Sola's has their own beer on tap. We enjoyed the house special of the evening; an enormous bowl of spaghetti topped with various cheeses. It turned an ordinary dish to something magical - super hot, melty deliciousness. Service was beautiful. We had the option to pay in Canadian or in US Dollars.

I was here for dinner the other night with my wife. I had the seemed to be manager (tall, dark hair, older lady) for a server and my service was HORRIBLE!! She was rude (when she did come to our table) and made all the other employees do all the work for her. A young girl refilled our waters twice, cleared our plates and took our payment. (We were not checked on once by our server) I should also state that it was not a busy evening. The waitress was to busy trying to sell some side business she must have going on. The food was fine but the service was awful. I will not be back.

My boyfriend and I love Solas. It’s our favourite place to eat when we’re in Dawson Creek. They have a huge menu with lots of options and a really delicious golden beer on tap. The servers are all lovely as well

First and LAST time ever going here. Went out for a nice dinner with my husband, food was less than mediocre but that wasn't the concern. My husband took had a few bites of food and chomped onto something sharp. It was a fairly big piece of stainless steel scour pad (2.5 inches long), which could have resulted in him cutting his mouth or possibly his insides. A hair is one thing, but a hard sharp piece of steel???? The waitress took the food away and brought out a new meal for him 20 mins later. At the end of the dinner we got our bill and they were still going to charge us for his dish so my husband asked about it. The waitress said "well we gave you a new one so yeah", I spoke up and said that's not acceptable...she said she'd talk to the manager. She came back and said the manager will allow 30% off (are you kidding?). If he hurt himself badly they would have been giving A LOT more than 30% off. It's unfortunate that the manager was also too lazy to get off their butt and come out to talk to us, and IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FREE! Out of all the years of dining and trying out restaurants, this experience was by far the worst.

The food is pretty good, the specials are usually pretty good. The service was satisfactory. The soups are usually done very well. It’s an all around ok restaurant. Not the best or the worst I’ve had.

I went for a late supper around 7 pm; I was expecting something like an Earls restaurant but discovered it caters more to a younger drinking crowd; it was pretty noisy for the few people there; I also was not overly impressed with the food; salt and pepper chicken wings didn’t have a lot of flavour and Caesar salad wasn’t the greatest; service was very good, however!

I love salads and they have some unique salads I really enjoyed. They even offer half size which were perfect for me. The staff all seemed very friendly. I stayed at the connected hotel - super 8 and they provided room service with no extra charge.

Just had the worst dining & service experience out of any restaurant we’ve been to in Western Canada! After attending a family event at Encana, we beat the rush over to ‘Sola’; the restaurant our parents ‘highly recommended’. We had our table of 8 promptly sat (us, our 4 kids & the grandparents). Our drink orders were taken, then the ‘after event’ masses started lining up. We joked how lucky we were to get in first, thinking our entire order had been put in with the server before the several other tables sat. Our order was straightforward: 4x the Sunday evening prime rib special, + 4 kids meals. We were looking forward to a nice meal before our 2 hour drive home. So Wrong! Everything after that it was like being stuck in the Bermuda Triangle! Our server was busy, but she completely ignored that we existed for the rest of the night. We finished our drinks & sat with dry glasses for 20 minutes, before the very young bus girl we flagged down, found someone to bring us another round. It became apparent that we no longer knew if our ‘server’ was actually serving us, as by this point she would no longer make eye contact & was busy buzzing around the several other tables that had sat after us. (& while several people were working, they too made us feel invisible) 40 min after we sat, the ‘share plate’ appetizer came out. It tasted like freezer burnt, leftover bits from the deep fryer (whose oil hadn’t been changed in the past month) soaked in dish water & slapped with a few splashes of mystery sauce. Not impressed but still looking forward to our actual meals. Our kids were starving by this point! Then the food parade started. Every table that had been sat after us, whether it was an 8 top, high top, booth or by bar was served their food. We counted at least 50 + other individual plates coming out of the kitchen. Literally the entire restaurant had been filled & was served & settling up before our mains came out. Our original server fliting between the tables directly behind us, with no explanation or courtesy to speak to us. We assumed she had messed up or forgot the order, so she was just avoiding us. Another 20 min...still no food. Other tables started getting their bills & some were leaving. Our kids were spinning, starving & my parents were getting worried. I finally had to walk around to find our original server, to ask her what was going on, why it was taking so long. She replied that it was because we had ordered the ‘appy’. (Actually, why am I walking around looking for service)? Another 20-30 minutes passes & our food starts coming out. It’s lukewarm, the gravy has skin, the Yorkshire was scorched black & soggy; ingredients were missing from the plates. We had to flag someone down ‘again’. Then another 10-15 minutes after the adult meals, our kids curry bowls come out. Again luke warm, missing the grilled chicken & rice ... so basically a bowl of shredded veg. No one came back to check on anything. The food quality was as bad as the service. We again had to get up & hunt someone down to ask why so many things were wrong. We asked to speak to the manager. Instead one of the ‘helpers’ came around to say the manager would take 10% off the bill and pay for the wine. By this point the restaurant was almost empty. The food was not palatable, so we we packed most of it up for our dog. Frustrated I got up again to find someone in the back so we could actually speak to the elusive ‘manager’ & explain our horrible experience. It wasn’t about the bill. She finally came over & offered a few lame excuses & a an insincere apology. Our server also made an ‘excuses only’ apology & explained she couldn’t leave the other table’s waiting. We reminded her that was exactly what she did to us: completely ignored us & left us waiting. Bottom line; their problems with quality control, service etc are not the fault of the customer. Avoiding dealing with the situation made it even worse. We had not been to a restaurant in Dawson Creek in over 11 years, and will never go back to or recommend anyone to go to Solas. The experience put a big stain in an otherwise memorable evening.

Really enjoyed chatting with the bartender. His food recommendations were spot on. The menu was a bit pricey, but we enjoyed everything we tried. Would eat there again.

Out of curiosity we travelled to here, Dawson Creek, from Chetwynd. At the Dawson Creek Visitor Centre, which was still open after our quick tour of the town, we were told by a young lady (really a student by her looks) who was on duty at 5.30pm in response to our question about a nice restaurant that there were several close by but we could try Sola's, as she herself had been there. And so we did. On arriving we were shown a table but within a minute of sitting down, we decided to skip to another unoccupied table because of the ear-shattering noise from the music. A woman server came by to take our order. One of us who is a vegetarian could find nothing that the person could eat and so was forced to settle for "noodles and cheese". I decided on ginger salmon, as I had a preference for seafood over meat. But as the noise continued unabated we moved to another table closer to the corner facing and opposite the entrance which was at the father end. I think our food was served within 10 minutes, and that was pretty quick, I thought However, both of us were disappointed -- the noodles and cheese was at best very ordinary, and not worth spending words to describe it. The ginger salmon, exhorbitantly priced at $27.99 -- why the 2799 cents, why not round it up to $28? -- was a very small piece of salmon and thus heavily over-priced. - and a disappointment when it was served. Anyone seeing the dish would not disagree with my take on the price charged. I thought salmon was available in large quantities in Canada and could not be so high priced. In terms of taste, I thought it was about average, and did not reflect the price charged. Our complain is about Sola's the ear-shattering noise from the music... how can anyone past their teens enjoy his or her food, we wondered when there is so much loud music?. Thankfully we were early and there were several empty tables available. Had we arrived past 8 or 9 pm we might have had to stay at the tables offered to us. The music might have been louder perhaps... The server was a very friendly person and we rewarded her with a 20% tip -- she should not be blamed for the inadequacies of the kitchen and for restaurant environmen including pricingt.

We dined here on our final night in Dawson Creek. We all had the blackened salmon salad for dinner. Disappointed that they did not include any bread with the dinner but ordered it on the side. All they had was toast or garlic bread. The menu has plenty of options and there is an outside dining area that is enclosed. It also has a sports bar atmosphere. I’m sure you will find something good to eat here and it is one of the best restaurants in Dawson Creek.
