Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

At first it was a bit confusing to find this place because it’s now called Mr. Wok. A niece took it over from her uncle. I advised her on how to contact trio advisor to change it
The food was good. Super cheap during the lunch special and comes with free soup. The atmosphere was fine, just don’t expect fine dining. The owner was pleasant as well.

We called ahead to order Sunday holiday brunch for a dozen people. They told us to call night before and they came in early to prep and had ready a half hour after they opened. Most other Chinese restaurants didnt even open until 4p, so they have good hours, accommodate large orders, got the order exactly right, and the food was all great!

They have the best egg rolls in town. Both the shrimp or the pork are top notch. I found the place over ten years ago and still haven't found anyone better in town. I love the General Tao chicken as well as beef and Chinese vegetables. I asked the owner once why his chicken dishes were so good, and he told me he uses fresh ingredients. He admitted he had tried using frozen chicken from a wholesaler but that his customer's complained almost immediately so he went back to what has made his customers repeat dinners. I have moved across town to Polaris area but we still drive to Gahanna when we want Chinese food. As long as he is in business I will eat there.
Yes he is a colorful character as well, and I usually eat carry out. You also get a free pop or soup if your order is over 20.00, well at least I do, since he does take care of his customers.
The dinner portions in the combo platters are large too. I usually eat half for dinner and have the second half for lunch the next day. Yes the Name is now Mr. Wok not The Magic Wok, but the food is still great.

I placed a lunch order after 3 pm on 11/30/2023. It came to $17 even. I gave the young lady $20 and told her I want a receipt. She said the receipt would be in the bag. Not only did I not get a receipt she kept my change. Every time I pay with cash she will not give a receipt. The food is not bad but I will not be going back. The guy that use to work the counter always gave me a receipt when I paid with cash.

We just moved to the side of town and are trying to find good Asian food. This would not be it. The pad Thai did not taste anything like pad Thai. I'm not sure what it was. The hot sour soup had a really odd foul taste. Again nothing like usual hot and sour soup. The steamed potstickers were good, but how do you mess those up? They likely come in pre-made and they just heat them. such a bummer.

I love this place - the food is always awesome. I agree with the other reviewers, the General Tso's is the best I've had. The owner is always working and running the cash register, and he does bark his orders at the workers, but it isnt bad - it just adds character to the place.
The restaurant itself isnt anything amazing, but at least the seats are comfortable. I go here for the food anyway.
The combo orders run about $6, including rice and an eggroll, and the regular orders are $8-10, and have enough food for 2 adults to eat.

I have been going to this place for years. I live in NYC now but when I go home I always return to the Wok for general tso's. It is not only the best general's in town, I think its the best general's in the country. The portions are huge but its the crunchiness, spiciness, and delicious flavors that make it #1. I compare any general's I get country wide to the Wok's and nowhere even comes close. Cheers to Magic Wok and Cheers to the tastiest general's west of China.

Family run business that always gives good food usually in 10 min or less. Lunch menu is a bargain. Most foods can be made from spicy to non-spicy.

Highly recommended. Best Gen. Tso's in town. Service is top notch and perhaps one of the most unique dining experiences you will ever encounter. Recently, the name has been changed to Mr. Wok due to some discrepancy with the Magic Wok chain but the sign outside still says "Magic Wok".
