Wow what a great experience eating at Salt. Delicious food and cocktails, the staff were amazing. The restaurant is so spacious. It must be even more amazing in summer utilizing the outdoor seating and lovely views out to the marina. 10 out of 10
We had given up eating at Salt after being disappointed too many times when we stayed in Whitianga however we were told they have new owners so thought we would give it a go and wow what a difference. The staff were outstanding... they took...our drink orders promptly and then our food orders which is great when your starving , they were super friendly and efficient so good on them. Then there was the food ... what a great Chef they now have !! The Tempura Oysters were fantastic and worth the money as such juicy oysters and very light batter. The eye fillet was so tasty and melt in your mouth along the side of vegetables being fresh and very tasty. the Muscles were fantastic according to my wife and the Calamari very tender and ample
Can’t wait to go back to Whitianga and eat at this place ! Well done guys.More
There have been some poor reviews recently but with new owners and a new chef Salt is back to its best. We had group of six visit after hearing of the changes here and we were all impressed. A nice menu, good service and every...dish was cooked perfectly.
We could not fault anything and look forward to return visits.More
Omg you have to have the seafood platter. K was so friendly and professional. What an asset she is! We had read some bad reviews but we gave it a try and weren't disappointed. They were busy too. Definitely coming back 👍
Our party of four had a very pleasant evening and tasty meal. The staff were friendly and efficient. We had a shared seafood platter to start, and it was excellent. It was not padded out with non seafood items such as olives etc. Our main...courses were great too - crispy skin salmon on risotto, and steak. The desserts were well presented and again spot on. We had read some negative reviews of Salt, but our experience had no negatives and we would happily return.More
After a beautiful Asian meal the night before we decided to go European and chose Salt on the back of strong recent reviews...they were not wrong. The restaurant was quiet being the middle of the week and the middle of May. Our waitress was delightful...and the meals were top notch - in fact my pork belly was the best I have had in years. My parents had the lamb for two which was also beautifully prepared and my wife enjoyed the salmon. We only had two desserts - the chocolate creme brulee was a winner. I slept very contented last night after this meal...More

If the owners of Salt posted the above to someone's review then I can only say you really need to get off the keyboard. The height of ignorance you have displayed to the posters review clearly shows an inability to understand customer service.
These reviews are not here for your self gratification. They are to give the wider TripAdvisor community the experience encountered at a given dining time. You will not always get glowing responses not will you always get poor ones.
What you do have to do is respect the fact that someone took the time to reply, in the hope that it might point out some short comings they encountered at that time. Most reasonable restaurant owners understand this and sometimes things do go wrong.
I have dined at Salt multiple times and for the most part experience has been great but not perfect. If you cannot accept constructive feedback both positive and negative you have no business being in a customer service industry. You ought to be ashamed of yourself for this behavior.
