Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Simply a Fantastic dining experience. The staff was wonderful and really knew their menu. The flavors of all the dishes were bright and savory. Atmosphere was lovely. We had 6 dishes, and each was better than the last. So bright and tasty. This is truly...one if the best in the region! Enjoy.More

We called for takeout but were told no take out because they were short staffed. Since we were in the neighborhood, we decided to eat inside. (+) the aroma from the kitchen was very inviting. (+) the outside dining area of the upstairs was quite...satisfying. (+) complimentary Moroccan tea was very good. (+) order was taken promptly. (-) there were 3 people also seated with us outside, the server brought them one entree. There was quite a delay before entree #2 arrived. At this point we had not received any of our order. Another long delay, entree #3 arrived BUT it was the wrong order. Another delay, then my order of "cigars" arrived, it had a Moroccan name on the menu & I thought I was ordering a dumpling type item, instead they (3) looked more like wraps containing lamb. I ate one and it was quite good. Eventually entree #3 arrived at the other table and AGAIN it was the wrong order. The server asked the woman if she wouldn't take it at no charge. The woman refused. My order of eggplant/chickpeas arrived and is was good and nicely spiced however I had to ask for silverware. After another wait my wife's spicy fish arrived; it was so spicy hot that she couldn't eat it. I tried it, I love spicy hot dishes but this was too hot for me. I shared my eggplant and she took some of the lamb filling from the "cigar". Not sure how the woman finally made out with her entree. If we ever return, we'll be sure (1) they have a full staff and (2) get some clarification on their definition of spicy.More

Casual, comfortable spot with excellent Moroccan dishes. We went early and it got busy quickly, but service was friendly and efficient. Food was very flavorful with dishes ranging from savory to spicy. Good selection of vegetarian options as well as seafood, chicken and lamb dishes....Definitely worth a try if you are in the area.More

Had the grilled shrimp salad. So good. Can’t wait to return. Nice touch of hot tea with mint and Joey poured into little glasses, on the house. Appetizer of warm eggplant and pita. Small and cozy. Full of character.

Had previously eaten at branch on Western Ave and enjoyed it. Decided to try the original in Schenectady and thought the same entry was even better. As was the ambiance and staff. All very attentive.

Three of us stopped for lunch on a beautiful sunny day. The waitress offered outdoor seating and it was a pleasure to dine outside. Before she took our orders we were given a fine Moroccan tea. Since one of us is quite sensitive to overly...spiced foods, we discussed our choices with the waitress who was very helpful in explaining each dish. We settled on the roasted eggplant pita pizza, Haria chicken soup and fish with spicy date sauce/almonds/raisins served with rice and green beans. Everything was delicious and when one of the wait staff came over to see how our meals were, I mistakenly asked if he was the chef since I wanted to compliment him. Shortly after the chef came over to our table and all three of us were able to rave about his preparations, which he humbly appreciated. After the check arrived, I decided I would like to have a baklava to go. The waiter said he would adjust the check. When he returned with the dessert and check, he told us that the chef was giving us the baklava free. The restaurant is a hole in the wall but not to be missed if you like ethnic food. One minor complaint, the restaurant doesn’t appear to have regular sized napkins. When the tea was served cocktail napkins were provided and as the meal was being served we asked for what I thought would be regular sized but the waitress returned with more cocktail napkins.More

There is nothing negative to say about this restaurant. I came from out of town, was greeted with a warm ambiance and amazing smells in a family run setting. I was given thorough information about each dish I inquired about. The food itself was perfectly...cooked and well seasoned and I was provided with generous portions of the wine, lamb meatballs, and spicy fig tagine I ordered. The restaurant owner was training a new chef in the kitchen. She was patient, thorough, and consistent which I am certain translates to quality and consistency of each prepared dish. The food heightened my overall experience of Schenectady and I encourage those who are able to try it to do so.More

(Mostly) post-covid, the menu is back to full length, though prices are higher. Still a fsntastic deal: one $12 dollar appetizer and $23 main courses for 3 is enough to eat and leave half the main courses for tomorrow's dinner. And tagine is sooo good....(Beware harissa tagine unless you like it hot.)More

We went dinner tonight. The food was so awful. Chicken was like rock and pour sauce on the top. Sample appetizer was not even sure what it is. $85. For two dishes and one appetizer. Never go back again.

Have not tried Moroccan food before but my daughter was coming over for dinner and we decided to try Tara Kitchen. We are so glad we did. I work for the owner's parents and am more familiar with Indian and now Moroccan cuisine. We tried...two appetizers, Eggplant Dip and Olive Tapenade which came with a lot Pita Bread. I really enjoyed the eggplant but as much as I enjoy olives, I did not enjoy the Tapenade as well. Our entries were great. All three from the Seafood menu. We had three different choices and they were all great. I wish you would have kept the scallops with the shrimp and fish, but it was great. Highly recommend this fine establishment and look forward to other dinners here. We had our dinner delivered as it is free, but we gave the driver a nice tip.More

We came here on Halloween night and they were closing earlier than usual. That said, we called ahead and they said it would be no problem if we came before 7:45pm. We walked in at 7:36 pm and were greeted with the line cook yelling...to us that he was done cooking in 10min so we need to order right away. Our server was obviously annoyed, which was a little uncalled for since we came while they were still very much open. We ordered the lamb tagine with spicy harissa and the fish tagine with olives and preserved lemons. We absolutely adored the lamb, it was so spicy but so amazingly flavorful and addicting! The rice that comes with it was nothing spectacular but the pita was good. We wouldnt likely order the fish again but it wasn’t bad. We asked for additional pita and were told it had been put away, which was just a lame excuse to give us none so we insisted we needed more and we watched our server huff and puff to go “find” some, I mean at a place like this, there is always pita available. She brought it out from the back holding it in her bare hand and bringing it to the oven to heat. We ordered the baklava to-go so we could just get out of there but essentially they had started cleaning the floors around us since they probably had Halloween parties to go to but we really didn’t take any longer than we needed. The food was good enough to come back for and I hope the service is better next time!More

We need a vacation so we took a food vacation to Morocco thanks to Tara Kitchen. During COVID we ordered take out and are never disappointed by the flavors. They are also doing local pop ups right now at a few breweries. Tara Kitchen cares...about the community and its success and that makes the food taste even better!More

I'd agree: Let the server know and it shouldn't be a problem. They were so accommodating to us, even "holding" the kitchen open as we came in just before closing.
