The Awesome Location of the Lane is Beautiful as is the Spectacular Views from the dining room
We Thoroughly Enjoyed our Long Lunch with our Family each course was place in front of us and explained to us and we absolutely tasted how Delicious it was. Two family members are dairy & gluten
Intolerant & were catered for without any problems. Our server Rebecca was “The Best” she looked after us so Wonderfully, We Highly recommend The Lane and their Wine is Excellent Too. Our Anniversary Celebration was also made Special with a complimentary bottle of wine for us to enjoy at home. Definitely Five Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Patricia & Antonie Teunissen

Myself and two friends decided to call into The Lane on our way back from another winery for lunch.
We hadn't booked, yet the staff were extremely accommodating, checking with the kitchen to ensure that our dietary requirements would be met. I am vegan, and with me was my vegetarian friend and another meat-eating friend.
I assumed that all three of us would automatically be eating a vegan degustation, which is what usually happens in situations like this as it is easier for the kitchen staff - but each of us were catered to perfectly. Neither of my friends were forced to miss out on the cheeses or meats provided in the regular set menu.
The food was absolutely beautiful, as was the wine. I'm not usually a huge fan of white wine, but The Lane's selection of chardonnay was absolutely divine.

I recently celebrated my 70th birthday along with 40+ guests. I began arrangements around August 2019, toured quite a few vineyards including Mclaren Vale. My wife and I were immediately blown away on driving up the long driveway entrance road and sighting the Restaurant overlooking a magnificent valley and dam. The vines were relatively bare of greenery at that time but we could envisage the greenery in January approaching vintage in March.
On the day, we were impressed by the attention to detail and attentiveness of the staff to refreshment and food requirements.
The canapes enjoyed on arrival were delicious presented along with the Lois bubbly.
The canapes were part of a four-course shared meal. 2nd course was barramundi fish, 3rd was beef and 4th was dessert. All of my guests spoke in the highest admiration of the presented meal.
I would recommend you take the time and visit and enjoy the vista, of course the food and the high quality wines.

Great location - the view from the dining room is amazing even considering it was cloudy and drizzly when we had our lunch. We had a birthday gathering for 9 persons and offered the chef’s table menu to share. Amount of food was just nice, but found a couple of dishes could have been “warmer”, especially because it was scallops and the other was a barramundi dish.
Service from the floor staff was very good and accommodating.

Perhaps they were just having a bad day? We arrived at Midday for our reservation made a month ago. Our number dropped from 9 to 6 as our grand daughter had a runny nose. ( we were told she would be welcome). We arrived to enjoy the tasting plate experience. Upon arrival we requested to sit near the window. They told us this was not possible despite the fact there were only 2 other people in the restaurant. We duly got poured some wine. After 20 mins and 2 wine tasting we wondered what happened about the food? They had made no mention that food was available apart from a couple of menus on the table. We assumed incorrectly that the food would be brought out automatically as nothing was said about ordering. We got the distinct impression the staff really did not want us to be there. They did their best to ignore us. We left after 30 minutes with no food and decided to try our luck somewhere else in Hahndorf.

A very cool dining room with views from its elevated position, a pleasant welcome from the staff and then we were able to blend a premium wine tasting with lunch : and what a lunch it was ! Absolutely lovely caramelised ox cheeks followed by perfectly cooked barrumundi, with interesting and original accompaniments.A really first class meal.
Plus a charming waitress and knowledgable tasting staff.
Actually great value too.

Great to see the chefs continuing to implement ways of farm to table with their own lambs, and eggs and honey? I believe soon.
Coming from a hospo background, I was impressed with Luke’s friendly and knowledgeable demeanour especially as he discussed his university studies outside of food/wine. He was still clearly interested in the products and efficiency of the room.
Portions are a standard fine dining size and emphasise quality over quantity - with pairings available. As we had sparkling to start, Luke advised one of our party that this was actually the first tasting wine, so suggested trying two reds with the lamb to compare and not double up.
Being a winery it is understandable the drinks are focused around this - we did ask for an espresso martini afterwards and learnt they weren’t an option but the coffees were pleasant enough (and great crockery).
View was fantastic and private venue available slightly away from the main venue as well.
Keen to return.

Why have I never come across this before as it's such a simple but great idea. The concept-choose a number of picturesque spots around the winery and set them up ready for a picnic. The customers on booking get to choose their preferred spot. You book your picnic hamper on line and can add one of their great wines to the order as well. We added a bottle of sparkling.
On the day we turned up were handed our basket, bottle and wine cooler and headed in the direction of our spot.
We had chosen the old gate which was just perfect. A great view of the surrounding valleys and hills and close to the vines. There was a picnic table, umbrella, rug and cushions waiting for us. Over three hours we grazed on all the goodies and polished off the great tasting bubbles.
After finishing we considered trying their wine tasting but opted instead for a coffee seated at an open window with great views.
Our only suggestion would be to have suitable glasses for sparkling wine even if stemless and not glass. Water tumblers don't do justice to the standard of wine.
Interestingly on returning home to Sydney we read a review of Adelaide Hills Wineries in the weekend Australian which recommended the Lane above all else. It said it didn't want to give the game away but there would be a surprise waiting. I'd love to know what that is! We look forward to returning and perhaps trying their well regarded restaurant next time.

The Chef's Table dining experience exceeded all our expectations. The courses served by Tom were all fantastic. This was made all the better in that Tom would bring each dish out and personally explain the background and method involved. There is a strong focus on local produce.
The food experience was taken to another level with Bree serving wines that were individually matched to each course. Again a detailed description/background was provided in relation to each wine and on many occasions Bree would then produce a different vintage of the wine being served for comparison.
We had set aside 4 hours but should have allowed 5!!!
Do not let the cost put you off. We felt that the experience was great value.
We will definitely book for this experience again and just hope that Tom and Bree are still there.

We recently celebrated many years of happy marriage at the Lane Vineyard, and the meal, the service and the ambiance were all delightful. The view from the restaurant is lovely, which set the scene for the delicious lunch to follow. We had the 5 course lunch menu and the food was varied, very tasty and beautifully presented. The waitress was very friendly and helpful, the service was timely without being rushed and we appreciated the gesture of an offer of a complimentary glass of bubbles to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you to the Lane Vineyard for a great experience.

Very modern elevated restaurant with quite expansive views over the surrounding vineyards and hills.
As we were lunching there on a Wednesday we had choices from the Harvest a la carte menu which included a good selection of snacks, starters, mains, sides and desserts.
We had some fresh oysters with ponzu and lime ($4-50 each) to start with followed by crab toast ($7-00 each) and a waygu skewer each ($10). These were so delicious that I could have just feasted on more of these but I am pleased that we didn't as the mains were just as good.
We shared mains of the kingfish with melon and tomato and the Chef's cut meat with salsa verde. Sides were roast carrot and a cos lettuce salad. Too full to have dessert. House made sourdough was also very good.
Good selection of wines from the vineyard. We had a bottle of 2021 Beginning Chardonnay at $70.
Service was very friendly and attentive.
Will absolutely dine here again when in Adelaide.

My wife and I were celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary, starting with The Gathering degustation hosted and described by Carlos, who was polite and friendly, exhibiting strong knowledge of wine and the accompanying hors-d'oeuvres. After the degustation we enjoyed the Chef's selection in the restaurant, a high quality 5 course meal which really completed our day. The restaurant was professionally managed throughout our visit to a very high standard by Natasha, who was noticeably coordinating the whole experience. In summary we would have no hesitation in recommending the Lane to all our friends. Do yourself a favor get there soon!

Foodie friends said this was a must do for our SA wineries trip and it was fabulous. Minutes from the charming town of Hahndorf, The Lane is a bright and airy space with stunning views across vines and fields. The staff were professional and friendly with good wine knowledge. Our food was creative and full flavoured and we enjoyed every moment in this lovely location.

Despite booking many weeks in advance, our group was ushered through the warm upstairs room with beautiful views to the freezing cold basement with the wine vats for our tasting. It was unbearable. Having just left an amazing toasty warm cellar door nearby there was no way we were buying wine here - we were too busy running to the car to put on the heater.

We had the perfect day at The Lane Vineyard. It kicked off with the very knowledgeable and friendly Douglas introducing us to their wines (I was so impressed I signed up to the wine club). Then the lunch; wow! The chef prepared us a special vegan degustation, and I don't think I've had a better meal. The tastes and presentation were second to none. The matched wines were perfect, generous and very reasonably priced. The service was faultless and the pacing of the meals ideal. I'll definitely be back
