A traditional pub serving home made good value British pub food and traditional ales. Children, walkers and dogs welcome. Kitchen is open all week from Tuesday evening through to Sunday lunchtime. Almost everything is homemade and the Sunday lunches are delicious!

We came for Sunday lunch - 6 adults 3 children and a baby. The pub asked us to preorder as we were eating early and there were 9 of us eating. The outside didn’t look promising but don’t be deceived!
Friendly staff, great food, good beer and wine. Very reasonably priced.
We were very happy.

Brilliant pub with lovely food, beer and atmosphere. we ate here twice and both times the food was delicious with generous reasonably priced dishes. The first night the card payment system was down, but no problem, they just asked us to drop in and pay somtime the next day. Excellent all round.

We were staying locally and was recommended this pub. The first night we had two delicious homemade pie meals, a bottle of wine and a shared syrup sponge, custard and ice cream at £40 including a tip!
We enjoyed our meal so much, we booked to go the second night too. Two homemade main meals, a bottle of red and a shared dessert £50 including tip.
We found the food substantial and delicious. The staff were very welcoming and efficient.
We would advise booking maybe Fri, Sat and Sun as it can get busy. We would not hesitate to recommend this pub!

Visited today for lunch and with a view to booking a larger party (around 14 persons) for an evening meal later in March. Sadly we did not have a good, welcoming experience. Myself and my friend (two females) were the only customers initially and were left waiting to be served only to have the two males who walked in after us to be served first. We were completely ignored. After the two males were served we were still ignored so we walked out and had a lovely lunch in another establishment. Unfriendly, unwelcoming and undoubtedly misogynist. There are lots of lovely pubs and cafes nearby so recommend you go elsewhere if you happen to have any females in your party.

We reserved tickets to attend NYE celebrations here back in November as we were staying in an Airbnb just down the road. At this time there was still a big ? as to whether social gatherings would be permitted but luckily the lovely Ben kept us updated and called us on 27th to confirm the function was on. :) Having never been to Much Wenlock before we popped into the pub on 28th to confirm our attendance and received a real friendly welcome. It's a small cosy traditional pub. New Years Eve was great fun with open mic and dancing and plentiful delicious food. I believe we were the only nonlocals but everyone was very friendly and our hosts Ben & Kate were very attentive. With live music from 2300 it was a great place to see in the New Year. Thank you all for making us so welcome.

A brilliant find this pub is delightful! We visited on the first night of our stay and enjoyed drinks (especially the blueberry gin liquor!) and the great atmosphere and discovered they do a Pizza night on Tuesdays so visited again the next day for pizza. The pizzas were delicious and great value too. They’re so big we couldn’t finish them as we’d ordered chips too but happily took away a box with the leftovers! A great find and a pub we will certainly return to when in the area again.

Booked table in bar area, as it is dog friendly, for a midweek visit in March for 4 adults.
Table was reserved for us, which was a good job, as it was fairly busy, which gave it a great atmosphere. Log fire was going, which made it lovely and warm.
Sampled the beef curry and chicken coq au vin which were all home made and absolutely delicious. Also shared cheesecake pudding between each couple which was also good. Together with 4 pints and a number of soft drinks the bill came to under £40 which was fantastic value.
The front of house manager came to us a couple of times to make sure everything was ok and together with the rest of the bar staff they all made us feel welcome.
Can’t speak highly enough about the place. Will definitely be returning.

We were very lucky to grab a table so please do book if you intend to visit for Sunday lunch, the food and service are incredibly good!
We just happened to be passing and asked if they had a table, they advised us to come back in 30 minutes and true to their word when we came back a table was ready.
The food was excellent, could not fault any of it, both the starters and mains were great and we had no room for deserts, the service was attentive and friendly throughout, a number of people were very politely turned away due to no tables being available, hence the comment to book if you can.
A fantastic place for Sunday lunch, sets a standard that many more illustrious places in Shropshire should aspire to in terms of food and service.

We called in here a couple of times for a drink and a bite to eat; we weren't disappointed 👍 All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. They have a great selection of beer and cider. The food was very good especially the small plates 😊 Sadly we're going home tomorrow but would highly recommend to anyone staying in or near Much Wenlock.

Visited Much Wenlock, not been to the town before, fancied a spot of lunch and called in the George and Dragon ….. what a proper pub it is just as you would want it if you love old pubs. Fantastic surroundings and great food too. Steak pie and scampi main meals were top notch and very reasonably priced. The coffee is great too. Can’t wait to go back.

Lovely dog friendly pub. The staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food was one of the best meals I've ever had in a pub. I especially loved the homemade honey mustard salad dressing and all the food was homemade. Didn't get chancebto sample the puddings as we were too full up from our main meals, nice generous portion sizes. Would definitely recommend this place to eat.

My wife and I booked in for Sunday lunch after hearing good things and were not disappointed. I had slow cooked beef brisket and my wife had roast topside of beef. My brisket was delicious totally melt in the mouth, great roast potatoes, parsnip and carrot along with peas, green beans, purple cabbage and broccoli. Cauliflower cheese to die for and lashings of delicious rich gravy
Followed up with apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding both homemade. In all the best Sunday lunch we’ve ever had couldn’t fault it

Waitresses on a steep learning curve - ordered pate starter and fish / chips main. All food came together and when pointed out starters are served first, seemed completely oblivious to ridiculous service. But food not expensive and of decent quality. Excellent value. Pub could do with a makeover. Olde worldly atmosphere has become a bit shabby.

This is what pubs should be - a beautiful unspoilt historic interior, friendly welcoming staff, and a feel of vibrant community. The fact that I then had the best Sunday roast I can remember was the icing on the cake. Fabulous generous portions, great slab of Yorkshire Pudding, great gravy, followed by steamed puddings and custard. The landlord was a lovely chap and made a real fuss of our dog (who was royally spoilt!).

Dived in here on a very soggy walk around Much Wenlock. We hadn’t booked but even though there were 6 of us they found us a table and it wasn’t an issue to have young kids sat in the main bar area.
Kids had big bowls of the most delicious chips they’d had in ages, two of us had lovely home made soups and the ciabatta was very nice. Good beer too. Staff were friendly and service was quick.
Bar area is a lovely snug old fashioned room which felt very welcoming in the inclement weather!!!
