Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Popped in to our lovely, friendly local for lunch with the dogs. My other half had the large fish and chips whilst I struggled to choose from the great menu I decided to try the salt and pepper squid starter with a side of fries...for my main course. Both meals were delicious. I highly recommend this dog-friendly pub (bar and garden). And if dogs aren’t your thing they have a lovely dog-free restaurant area.More

This is not our first visit to this charming location and it will not be our last. We had Sunday lunch yesterday with friends who are local and this was just a great experience. The pub is dog friendly (and not dog tolerant which is...different) and it was busy but felt calm . Food was of the highest quality and we loved every minute of our stay, a proper Country pub where food and service count. Thank youMore

Lovely coaching inn to stay at and a cracking cooked breakfast. Very helpful as I turned up earlier than the check in time and that was not a problem-couldn’t do enough for me. Thanks Paul!!

Very good lunch. Starter of a chicken terrine was good as was salt and pepper squid. Fowey mussels with fries were excellent. Small fish and chips was not small! My partner very happy. Bramble mousse for dessert was great.

This is a wonderful pub with fantastic top quality food. The fish and chips are the best I have ever had and there is always a wide arrange of specials on the board. The pub is actually an old place which has been very carefully...and respectively updated and it gives off an air of luxury but in a comfortable, non pretentious way. Your four legged friends are very welcome and beds and water bowls can be provided for them. There really is nothing to fault about this place and a must visit if in SomersetMore

We had friends visiting at the weekend from Bristol and knew the perfect place to take them for an excellent Sunday lunch. Safe to say it lived up to the usual high standards! The Hood Arms has recently received a ‘taste of the west gold...award’ and it’s not difficult to see why, with such high attention to detail in every element. Perfectly cooked meats, homemade roasties and Yorkshire pudding, excellent sausage meat stuffing, delicious cauli-cheese and a great selection of vegetable to accompany. Not forgetting the mouthwatering desserts. Great food, great value for money, great atmosphere and great staff. Keep it up!More

The Hood arms is the best in the area for food and drinks.... I have visited on numerous occasions and recommend the place to all my guests in my holiday let.... The staff are all fantastic attentive but not over the top.... Pay no attention...to the terrible or poor reviews these are very old and written before the new owners took over..... Go you will not be disappointed... Thanks PaulMore

Lovely Sunday lunch in a traditional country inn but more than that the best kept real ale I have had in a long time. Well done Paul and Tracy

Cosy pub, warm welcome, good food, reasonable prices - What's not to like? We tend to pass through Kilve around lunchtime every few weeks and The Hood Arms is becoming our favourite place to have a bite.
