Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Always plan a visit to the Old Barn on Saturday nights when prime rib is the special. Can’t beat the price for a nice cut cooked just the way you like it.

It's an old favorite. Don’t be fooled by the ”for sale” status. The broiled haddock is generous and nicely cooked. We had a part of nine and the rest enjoyed the friend entrees. This is a bigbrestsursnt, so you can usually get a seat during the Friday Fish Fry tradition that is alive and well in the Adirondacks.

The wait at the Red Dog was an hour, so we dined at the Ole Barn. Food was just OK and probably a step down, but we didn't have to wait at all for it on a Friday night. We had the fish fry and it was adequate but not great.

We had excellent service and very good French Onion Soup. Unfortunately that was the extend of the positive. My Caesar salad was barely cool, closer to warm. One of $26 Strip steak dinners was cooked properly, but a skimpy looking cut ; the two prime ribs were tough; and how sadly disappointing to cut into a "baked" potato's that had clearly been cooked hours before hand and left in warm oven; soggy skins and gluey interior. not even worth eating. My Son ordered a onion blossom; which was pre packaged frozen onion strips put in a fryer. Nothing seemed homemade or actually cooked on site? My fried chicken? I'm fairly certain was Frozen Banquet type that had been stored in a freezer for a very long time, and then thrown in a fryer...the crust was so hard I could not eat it, nor would i finish as the chicken tasted old. a 12" pizza was ok, but nothing special since kids only wanted peperoni. French fries were ok but not served hot and crisp. Not sure where the "$6-12" pricing on this restaurant comes from; there was nothing Entrée wise that was under 13-$15 and most Entree's were mid $20's. When our over $200 bill came, (still generously tipped since it was not her fault the food was awful) we felt pretty taken and chalked it up to just a bad experience.

Do not recommend was not impressed in any way. Looked good on google, had some good reviews and we were looking for an affordable family restaurant. It was myself, my other and our 5 kids. I was really excited at first...the place is cool and unique. It's a really strange atmosphere but that's what I like. So first thing you see at the register when waiting to be seated is that there is an upcharge to using a card, I was paying cash anyways...I got over that..not that big of a deal but still not a great buisness tactic. We were seated and offered menus quickly. The selection was mediocre and prices were above average. Everyone but myself ordered soda, I only drink water. The waitress was an older lady who was very nice and friendly but took awhile to get our drink and diner orders. The other and myself ordered burgers but didn't get any addition toppings because they charge extra for lettuce and onions. Pretty sad! They do not have bacon at all at their restaurant so don't expect a bacon cheese burger. Kids got shrimp and chicken strip baskets. While waiting awhile for the food, one of the kids spilled their drink....could not find any help to clean it up, waitress was no where to be found. We cleaned it ourselves. Was taking a good bit to get our diners and everyone drank all their drinks while waiting. Recieved our food. Burgers were gross , almost no flavor, obviously very over processed frozen meat with alot of filler. Everyone complained about the fries being oily tasting and under cooked. The shrimp were no bigger than a tic tac with a ton of breading. One kid ordered the Ziti special ...which was very good. On the overall the food was very subpar for the price, Ive had better meals at Burger King. While eating our meals we still needed drink refills from waiting, and being spilled, and napkins from the clean up. No waitress to be found. We had to go up to the waitress station and help ourselves. Had to track down the bartender to get refills. Had to ask three time for additional dipping sauce took over 10mins to get the dip. Then the worse of it.....the bill. We were so distracted by the high prices we never read the fine print at bottom of the menu. The refills were not free so there was $23 dollars in soda alone. Then to add insult, there was a mandatory 20% gratuity charge . They got a $27 tip for the absolutely worse service I've seen in a long time. Say none the less we will never return. We left with the horrible feeling like we were just highway robbed and taken advantage of.. Everything in the place is a money grab with subpar food and service service.

I cannot believe this place is still open. The food is the worst ever. It’s too bad because the place itself is beautiful..!

Every time we go up too the Adirondacks, we make a stop at the Ole Barn. Great variety of food, for any age, from kids to adults. You'll be glad that you ate there !

We hadn't been to the Ole Barn in a few years. Not sure why but decided to stop by for dinner. We should have stopped by sooner. Food was great and the service was outstanding. We will definitely make this a regular stop again.

It was our first time to The Ole Barn inIet, NY and what a wonderful experience we had. The Friendly owner waited on us. We went to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were seated by a window so the humming birds entertained us during our dinner in their beautiful garden area. First we were served a delicious (warm) loaf of bread with lots of butter. Then we both had french onion soup that was awesome~ My husband had the meatloaf special served with real mashed potatoes and I had the garlic haddock with a big baked potato. Both were excellent. We were both very pleased, and chatted with the owner before we left. We really look forward to going back again. Thank you both so much for a wonderful dinner and evening out.

The food was excellent at this restaurant. Even though they are trying to sell it you need to try this restaurant. It was very clean, spacious, decorated well, has a beautiful garden and the people were really nice.

Love this place. Kathy & Ron run an awesome family restaurant ... which, yes, also has a bar. But kids are no problem... Kathy & Ron's grand kids grew up here and are awesome servers! Plenty of parking, lots of tables, and a great menu: everything from staple comfort food (Ron makes a great meatloaf and his lasagna is delicious, too) ... to the 'dinner crowd' pleasers, such as chicken parm ... and lots of nightly specials. If this place is not on your list, it should be.
