The house salad was mostly the white part of romaine. The sole stuffed with crab and shrimp was bland with a gloppy sauce. The wine list is very fair as to range and price.
We sat for more than 20 minutes before we were even able to order a drink. This despite the 'host' had nothing else to do. They had one server for the more than 40 covers that I counted.

After reading some reviews about poor service I was sceptical about going. However our experience was great! We had reservations at 7 for six people. One of our party was wheelchair bound. We were seated right away and our server was there in minutes. Our table was on the deck and had a perfect view of the sunset. Drinks and food were delivered in a timely fashion and was delicious. I had the rack of lamb and it was cook perfectly. Definitely recommend this place.

We had reservations for six of us 5:30 on Sunday. The place was empty in the dining area. We unfortunately could not be seated in the enclosed deck area overlooking the lake because only parties of two or four were seated out there. What a shame as the views were stunning. I chose to order two appetizers for my dinner since I was not very hungry. I ordered the Original Tapas tray and the Stuffed Portobello Mushroom. My Honey ordered the Beet Salad. My Tapas consisted of three of Crab Rangoon, Fried Pork Dumplings and several Grilled Marinated Bourbon Steak and all were all very good. The Stuffed Portobello Mushroom was even better. Very tasty indeed. My Honey did not enjoy her Beet Salad as much, as her experience this time did not meet her expectations/memories of when she had before. Also there was not enough beets for her. The rest of our party seemed to enjoy the Grilled Prime Rib, the Salmon and Veal very much. Our server Alexis was very friendly, helpful and attentive. The gentleman that seated us didn't seem very friendly nor enthusiastic but that did not deter us. The place started receiving more diners as the evening went on. The adjacent room had a large private party celebrating a special occasion. The dinner was very Delicious and if we were able to be seated on the enclosed deck I would have given then a five rating. We were very happy with our choices and we recommend.

Visited with my family for a late lunch after hiking. We ordered a small pizza, 2 orders of wings and 2 beers. When the wings came out the were absolutely BLACK. I couldn’t believe that the cook would think those were acceptable to send out to someone or that the waitress would think there were ok to put in front of someone. My husband’s were less black than mine and he ate his, except for one that looked like a piece of charcoal. I took mine up to the bar and said I could not eat them. Of course, the next wings that came out were rubbery and slimy, also inedible. They were also $14.50 per 10. At one point I could hear the waitress and the (manager??) talking about the wings. “Who the f*#! Wants to eat black wings!”
The pizza was fine. Hot, cheesy. Not nearly as good as they advertise it to be. They comped our drinks because of the wings, which was nice but I literally went away without eating lunch because the food was so awful.

My family (myself, parents and son) and 2 guests dined outside on the porch on Tuesday, July 25. Overall the food was very good as usual, service was decent and there we felt safe (server was wearing a face shield, the tables were cleaned and propertly distanced, etc). The problem occured a few days later.
On Friday, they posted on their FB page that an employee tested postive for covid and that they were shutting down (the vague post has since been taken down). I was obviously concerned for my parents who are in their late 70s and I needed to tell something to the parents of the two guests we brought (who were under 18). Did the employee work in the kitchen, was it a sever or someone who maintained the property or cleaned the rooms? What was the potential exposure to our party? Should I be tested, do I quarantine and what do I tell the people who I interacted with over the last several days? A void of information and many unanswered questions about a potentially very serious situation.
I contacted Woods Inn and the phone was not answered. The next day on a local Facebook page, I posted about what happened and began interacting with management (via the comment feature), specifically the gentleman who posted on the Woods Inn Facebook page. He refused to provide any additional information and referred me to the County Health Department (it was closed as it was Saturday).
Obviously the employee's identity who tested positive needs to remain confidential, but in my opinion, a retail establishment has a duty to provide better information to their patrons. If you want repeat business, pay attention to your guests after you swipe their credit card. I will take my business elsewhere.

We were greeting by the host with "I have to let you know, we do not accept walk ins." We had reservations. A $50. deposit is required when making a reservation. We got our drinks quickly. Sat for 35 minutes until I called out to a passing waitress "may we have some bread?" We were in a lovely private room, with our party of 7. Food was served after 80 minutes. Everyone said it was OK, but me. I was informed that my medium rare prime rib would be grilled. It was medium well, very dry, burned on the edges. The glazed carrots were very good. The smashed potatoes had no skins. I suspect they were instant with some garlic added. Total bill, with bottle of wine and 2 beers, $250. plus tip.

Five of us dined here and were excited to be at such a lovely, classic looking Adirondack resort - big disappointment. First of all, the service was terrible - our dinner took two hours only because we waited soooo long for our meal - we did not order an appetizer, and nothing else was available (no bread, rolls, anything) until our meal came. Once the meals came, a prime rib that was supposed to be well done was very rare! One person asked for a condiment and it arrived long after the request and when it was no longer needed! Same with ordering an extra drink - came too late! And the place was not even busy - about 4 other tables had guests. The food was good, but not very good - not worth the prices! I understand college age staff disappear after summer is over, but any good restaurant would take this into account when taking reservations - and as I said, it really wasn't even that busy - just uninspired staff I think!

We had dinner at the Woods Inn for my husband's birthday. Excellent food! The Adirondack Field & Stream was incredible. Would definitely recommend! Excellent views at sunset!

Restaurant did not meet expectations. Used app to book reservations even though we are staying there as we have little confidence in the on-hand staff to record requests on the basis of the prior interactions we’ve had with the staff. Requested outside seating at 730pm via the app which the outside req was new info to the hostess. Albeit should not not Be surprising request given the view coupled with the COVID environment. Overheard the staff saying “only an hour and half left” at 730pm, and we began to sense the impending doom. Hostess told us to wait and she’d find us as they were hoping to clear an outside table soon. When we checked back in 40 mins later, she had thought we left. While still waiting, a guest who had been waiting 2 hours for food notified her server her party was leaving. Resetting tables was disorganized and we were again forgotten in the mix. In and around this same time, other inadequately informed patrons were standing around... embarrassing for us, others waiting, seated guests, and perhaps maybe even the staff. We bailed at 840pm. I really don’t think anyone cared, and if our departure had been noticed, would have likely been seen as a relief to the staff. While sitting in our room we overheard the menu shortages that we had anticipated. We’ve been coming here for about 7 years and the service has always been “iffy”. Having read the proprietor’s other responses, I’m doubtful this review will be viewed as constructive to the Inn...but hopefully it will be for readers. In total, it’s very unfortunate given a location with such potential.

There were 9 of us and they took such excellent care of us! Our server was Heidi and she was perfect! Our food was amazing! I had the chicken pot pie and it fed me for 3 days! The risotto was delicious! We were all so full that we shared a piece of berry cake which was so good! The other choices for the desserts looked delicious. After dinner, we enjoyed a stroll down by the water and out on the pier. The perfect ending to a perfect meal was the full moon!

Dinners at the Overlook were amazing. I stayed at the Woods Inn for four nights, and had 3 meals at the Overlook. I noticed the other diners included many locals and visitors not staying at the hotel, as well as hotel guests. The service was excellent, the staff friendly, but the food was, in general, divine. I tried two of their soups, Shrimp and Corn Chowder, and French Onion. Both were perfectly seasoned, with good broths and fresh ingredients. Nothing from a can! I also tried one appetizer, the Crab Cakes, which were cooked just right (crispy on the outside, soft on the inside). They came with a smear of Remoulade Sauce, and a small, slightly bitter salad, which lent a perfect balance to the sweetness of the crab. For entrees, I tried the Roast Duck and Venison. The duck was crackly-crispy, and sat on a delicious Grand Marnier sauce. It was served with a scoop of whipped sweet potatoes and fresh green beans. The Venison, marinated all day in oil and balsamic vinegar, was simply the best I have ever eaten - tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. The price was pretty high, but for such perfection? Totally worth it.

Although we did not have reservations we were able to be seated. The dinner was great! I had rosito with shrimp and my husband had steak. We did not stay for dessert as we were having ice cream at Northern Lights Creamery.
The service could have been better - dishes were not removed for at least 15 minutes after we were done eating.
A table nearby had 2 toddlers running around and loud, adults not providing entertainment for them. Was quite a distraction in such a nice restaurant.

We dined here several times while a guest at the hotel. We found: excellent service, a full menu, staff flexibility (we were even served on the dock). AND prices were reasonable (We intensely dislike being ripped off as guests captive to a resort hotel).

My granddaughter and I were looking to get a burger for dinner when we came upon the Woods Inn Tavern & Restaurant. We were told we would have to eat in the tavern or outside as we wanted to order from the Tavern Menu. My granddaughter is 9 years old. We didn’t want to eat outside due to the black fly population. The ladies who worked the tavern were extremely friendly. The menu though was another story. The price for a cheeseburger was $10.99. You had to pay $2 extra for a side of fries. The burger was supposed to have potato chips which we never got. I got the burger which was a prepackaged frozen patty. It came on a charred roll and had a pickle. There was nothing else with it such as lettuce, tomato, or mayo. I should have just purchased a box of Bubba burgers and grilled them myself. They weren’t even seasoned. I couldn’t even finish eating it. The fries that we paid extra for weren’t much better and we didn’t get many of them. My granddaughter got a chicken and cheese quesadilla that came with a side of guacamole paste, salsa, & sour cream. The price was also $10.99. She ended up eating just the chicken. Very over priced for prepackaged food. I would not suggest eating meals here. I would probably enjoyed a sub from the gas station better than the food here.

Dawn,
We pride ourselves in providing an exceptional experience for our guests. I want to apologize for your experience and let you know that ownership, management, and our chef take feedback very seriously.
Our Laughing Loon Tavern has Adirondack themed tables and chairs as well as a separate game room and partitioned lounge with a flat screen TV for our guests to select their own tv programming from one of our many HD cable channels. This area has comfy Adirondack themed chairs that are in a circle to promote conversation with the option of looking at the flat screen tv. We frequently have guests that stay with us at the Inn who use this flat screen tv for Disney channel shows or cartoons to keep the little ones occupied.
We’re glad that you enjoyed the service of our staff as that is a critical piece of The Woods Inn experience.
At 8:22 PM, when the order was placed, you and your granddaughter ordered a cheeseburger (cooked medium), up-charge for fries to sub the chips, a chicken quesadilla (only chicken and cheese, no vegetables), and a Sierra Mist.
Our hamburgers are made to order to our customers liking and we also have potato salad on the menu as a substitute for chips at no additional charge. Our French fries from the tavern are also made to order and cooked in an air fryer.
Your granddaughters chicken quesadillas were made to order as requested and had grilled chicken and cheese.
We would like you to give us another opportunity to show you how much time and thought went into our tavern menu with it’s tapas plate, tuna tataki, gluten free fish tacos, and kids menu in addition to many more carefully selected items.
We truly appreciate our customers and want each one to have a positive experience. Please do not hesitate in calling us and asking for one of the owners as they (The Frey Family) would love to invite you and your granddaughter back for some conversation, Disney channel, and great food.
Warm Regards,
The Frey Family

Dan D from Ballston Spa hit the nail on the head with this review titled Wedding at the Woods Inn. My daughter's wedding was there also and our experience was identical with respect to Charlie and Gordie - they were rude and unhelpful.
We have a long family history in Inlet and at the Woods Inn and managed to have the spectacular wedding of our dreams there despite the obstacles put in place by the staff. You can pull it off, but hire your own independent wedding planner as Gordie will be missing in action throughout, except to make snide remarks.
The most annoying details that stand out to me include the staff refusing to close the storm curtain when it rained during the rehearsal dinner (our friends climbed on chairs and did it,) Charlie yelling at my mother, the bride's grandmother, a paying guest at the Inn, for eating a yogurt she had brought while taking a break from setting up the flowers, finding out as we walked down the aisle that there weren't enough chairs set on the lawn for all of the guests to view the ceremony. Gordie was right there to nastily inform me that there is too much of a slope for more chairs (I don't believe that is true, but informing us ahead of time would have been courteous.) The manner in which both Charlie and Gordie spoke to us throughout was as though we were unwelcome and annoying to them.
However, the food was wonderful, the bartender was super nice and the lake and grounds are gorgeous. We brought our own decorations and flowers and the place looked absolutely amazing.
Hopefully they will take these comments to heart and make some changes. If they did it would really be possible to have the spectacular wedding of your dreams at the Woods Inn and not be left with unnecessary bad memories.
