauces were standouts. We got a series of small plates to share. Portions aren't large, but the food was both creative and delicious.

Oysters were good. Service terrible. Manager, terrible. Beware self-serving staff, and management. Customers are business, but not as important as the staff. Avoid this self-serving restaurant!

In a city with lots of good seafood restaurants Jacqueline is outstanding. Oysters at happy hour (5-7PM) are superb quality and a bargain at $1 apiece. We had 4 dozen. Other excellent appetizers were Wagyu steak tartare (OK, not seafood but delicious) and smoked black cod with mildly pickled chanterelles. The only main our party of 4 had room for was terrific king salmon. We did manage 2 portions of their wonderful goat milk pannacotta with cranberries and waffle crumbs. Reservations are essential.

This was the best meal I’ve had in a very long time. We all enjoyed trying various dishes. Quality ingredients made with love and care. We enjoyed oysters, sweet potato rolls, salmon entrees, Radicchio salad, Dungeness crab toast, pasta with ox tail, wood plank trout and 2 desserts.

Ok not sure if it is actually the best, as I should have others to compare to, but we had a great experience. Come for the happy hour for the best deals. We of course get a dozen oysters and a tall boy. The oysters are on the small side, just the species I guess, on a bed of ice. They were fresh full of briny oyster liquor/juice. There are delicious droppers to enhance the flavors. Our favorite part. So tempted to get another dozen. We opted instead for the squid ink pasta calamari. It was okay but lacking in flavor.

We found ourselves in the Hawthorne district right at 5 pm. Rather than fight the traffic we decided to find a restaurant for dinner. Jacqueline’s was a delightful surprise. They had a table available until 7 pm. The menu had several vegetarian selections including Delicata squash....very delicious. Along with the fantastic lobster mushroom pasta and a whole sea bass, our dinner was complete. My one disappointment...the $5 charge for a baguette.

I live in Portland and me and my husband go out a lot. I had avoided this place because I have a gluten and dairy allergy and it is "french." What a fool I am! They are incredibly accommodating and know their ingredients. The drinks were fabulous, the oyster happy hour had us swooning, and then we hit the menu. In a town that seems to go in fads (apparently fried chicken is on deck right now), Jacqueline is inventive, fun, and the flavors had us dancing in our seats. IMHO, this is easily the best restaurant in Portland right now (with Canard a close second). My husband had the lobster roll and said it was better than any we had on Long Island (no offense, NY). The scallops were fantastic as was the summer squash dish. We went last week and are going back tonight. Note: People know about this place and there is a line to get in at 5 for the Happy Hour. It's totally worth it. But they also take reservations! (What? In Portland??) Service is efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. Enjoy! We had bubbly, a couple of cocktails and multiple dishes for $150 for the 2 of us. Left sated, but not overfull, which is perfect. We both thought it was great bang for the buck.

The menu is a marvel of creative dishes, virtually all with some seafood aspect. You could easily dine contentedly with multiple starters and salads. All the dishes reflect what is fresh and local. Every dish we tried was a symphony of tastes, and they were beautiful to boot. Don't miss this restaurant.

Delicious and local best place to eat on the east side for sure. I like to sit at the oyster bar with my guy and eat as many as I can.
