Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tamara(aka Flo), takes good care of you. She's a friendly local who allowed me to 'borrow' two coffees and then pay a bit later. If you want a breakfast that feels like you're in a Cheers episode, then Tamarack Cafe is your place. Oh yah, food is decent with generous portions.

Such a sweet little café! Very rustic and cozy. I sat along the counter up front and was quickly served coffee with a smile. I ordered the blueberry pancakes- they were wonderful! It was really busy that morning, but I didn’t have much of a wait time for anything! I would definitely go back next time I pass through town.

Ordered a chicken tender and hamburger meal that came with 2 drinks for $30. Not crazy bad except the meal came with 2 tenders. Really? Watched multiple people order and be told they were out of 50% of the menu. It would’ve been ok if the staff was upfront or communicated what they had versus what they didn’t. Or rather than sneakily shortchange a meal instead they should have offered an alternative. Best part was all meals were to go only so we didn’t notice it until we left the area.

We stopped in on a Saturday for a late brunch, and found that they would be closing at 2:00 pm. Our waitress was super-friendly & helpful. But not everything on the menu could be prepared close to closing time, so we chose a simple grilled cheese sandwich & BLT. Food was not all that tasty, portions were small, but the price wasn't small. It was cash only. This diner was in dire need of a face-lift, and traversing the creaking floorboards down the hall to the bathroom gave the impression that something might break underneath. Doubt we would go back unless they do a complete makeover on the place.

We love local places and with that we also expect that up in the Adirondacks, its going to be a little slower paced - which is perfectly fine. What is perplexing about this place, is the summer is over, leaf-peeping season about to begin, and you would think this place just opened the way everyone was scurrying around. When we got there (945am) there were a few people ahead of us because they had to "catch up"....ok. Three tables outside empty, a few tables inside stacked with dishes. 6 or so seats at the counter empty. We were all patient. We finally got seated and were told by the server that they are so busy right now that they won't even let her go to the bathroom (wow, ok don't really need to know that), as she proceeds to wipe her nose across her arm...we should have left right then and there. I've read the other reviews about how charming and quaint this place is - I really wish I could have seen it this way, because all we saw was a lot of running around and nothing really getting done.
I will say the food that was getting pumped out looked good - large portions, but honestly, pricey - and its the only place in town that serves a full breakfast so they've pretty much got you there.
Our server should not be a server. I'll just leave it at that, but she is the reason why we left before our food was served. The other servers, also running around, at least were able to keep things moving. We finally decided to leave (after 40 minutes) because we watched our server put 2 breakfasts down on the counter seats beside us even after the couple insisted this wasn't their meal - the customer picked up the toast about to eat it, and she came scurrying back and said "no wait thats not yours",....he put the toast back on the plate (after almost eating it mind you), and the server proceeded to attempt to drop it off at several more tables, finally ending up in front of me, insisting that it was mine. My response was 'are you kidding me? You're going to try to serve that when another patron already touched it?' The answer sadly, was of course, yes......
So we were out of there (40 minutes too late). I know the other servers care, but I've read these reviews back to 2012 or so, and the same problems still exist....and only once has the owner responded to an unfavorable review - that should tell you something. We should have spent the 40 minutes and went to Old Forge. If someone wanted to open up a competing establishment for breakfast in Inlet, they could probably make a killing!

Came for breakfast. Was refused eggs unless on the grille (they can't or won't boil water?) So ordered pancakes. They were fine, but delivered with a meager amount of syrup. The floorboards are rickety and the bar shakes when employees walk by. VERY long wait for food (unfairness, they were busy). The FINAL INSULT was 9.95 for two pancakes. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!

The special was peach pancakes. Great. Only problem the plates to small for three pancakes so they get mushy.Bigger plate would be great. I had eggs, homefries and toast it was good. The staff was very nice and the coffee was ok.

Stopped in with a buddy after doing a hike, just after 11 when they are about to end breakfast (11:30) and start lunch. Waited for a couple of minutes for someone to acknowledge us then about 5 minutes while they figured out if we could get a table outside. We finally just said we would sit at the counter. We waited another 5-10 minutes before anyone checked in on us. The staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. I tried to order an omelette with onion, pepper and cheese but they didn’t have any peppers that were not already prepped for their menu omelette, none of which I liked as they all either had corn or meat included. I ended up ordering pancakes which were good. The waitress also did refill my coffee regularly and the prices were what you might expect for this kind of restaurant. Overall a bit disappointed with the service and inability to make my own omelette but in the end the food was OK and cost reasonable.

Have been going to Tamarack for years. This is a great little place that is a must stop while in the Adirondacks. The food is always good and the people are pleasant and efficient.

Went for breakfast with my 9yr old. Breakfast was small portions and just ok. Chocolate milk was 3.50. Coffee 2.50. Total was over 20.00 for my son and I. Will not be back. Go into Old Forge and go to Walts diner. Way better food and you'll spend about half there.

I have eaten at the Tamarack for about 5 years. Its a great place to stop for lunch or breakfast. The menu has a nice variety of great tasting food which won't disappoint. The atmosphere is that of a rustic Adirondack diner. The staff is friendly and the establishment is always clean. Outdoor seating is available. The many breakfast and lunch dishes I have had here over the year have always been reliably good and this little place deserves a try if you are looking for something good to eat in the Inlet area.
