Great spot after a long day on the road. Our waitress Heather was more than accommodating! They have a cute outdoors spot and a very cozy indoor area. I loved the wine list and they had a great selection of craft beers. I had a goat cheese and walnut salad which I liked my husband had the seared tuna and he said it was wonderful!

The four dishes we ordered were a bit pricey but I think Twisted Oak is probably the high end of the restaurant scene in Statesville. I had the Fried Green Tomatoes and the pimento cheese sauce and bed of greens were great, but the breading on the tomatoes was a little too light and not crisp enough, especially after soaking in the pimento cheese. My entree was the shrimp and grits, which had too much sauce on it and not enough shrimp which were so drowned in the sauce that they had not individual flavor of their own. But the sautéed grit cakes served with them were surprising in flavor - I'll have to try to make these at home! My husband had the Nashville Hot Chicken Dip which he loved and the Cubano sandwich. The sandwich was so tall with it's pork chop, tomato, fried pickles, lettuce, cheese and bacon he could not pick it up and had to dismantle it to eat it. We both had more than enough to eat but perhaps the restaurant could include a few dishes that had fewer ingredients that disguise the main food.

The food flavor was very good, but over-priced for the amount received. The atmosphere was appealing. It was clear they were under-staffed as our server was also overwhelmed with bar-tending while the hostess was also bussing tables. Did not have a warm, welcoming vibe. Ready to leave instead of lingering after finishing our meal.

This is absolutely delish. I am gluten free and the chef made especially for me Lobster Mac and Cheese with gluten free pasta. My husband had a peacan encrusted Sain with a bourbon sauce that was really good. For dessert we shared a creme brule and it was amazing Our waitress was really special. She took time to check on us and recommended the dessert. Her name is Crystal and I adore her

We were driving through and wanted to get a bite to go that wasn't fast food. We were blown away and both of us said we wished this type of food and menu was close by in williamsburg. Firecracker shrimp was good as anything we've had in VA, OBX, and FL. The restaurant upholds the #2 or #1 ranking and if you are writing bad reviews about bad services during covid you are an idiot.

Cozy atmosphere and friendly and efficient service. Building was a stable in the 1800s; lots of brick and old wood made for a very relaxing meal. Signature presentation of shrimp and grits (mini-version) was wonderful--grits cake with shrimp in a slightly spicy creamy red sauce with mushrooms and bacon. The dinner version has andouille sausage instead of bacon. Wonderful pimiento cheese dip with tortilla chips. Many customers were not wearing masks and were not social distancing.

First time here and we were meeting friends driving thru and this was a central location. Nice setting and decent food. Unfortunately our service was pretty bad. Everything we asked was an issue and had to flag down for refills on drinks every time and the restaurant was not busy. Anyway back to the food, my husband had the millionaire meatloaf. He does not eat mushrooms so asked for it without the sauce. This was a big mistake as it was pretty dry and not very tasty. After flagging down our waiter we finally got some BBQ sauce brought over and that helped some. Our friends had the trout and the short ribs and appeared to enjoy them. Their sweet tea was very good. I got all appetizers for my meal. I had the candies jalapeno bacon - would not order again. Was definitely spicy but not very tasty or bacony. Not worth the money. The crispy shrimp were very good - large, crispy and lots of flavor. Last was the fried zucchini, squash and asparagus. It was ok. Hard to tell the difference by taste of what was what but the breading was good. Overall it was ok. I would give it another try if in the area but wouldn't drive there specifically to eat.

We highly recommend Andrea and her entire staff at the Twisted Oak for any event! We had our daughter’s wedding reception in their venue room. Andrea was extremely helpful throughout the whole planning process and very accommodating for all our requests. The food was excellent and the staff was so friendly and helpful! Our guests were all commenting about how great the food was and how beautiful the venue was. Thanks Andrea and staff for helping make our daughter’s special day everything she wanted it to be!!

Ate here with a large group passing through town on a bus tour. Arrived around 600 pm and seated in isolated rooms dedicated for the group dinner. Staff worked their tails off accommodating needs throughout the night. Drink orders and beverages came rather quickly after arrival. Orders taken and wait was approximately 25 minutes before food started being brought to tables. Salads came quickly and main entrees lagged somewhat. Food brought to table was hot and very flavorful. Mushroom Asiago Chicken was my main entree and was served over mashed potatoes & served with green beans as a side. It was all absolutely wonderful. Great restaurant ambience with a full bar. Don’t hesitate to stop here for a meal at your next opportunity.

Tried to have dinner at this restaurant on Saturday, Feb 24th. They would not take reservations for a party of 2 and knowing we would have to wait as it was a Saturday at 6 p.m. we decided to try it anyway. The hostess told us the wait would be 1 hour and my husband and I then went to the bar to wait our turn. After 1 hour, we got seated at a table in the bar and placed our appetizer order and asked for water with the bartender. After waiting an hour and still not receiving either the appetizer or the water, my husband got up and found the manager and explained to him that it had been over an hour and we still had not received anything--even a glass of water. The manager then stated that there were 2 large parties in the restaurant and never offered an apology or explanation as to why we had not received service after another hour wait. We had had enough at that point and left. If the restaurant cannot handle large parties, they should not have taken in any new customers and shut down the restaurant. For a "high end" restaurant, this was terrible service and the manager should be fired for handling our concerns the way he did. We will not be going back and obviously never giving a good recommendation.

My friend and I found this restaurant on trip advisor. We were excited….The ambiance and wait staff were wonderful! The food? Not so much. The pimento cheese appetizer sounded wonderful. The pimento had no taste until I loaded it with pepper. The chips had not been warmed; just straight out of a bag. I ordered the ribeye sandwich and I had to take it apart to try and cut the meat in order to eat it….which I couldn’t and gave up. My friend chose the sirloin which was overcook and the baked potato was hard. Couldn’t tell if it had actually been baked or boiled then baked. We came here after a long trip back from Durham and left very disappointed. Maybe it was just a bad day for them…

This was a business dinner in the private dining room of the Twisted Oak for 15 guests. Arriving in downtown Statesville to make our reservation where parking is a bit challenging even on a Wednesday night. As you enter the restaurant, you immediately feel a cozy, warmth. We were brought to a back private dining room and our waitress Mackenzie promptly introduced herself and took drink orders as everyone arrived into the room. Took us awhile to sit down at the table, but Mackenzie went to the man in charge of our group and suggested appetizers. This finally brought everyone to the table where we shared firecracker shrimp, fried green tomatoes, hot pretzels and a charcuterie board with a nice selection of meats, cheeses and nibbles. The shrimp were jumbo sized and seasoned well; not to spicy. Nice selection of appetizers. Entrees were next and the meatloaf and shrimp with grits seemed to be the favorite choices. I had the short ribs and they melted in your mouth. There were a couple people who enjoyed the salmon and a couple of steak orders. Nothing but compliments about portion size, flavors and the meatloaf eaters had a consensus that it was not your ordinary meatloaf; it was elevated. Mackenzie was attentive and kept drinks flowing. The food, service and atmosphere were on point. If I were to make a recommendation it would be to put a paragraph or two about the history of the restaurant or owners on the menu to let everyone know the story. It was cozy and warm, but I wish I knew a bit more about the history. Recommend for a group or a couple. Enjoy!

High hopes after long day of driving and checking into a tired old Marriott courtyard. Hard time finding parking and after a drive around found it. Quaint inside. Not busy for a Monday night. Good bourbon selection. Dinners southern style. Wife had chicken and gravy and I had fried ribeye gravy mash and green beans. Mine was punched in wrong and meal was comp. wife finished hers by time mine came out. Soso at that point but bourbons were good. Had to be off night given reviews.

Took about an hour to get our food. My husband ordered the mahi sandwich (which he enjoyed) and I ordered the crispy fried trout. The trout was good and the twisted fries are tasty. But the coleslaw was bland and pretty much tasteless. Just don’t go if you’re in a hurry. We were there for two hours.

Arrived late evening in Statesville and needed take out food for family of 4. Did an online order, then picked up at Twisted Oak. Food was terrific. Chicken nuggets were large, deep fried and tasty. Seafood meal for adults was great; burger for other child was good. Next trip I hope to eat in at this restaurant.
