The execution of the brunch dishes did not live up to their menu descriptions. We met another couple for Sun. brunch. Only one person out of the four of us really enjoyed what she'd ordered, a Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Actually, she was the only one who ordered a lunch dish instead of a breakfast dish. When I saw on the menu that the Breakfast Burrito contained apple smoked bacon, I asked the waiter to make sure the bacon was crisp. Well, I guess I didn't need to bother, as the bacon pieces were so TINY you'd need a magnifying glass to find them! Another brunch companion who ordered the No Huevos Rancheros was disappointed that the butternut squash in the dish was undercooked. Also, his food was served several minutes after the rest of us had received what we'd ordered. On the plus side, our waiter was pleasant. I might have rated this place lower but took into consideration that one person in our group liked her food...

My husband and I came for Sunday brunch on our anniversary. They make a great Bloody Mary, and the food was fantastic! I got the breakfast burrito which was both delicious and huge! My husband enjoyed his mulled cider and biscuits and gravy, and we shared the avocado toast which was also good. Would definitely come back when in Saratoga!

Friendly service at this nicely appointed restaurant. There is a $5.95 charge for bread (pane di casa or rosemary) which happened to be delicious, but really! Counting on people that love bread and butter to pay (and I guess it worked!). My family loved the mussels meunière, and I sopped up the outstanding broth with my aforementioned expensive bread, and also the yummy crostini that came with the appetizer. My son and I got NY strips that were outstanding. My husband enjoyed his salmon, and the other son his pork. We passed on dessert. Worth the visit!

I am a local and have been to the Merc at least 5 times…each time trying to give it another shot but I just can’t anymore. Our meal was so bad that they had to comp our entire bill. My husbands food was cold so they offered to remake it and less than 3 minutes later they delivered him a new plate (how that was possible I don’t know) but that plate was cold too. My food was room temperature but I decided just to eat it even though it was sub par and zero flavor. I have sent my food back 3 of the last 4 times I ate here. The manager was rude but our server was excellent! I like to support local businesses but unless I’m just having a drink at the bar I will never eat here again.

My wife and I had dinner at the Merc before going to the Cafe Lena just a few blocks away. We parked near the cafe and made our way to the restaurant passing restaurants with blaring music and lousy rock bands. Dark medieval looking sports bars etc. The Merc was a place where the music was low and you could actually have a conversation with the person you where with. Tables widely spaced so plenty of elbow room. We both had the PEI mussels in a wonderful broth. The mussels where large and meaty. Caesar salad was true to form. Just one more thing. I hear people complain on Tripadivor about the price of some items. Read the menu if you do not like the price do not order it or just politely leave and go someplace else!

We were 2 couples and were famished when reached The Mercantile.. We were quickly seated and ordered 4 dishes. The wait for food was long but when it arrived it satisfied me and my husband's tastebuds. Our friends are little picky eaters they dint enjoy the food much but I guess it is not restaurant's fault, they should have specified their requirements beforehand. The food was economically priced, we sat outside in shade and enjoyed it, I will recommend the place.

It is VERY loud inside although the interior is really fascinating with its architecture. We ate outside on the patio, which would have been fine except for a very boisterous (and possibly intoxicated?) group of young men at the next table. We could not hear ourselves talk to each other. As such, it was about 10-15 minutes before anyone came to bring us water or ask if we were ready to order....not until the rowdy group left. Our food was delicious when it finally arrived. It did seem to take a long time (well over 30 minutes) from when we placed our order. The restaurant is very dog friendly on the patio, and they will bring a pan of water to your table for your dog. On the flipside, our server was petting the dogs and rubbing their ears; I assume and hope that she washed her hands afterwards and before serving any food/drinks. I know this place has a great reputation, and our food was very good, but I'd have to think twice about returning here. Hmmm.

We met another couple for brunch on a Sunday. The drinks order took at least 20 minutes to be delivered and it wasn’t difficult: a beer, a coffee and two Tito’s & lemonade. We ordered two omelettes, French toast and a cheeseburger. That took over an hour to deliver. The fries with the cheeseburger were stone cold. The omelette and French toast were ok but not remarkable. Clearly the kitchen is overwhelmed and the management of orders and drinks leaves a lot to be desired. Merc is a cute spot with the potential for a good dining experience. Unfortunately, on this day, they did not deliver.

We went for brunch at the latest time available for brunch - I think it was about 2:30PM. The waitress was obviously at the end of a long shift and was not friendly and very bored and clearly wanted to be done. She monotonely suggested “my fav cocktail is ___” without even looking at us. Clearly a rehearsed suggested offered without the slightest enthusiasm. It was almost funny. The food was good but very heavy and laden with fat at every turn. An appetizer of deviled eggs was delish but overdone with even more cream and fat. The atmosphere was very lively and extremely noisy. A table of young adults sat near us and they were screaming over the loud music. We didn’t even try to talk since it would have been impossible.

I read the reviews and was worried. It's October 2021 and I'm still not eating our or sitting to close to others. The Merc was a welcome surprise. Lots of outside seating, spaced out seating inside, really good food and friendly staff. The 'small plates' were much bigger and truffle fries and hummus plate and three wedge salads was sufficient for myself and two sisters. Service was excellent, friendly, helpful, on top of it. My biggest 'complaint' was I wish there was a menu with a list of bar items as we didn't want mixed drinks. They said there wasn't one. Outside of that - I highly recommend The Merc. We really enjoyed the meal and our time there.

A very nice brunch. No problem getting a table on Saturday morning at 9:30am but by 10:30 it was hopping! The egg sandwich was big & a tasty. The devil eggs were good. The avocado toast was a bit bland & the cucumbers slices were too big to eat as is. Very friendly/personable staff.

Inside too noisy to enjoy our meal. Hubby left with a headache. Returned the black bean burger to the kitchen; it was too painful to eat--greasy, hard, crusty consistency; quinoa fried or refried into hardened pellets. Had delicious veggie burgers in three different Saratoga Springs restaurants this week and all the others were fantastic. Avocado toast and salmon nicoise are excellent. Amanda is an excellent server.

Awful. Came one time for breakfast on a snowy morning, got there 5 minutes before they opened and they asked us to wait outside! Tried it again for dinner and had a 730 reservation, when 815 came around and we weren't seated we asked when we would be and 3 hostesses trying to work an iPad said 13 minutes, then 25 minutes, then didn't know. Meanwhile people without reservations were seated. Never again

The highlight of the meal was the roasted brussel sprouts with a really good mustard sauce. The best I've had! Shortrib dish was huge and delicious, but the mushroom bolognese was one note and too sweet. Side of green beans was sub-par (bacon couldn't save them). It's also a bit noisy, but maybe that's because the bar does really nice cocktails.

We arrived late in Saratoga Springs on a Friday night and were starving. We went in to the Merc to see if the kitchen was still open. It was closing in 5 minutes but the staff said please come sit and order! They were so nice to serve us - I am sure they were all tired after a long night! I had the smashed burger and it was delicious! My husband had a vegetarian dish. Our cocktails were made well too. All in all a great dinner and a very generous staff!
