Service is a little slow, but outside of Astoria Plaka is a well-managed family restaurant with good food. We ordered chicken noodle soup, spinach pie, and a chicken souvlaki platter with lemon potatoes. You can't go wrong with that. Perhaps we might come back?

Amazing Food and Service. Family owned business.

The food is amazing! One of the many dishes we ordered was the grilled seafood platter that had octopus, shrimp, calamari and some grilled vegetables. It was so well done that the flavors were like party in your mouth. The octopus was so soft and tasty that it melted in your mouth. The entire staff is so polite and friendly. The service is amazing. We went with our family and the owner Anna was so welcoming. She makes you feel as if you are eating at your families house. Will definitely keep coming here! It’s the best Greek restaurant I’ve been too in a long time.

Friendly neighborhood take-out (or, eat-in)

The no-nonsense, always reliable standby for Greek-centric Mediterranean offerings = most definitely, solidly within the mainstream mix of Queens Co. selections within that realm. No pressing need to travel to now congested Astoria, when Plaka (w/ample free parking + delivery options, to my knowledge) is at the avail! Tasty 'n fresh gyros and silvaki whenever required at times when it is chef's night off at home!

Great Meal!!!!!!!!

Non imposing place in a strip mall. Great food and service. I had lamb chops cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious. Very pleasant Greek music playing quietly as background. The place could use a little decorating and brightening. But that doe snot affect the quality of the food.

Excellent, and right by LaGuardia too!

Needed quick near LaGuradia and got lucky here with PLAKA. They got us in and out. Best grilled octopus I've/we've ever had; VERY, VERY flavorful. That said, their fried calamari was kinda dry and weird, not the best. Still, I'd/we'd go back again in a heartbeat.

Authentic Greek Food

We visited first on the recommendation of a neighbor who orders take-out from Plaka regularly. We ordered the octopus, a mixed appetizer plate, grilled calamari, and a greek salad to share. Everything was delicious, including the house white wine and the complimentary walnut cake. We took some of the appetizers and calamari home because the portions were pretty big. We went back last week and had another very nice meal: this time we ordered one of the whole black bass grilled, salad and appetizers. Everything tastes fresh and the servers have been friendly. We will definitely be back!

Tasty Fresh Greek Food

I have been lunching at Plaka for years. The food is always tasty and fresh and they offer so many yummy options. I usually order take out but whenever I have the chance to eat in the restaurant I take it. The place has a warm feeling to it although the restaurant is pretty big. The staff are always sweet.

Best Gyro Around

I love ordering to pick up. They are quick and their food is delicious. I mostly order gyros for pick up since they are a quick and nutritious lunch or dinner. Better and cheaper than going to those fast food places.

If you have a fresh fish fettish........

3.5 would be a better rating. I've eaten there 2 times and would likely go back due to the convenience of parking and the fresh fish. The service is very good but can be slow if they have more than five tables at a time. There's usually only one waitress who is very sweet and does an amazing job when not overwhelmed. The grilled fish selection is usually the best choice, but beware they can run out. The restaurant is deceptively large on the inside, but can be dim and a little dated in terms of decor. No full bar here, but lots of great red house wine. The food is good, especially the fish as I've harped on, but the rest can be hit or miss. Lemon potatoes on one visit were spot on, the next visit, lukewarm and tired in flavor. The hummus was a little on the loose side, yet had good flavor. The fish was cooked perfectly, but under seasoned. A little more salt, lemon juice and perhaps a sprig of fresh thyme and it would have been perfection. I think a few modern updates and this restaurant could be well into the 4 star range.

Wonderful food and big servings

The food we had was fish we had salmon and we have tilapia and they were both excellent. The grilled fish were cooked to perfection and accompanying them with Greek salad was also an excellent choice. Everyone is friendly and the meal becomes very enjoyable there

Wonderful and Homely Experience

After our flight to Toronto was canceled, checked into a hotel and looked for a local restaurant. we found Plaka Grill on line and I'd have to say I'm happy we did, we ordered home made appetizers, fresh fish, everything grilled just the way we like it, the wine was very nice and Sylvy the owner made us feel at home with smile and great service. we will definitely go back there next time we travel to NewYork and I recommend it to people who live there and people who are travelling, it is very close to the LaGuard Airport. Thank you Sylvy.

Excellent food.

We loved this little family run Greek restaurant in the heart of Elmhurst. We ordered keftedes (greek burger), with lemon potatos and moussaka. Both were delicious, by far the best keftedes I had for a long time. The place is nice and clean. The bathroom was so beautiful, I had to take a picture! Definitely coming back here again.

Greek food you look forward to!

Plaka has all the usual Greek food items you would expect to find. It's atmosphere is simple and quiet with a few tables outside if weather permits. It's perfect for a quick lunch or dinner with an authentic Greek menu. Everything I've had has always been delicious - and they can handle a large group if needed.
