Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We travel once a year to the Dance Flurry weekend event in Saratoga Springs. We always make a point to eat at Scallions at least once, and this time we ate there twice. I perused my previous reviews, and simply could not believe that I had never commented on this exceptional dining destination. I am here to make up for that.
This restaurant has a relatively casual atmosphere, small, with close tables which actually encourage people to look to left or right, and start a conversation with adjacent tables when the food is delivered. The food presentation is so striking as to immediately cause one to lean over and ask, "what is that? It looks so good". Sometimes a conversation ensues. The secret is that EVERY item on the small but fascinating menu has striking presentation, from appetizers to salads to main courses.
It's hard to explain how a Polenta and Mushroom appetizer, or the Souvlaki Salad, or the Shrimp and Lobster Scampi dinner could be examples of the whole being far tastier than the sum of its parts. But they are. One never gets the sense that recipes have been borrowed, but that they have been created by an extremely talented chef (perhaps the owner, I really don't know). Flavors are subtle and unusual. The house dressing is like nothing you have ever tasted. And nearly every dinner is served with naan, something one normally associates with Indian restaurants, but is just one more thing that makes Scallions unique.
The staff, from management to wait staff, is of the highest professionalism. They convey a casual manner consistent with the ambience, but they deliver 5 star service: attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, in short, the treatment one wants from a special eating establishment.
My only regret is that we live 2 1/2 hours away. If we were local, I assure you that we would be dining there regularly. I look forward to our next meal there next year.

This restaurarnt, on the corner of Lake Ave. (off Broadway, the main drag) and Henry St., is the type of place you'd like to go to for a ladies lunch, although dinner is available as well. The atmosphere is funky & artistic looking with brightly colored tables, some with sayings on them. Heads up that as they don't have their own parking lot, you'll have to find street parking. We did find a parking spot (unmetered) on the street. Although we ended up walking about 3 or 4 blocks to the retaurant, it was a nice day. Their website says "Reservations are strongly recommeneded." It also notes "Known for unique homemade soups, paninis. Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan items, sandwiches and salad combinations." Their salads are interesting. While they don't offer the more expected Cobb or Chef Salads, their salads may contain items such as duck leg confit, crabcakes, or fennel.
While my dining companion enjoyed his lunch, I took off one star because of 2 things. #1.: I ordered the Souvlaki Salad, because it sounded like something different to me. The menu description did indicate that the salad & chicken were on top of "grilled naan with tzatziki sauce." Because of this though, the dressing on the salad just make the tzatziki sauce underneath thin & runny. The idea of the dish was better than how it tasted. #2.: While I specifically requested to our waitress that my salad NOT be served until I was done with my soup, the salad appeared before I was finished with my soup. This is a pet peeve of mine! A person, who I assumed was the manager, did come over asking what she could do to make it better & offered to keep my salad warm. As the idea of dried out chicken did not sound enticing to me, I declined, &, by that time, had finished my soup... If a friend asked me to eat here though, I'd be willing to go back & just would order something else.

I’m so sorry we waited so long to try Scallions after moving here. Cod with ratatouille was a wonderful dish, and a bargain at $23 with an excellent salad as well. Cocktails and wine were fairly priced, unlike some places in town. Tap water was provided snd was fine, unlike many restaurants in town which push bottled water, and where tap is sometimes terrible.
We will surely make up for lost time and return soon.

My mother n law brought me, my husband and daughter here for our 25th wedding anniversary dinner. When we arrived there were very few people so I expected a short wait for our meal. I had a feeling things would go wrong since the waitress took our order without writing it down. We ordered salmon cakes for an appetizer, my husband and I ordered the short rib special, my daughter ordered linguini marinara with chicken and it came with burrata (we've never heard of it before), and my mother n law ordered the pricey kobe steak dish. Our dinners came with side salads. The first thing that came out about 45 mins later, was the salads. Approximately 20 minutes later came the main courses. We mentioned that they forgot the appetizer, and only asked if we still wanted it or not, which we did. Our short ribs were OK, but very fatty. I'm a trained chef, and found my whole meal to be bland / way underseasoned. My daughter's meal was very disappointing. The chicken was strangely cut into small chunks and the burrata, which is supposed to be served at room temperature was ice cold (put on top of a hot meal!!!!) What was really upsetting is that after forgetting our appetizer and not even apologizing for the long wait time for our food, we were charged for the appetizer. I am used to restaurants being extremely apologetic when something goes wrong, and offering something to make up for it... but all we ended feeling is frustrated with our visit and not wanting to return.

Had dinner on Saturday night with my wife and two other couples, prior to ordering the server informed us that they didn’t have their signature chicken dish (no chicken at all), after our orders were placed, the server then informed us that they didn’t have any more steak. Two of us therefore switched our steak orders to the pork chops. The server then came back and said we have no more pork chops after describing how good they are. That required three of us to re-order duck and lobster scampi which were only so-so and a mushroom polenta dish (which was uneatable). So Saturday night and no chicken, steak or pork. Further, no sign of the manager or offer to buy a round of drinks or dessert and worse they made the poor server (who was very nice) deliver the news.

I am very sorry to hear about your unpleasant dining experience with us last Saturday night. I understand that an apology or an excuse at this point will not change the experience you had. I can only use this feedback to help train and pivot our staff to ensure experiences like this cease to happen. The last 18 months have been very difficult on everyone. The restaurant industry continues to struggle with purchasing, staffing, and day to day operations. While this is not the fault of our guests, we ask them to try and be understanding of the fact that we may drop the ball from time to time. We never intentionally try and ruin anyone’s experience. We are managing everyday with new obstacles that we have never encountered before. We do appreciate feedback and will use any and all to make appropriate changes to better the experience for everyone. Thank you for your feedback and once again we apologize for the poor experience. – Scallions Owner

My cousin and I wanted to go somewhere nice for lunch. We chose Scallions. We were very disappointed with the customer service and the quality of our food. Initially, we were seated at a table which experienced a continual cold air flow. It took 3 requests to finally be offered two seats at the bar. The table next to us were reseated after their initial request due to the cold air flow.
I ordered a grilled garden wrap. The vegetables were mushy in an overwhelming amount of rice and the wrap was advertised as grilled, but was not.
Overall, a very disappointing experience. We will not be back.

This restaurant was a hidden gem for us off the main tourist stretch of Saratoga Springs restaurants. Enjoyed lunch for our anniversary. Included the Turkey & Brie with fig jam on grilled olive bread Panini with a side salad, Reuben Panini with a side salad, ice cold water and freshly made hot coffee. Scrumptious!

One of our party is a vegetarian, so this restaurant seemed to be a viable option. We ordered the hummus appetizer and were impressed with the flavor and presentation. The choice of the Ryan’s roast beef beef sandwich proved a winner both for the seasoning as well as the delicious hearty bread from Rock Hill breads. The falafel wrap contained generous portions of both veggies and falafel. We were so impressed with the service as well as the food that we returned the following day.

We normally don't visit the same restaurant twice while on vacation but made an exception with Scallions. Best food in a while and we've traveled extensively. The chef was super nice, introduced himself and told us more about the foods they use and made excellent recommendations. The falafel appetizer was incredible, as was the soup. The short ribs and pork roast were on point and the meat was just so tender. I happily hand over my "queen of pork" crown and keep eating at Scallions.
You won't be disappointed. Also, service was incredible, they remembered our names, what we'd ordered the day prior, were super friendly and attentive.

Among the best meals I've ever had (The Ultimate Falafel). Everyone with me (4 of us) was also very happy with their meal. I know one had the salmon. Cannot remember the other two entrees.
Menu has several Vegan options and they are marked as such.
Service was excellent.
This was on a weeknight in January, so we were able to get a table for four without a reservation. Otherwise, reservations are likely necessary - it is a small place.

Excellent location for a healthy brunch or lunch. If you come hungry opt for a wrap or sand which. Salads may leave you a little less satisfied.
Mamosa where great as always and Noah’s service and pleasant demeanour made our visit that much more enjoyable. Sunday brunch is our favourite at Scallions but anytime works as well.

We popped in this morning based on trip advisor reviews and what a great choice. We started with the Bloody Marys made w cucumber vodka and flavored w dill pickle juice. DELICIOUS! We chose the challah French toast with fruit and cinnamon butter, the everything bagel and egg and the panini. All of our dishes were delicious and arrived quickly and were hot! What’s better than that? Service was excellent and friendly. I will be back again for the brunch

Dined here for the second time in 15-20 years. The fried green tomatoes were good, side salad decent, cocktail good. The fish special was escolar. The dish was predominantly risotto (good) with 4-5 extremely thin slices of fish. The price was inflated for the portion of fish and the fish was a bit dry, not much flavor. From what I read online, this fish can be a digestive issue when eaten in more than moderate quantities, but the portion was not even moderate. The vegan sicilian panelle had a nice roasted vegetable ragu, but the "fried chickpea fritters" were actually somewhat dry chickpea cakes. Service was great, no complaints there. I don't think we will be returning.

My husband and I enjoyed our time here…loved the decor…beautiful tables…and excellent service! The meal was terrific. Started with the guacamole, Brie appetizer which was delicious. I had the scampi special which was scallops and shrimp but I don’t eat scallops so I had all shrimp served over pasta, excellent! My husband had the salmon which was equally good! Topped off with a warm brownie/ice cream dessert. The servers were very friendly…you were not rushed. Will definitely return here on our next visit to Saratoga! Highly recommend!

Kathleen is an absolute hoot, we loved her.
The peach soup was great, sweet but tangy, perfect for a hot summer day, very refreshing. Kobe flank steak special, amazing. Cod special, very good. Sesame tuna, excellent. The chef owner knows what he’s doing. I’d definitely go back.
