About
The Plough Inn Is Known For Its Warm Welcome. Set at the foot of the Quantock Hills, The Plough Inn offers a warm and friendly welcome with the charm you would expect from a 16th century country village pub. Mickey, Donna and the Plough Crew have worked hard since taking over the establishment in February 2021, since then the reputation of the Plough Inn has gone from strength to strength, offering honest and hearty country fair with a nod to the modern day. The home cooked menu is well supported with local west country ales and ciders, as well as the usual array of larger, beers and wines for all tastes.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Past this pub on many occasions. It’s worth a stop. Friendly good parking and a good selection on menu. The Ham egg and chips was fantastic. Good size portion and Golden eggs and thick ham and chunky chips. 10/10 👍👍

We went here for dinner last night as it was nice and close to our airbnb and had great reviews. We booked for a family of four and our dog but decided to leave him at home to sleep at the last minute as he...was shattered, which was a shame as when we arrived they had a doggy menu and treats waiting for him! We were sat in the bar area and - being totally honest - I wondered if the food would live up to the reviews. It did! We had chilli which was absolutely delicious and came with homemade guacamole (big tick), a holford high rise burger which was HUGE and very nice, kids burger and the staff were very accommodating in doing a child’s size portion of ham egg and chips for my fussy 7 year old. Very relaxed and unpretentious, proper home cooked food. We had a dessert and took some homemade liver cake treats home from the doggy menu for our pup.More

We had the loveliest meal there. We had travelled from Birmingham and when we arrived they only had 15 mins left until the kitchen closes but still let us order. The food was amazing, and the staff were so nice. Would definitely recommend!

Lovey ambiance, warm and friendly. The Sunday lunch was to die for. Served promptly by a very friendly member of staff. The proprietor had the time to stop and speak to us which was a lovely touch.

After a lengthy circular walk starting from the pub car park we came in for lunch. Three of the four of us had burgers while the forth had cottage pie. We also had two dogs with us (the pub is very dog friendly). Both dogs...had a mini lunch from the doggy menu. Our lunch was lovely, the service was friendly and the prices very reasonable. We would definately return.More

We had a great Sunday lunch at The Plough Inn. We'd reserved a table and arrived to a lovely welcome sign, dog menu, dog biscuit and water bowl. Our roasts were gorgeous and good sized portions and our dog loved the sausages from the dog...menu! It was very busy but the staff were very attentive and friendly and food came out in good time.More

Had supper here while staying locally. Unfortunately the most interesting thing on the menu (lamb shish kebab) wasn't available that evening. Had the fish and chips instead. The fish seemed a bit like pre-battered, frozen oven fish, and the tartare sauce tasted very vinegary and...processed, like it came from a store-bought jar/packet. Even the coleslaw was crude. It would have been ok as cheap pub-grub, but the pricing wasn't far off what a much better pub down the road was charging for significantly better quality. However, the staff were friendly and the pub was cosy.More

Thank you to Steph & Zoe who made us feel so welcome, and to the kitchen staff for the amazing food. We came to the area on a girls holiday and were extremely pleased with our experience at the plough. Polite and friendly staff, the...food was delicious and the atmosphere of the pub was just like home from home. Thank you so much, can't wait to come this way again.More

very rarely leave reviews but checking the temperature of meat before you serve it feels like a very standard food hygiene process. Sadly, I was served very raw chicken schnitzel. I’m quite an easy going person but I wish that I’d have taken a photo...of the dish and made a bit more of an issue, as it was I was served up an alternative meal of scampi and chips (which I only felt comfortable enough to eat the chips) and still paid £48 for pleasure of my visit. Do not go here.More
