Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The music and decor of the restaurant really sets the perfect mood for any occasion. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is amazing and affordably priced. Overall, the experience was amazing, and this has become my new go to restaurant.

All was awesome. The Mojito was maybe the best I ever had. My appetizer of Coconut Shrimp with Avocado salsa was delicious! I had the Salmon dish that was fabulous with a perfect glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Service was friendly and efficient. I hope I...stay long enough on this trip to go back. Definitely a 5 Star dining experience.More

We recently ordered from Casual Habana. We used to go regularly before the pandemic and loved the dine-in atmosphere and the music, but we ordered to go. Someone had written that they ordered a Cuban sandwich that came with yellow, not Swiss cheese. I can...say that ours came with Swiss and was perfectly cooked. They even served the sides of slaw and chips that we normally got when we dined in. We also had a side of shrimp in garlic sauce which was also cooked well. We were worried that the food might have declined during the pandemic, but we were well-satisfied.More

I love this restaurant. The service was great and the food was loaded with flavor. I felt safe from Covid and enjoyed a great sit down meal. If you are in Hackensack and need some good flavorful food. This is the spot. I want to...give my waitress Shanelly.More

had the breaded steak and morro. Both dishes were not good.. Breading was hard and burned. Rice was day old no spices no flavor. These are solid staple cuban dishes that are very hard to screw up.

I have not been here in quite some time. They had a mediocre buffet and they now have a liquor licence. They also remodeled. I wonder if the ownership changed. They will not give you separate checks either. The red Sangria was and the music...was good. :More

We didn't go to the Hackensack location, I believe is New Milford, NJ. The restaurant is very nice, rustic looking, it felt very comfortable. The food was very good. The plantain chips they serve first were different then what I am used to, but the...dip they come with was awesome! I had the Camarones al Ajillo (Garlic shrimps) which I'm used to getting them in a garlic oil sauce, these were creamy, but again, delicious! My husband's Vaca frita was yummy! All in all was a great meal and the service was very good, and attentive!! Will definitely visit again!More

Always have a great meal at this spot in downtown Hackensack. The food is authentic and plentiful. The waitstaff is helpful and attentive. If you come in the warmer months they now can open the front windows for a little more of an outdoor experience.

This small but cozy restaurant is huge in customer service and delicious food. And the cocktail selections are fun and tasty as well. I have visited on several occasions each time bringing other friends and have ordered a different dish each time and was always...pleased with the wonderful flavors. They have an all you can eat buffet brunch that looks great as well.More

We visited Casual Habana Cafe the other night while in the area. The level of service was entirely inconsistent with the quality of the food. We waited for five minutes to be seated in a restaurant that was a quarter full, at best. The hostesses...were inexplicably tag-teaming another customer while we stood an arm’s length from them. The wait staff noticed that we were standing there, but none bothered to step in to get us seated. In hindsight, we should’ve taken this as the foreshadowing it was. The service, from top to bottom was atrocious. If you told me this was a crew of people who had never worked in a restaurant before, I’d believe you without hesitation. Water glasses sat empty for 30 minutes, despite a request to have them filled. Food took ages to come out. Other than soup, I saw just one dish come out in the 35 minutes from the time we ordered until our food made it to our table. It took more than five minutes to receive our check. All this in a place that didn’t get to more than half-full by the time we left. Fortunately, it wasn’t a complete loss because the food was very good. The skirt steak with chimichurri, saffron rice, and sweet plantains was well-executed. My wife and son were less enthusiastic about their food, but I think the experience dragged down their impressions. Lots of potential here if they can get their acts together.More

No longer. The restaurant obtained a liquor license, renovated and put in a full bar. Drinks during happy hours are $5, I believe.
