Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited Panda Express on Marion Mt Gilead Rd Marion Ohio for the first time & it will definitely be our last. There was very little to chose from. They give you a lot of rice, vegetables or noodles & then a very small serving of meat on top of it. The prices were high & the food wasn't that good. 2 small bowls of food & a small drink was 17.48. We could have went to Hong Kong & had 2 full buffets for only 18.00 but we thought we'd try something different. BIG MISTAKE but you live & learn. Just hope others learn from our mistake.

This week we were hungry for Chinese food. The closest place was Panda Express. We had coupons so that was a draw. As we drove by the window we mentioned we had a coupon for “buy one get one free”. Apparently the person taking the order did not hear the comment or ignored it. She was rude at the window, charged us for both meals and slammed the window on us. My friend went inside to speak to the manager and got no satisfaction from that. The manager suggested she bring the food back in and the manager would remove a potion of the food to equal the amount of the coupon. That was an unhealthy suggestion to say the least! My advice is avoid Panda Express Marion Ohio at all costs!

I've been here several times. Somehow they always manage to screw up an online order. They even once ran out of rice. How does a Chinese restaurant run out of rice? I went through the drive through once an hour before closing and was told they were out of Kung Pao chicken. Are you open for business or are you not.?

I have seen Panda Express locations in mall and airport food courts but had never been to one until this new location opened literally right down the street. I was curious and besides I got coupons in the mail, so i had to go try it out and have now been there twice in two weeks. The opening week excitement has died down but there is still a steady stream of traffic in the restaurant and the drive through. The staff has been through its training and seems to work well together. On my first visit, a guy was steam cleaning the wok, then choppiing food, then getting supplies, then filling pans on the serving line all without wearing gloves or washing hands. That may have been fast but it wasn't efficient and it certainlky wasn't sanitary. That particular guy was not there on the second visit and things like that seem to have been corrected after the opening week frenzy. Panda Express has done for Chinese food what Chipotle did for the burrito- stream line the choices and put the process on an assembly line. There are standards like Kung Pao chicken, which tends to be presented either mushy or burned to a crisp on a buffet, but was just right here and with just the right kick of spice for flavor. Some premium entrees like the firecracker shrimp are labled as premium and have an additional charge. Both takeout and eat in portions are generous and I felt like I got my money and my appetitite's worth. There are additional items like spring rolls available for an additiona fee as well. I recommend takeout because the one drawback to this place is the tables are small and crowded and the line inside can back up into the eating space. Panda Express has paper napkins, straws, and (unwrapped) forks at a stand near the side door. There is a restroom, but I didn't check it.

I live in Marion and have been here several times. I stopped going because the service is atrocious. They are always running out of items. The indoor area is often closed during their posted hours. It's a shame because their Kung Pao chicken is pretty good - when they actually have it.

A complaint I submitted to the Marion and corporate offices:
I would like to make a complaint against Lizbet today, but also have a complaint about a previous visit to your restaurant where I was ignored by Gracelin, who also refused to help me at this restaurant, as well. Today I went through the drive thru, with an employee obnoxiously cutting me off with the comment, "K", every time she asked for my order, which I tried to provide. So I responded in kind, annoyed, also with, "K". When I got to the window to pay, Lizbet made a point to make a rude comment about this expression, "K", which I ignored, and provided me with a medium drink and an extra large drink. I asked why she didn't give me two extra large drinks (which is what I'd ordered) and she said that this is what I ordered. Puzzled, I drove to the parking lot as directed, because their Kung Pao dish was behind 8 minutes. I went inside the restaurant and asked to upsize my drink, which was only a $0.20 difference and gave her a quarter. No effort was made to accommodate any possible error that might have been made on their end, just barking orders that this is what I asked for, which it was not. The atmosphere was tense in there and Lizbet stated that I was rude to her staff while putting in my order--this was not the case, and in fact, it was I who felt slighted and rushed with rude interruptions from the start. I asked Lizbeth if I could speak to a manager and she said she was the manager. I asked her if she could write her name and the district manager's name on a receipt for me, which she flatly refused, asking me to leave instead. She improperly overcharged me for two drinks that I had kept, when refunding me my money, charging me $8.00 for a $5.00 charge, and she refused to give me a copy of the refund to my card--I was only 'allowed' to take a picture of the receipt. When she asked me to leave, which is when Gracelin showed up again as their example of having been rudely denied service of Panda Express twice for incompetent service on their part, I was told by Lizbet that she is not incompetent, but that in fact, I am---as a customer? I believe I was discriminated at this restaurant and asked Lizbeth to call the police if she was denying me service, which she refused to do. I would like a response from the District Manager and corporate office of this restaurant, because I am about to file a complaint with the Office of Civil Rights office regarding my negative experience at your restaurant in Marion, OH. At the very least, your management team is not trained to deal with the public, or even provide basic customer service. The worst characters seem to have taken over this place of business, unchecked. Food is never ready at the checkout window, but an interminable wait is imposed on customers who then have to navigate a discriminatory, nasty, unprofessional, and incompetent atmosphere inside of this restaurant.

I first tried a Panda Express while traveling to Los Angeles a couple years ago. We liked their food and have eaten at a number of their restaurants across the country and in airports. I am pleased we now have one in Marion.
They have only been open a short time and I have already gotten take-out twice. They did not disappoint! What I like is the quality of the food, entrees that have distinct flavors and a variety of different ingredients, the fact that they make it in small batches and it is fresh, you can see what you are getting when you order it, and it is fast - from order to check-out. I also appreciate that they offer cooked broccoli with other greens as a side dish alternative to rice. (I am allergic to rice but love Chinese food.)
The price is $7.80 for a plate with two entrees and one side dish of your choice. A few of the entrees have an up-charge, but they are clearly marked. The servings are a nice size.
