Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is under new ownership. It had a different vibe to me.... when I go into an old-fashioned Jewish (Brooklyn) deli, I don't expect that I hear mostly Spanish spoken behind the counter. The deli is Hebrew National... anyone can sell that. What makes a good kosher deli are the old-world recipes that come from generations of Jewish cuisine. I would not order any of their "home-made" prepared meals. The matzoh ball soup is tasteless.

As long as you just order the deli (which is a Hebrew National product) you will be fine. Their prepared foods are not particularly good. The matzoh ball soup has no taste, whatsoever. I ordered the hot open brisket... not so good. Stick with a basic pastrami or corned beef. Unfortunately, they are the sole remaining kosher deli in the area. Years ago, they had a lot more competition. Until recently, I was travelling to Ryder's Lane to Lox stock and deli. The ruled supreme in the area, however, after the pandemic they never regained traction. I guess kudos to Fred and Murray's!

Informal, casual atmosphere and service. Quick bite or full meal. Lots of memories stirring as soon as you step through the door. All the items you crave and are so difficult to find elsewhere. Family owned forever. Worth the drive from almost anywhere. A favorite and a sure thing every visit!

We had company over and placed an order for pickup. When we picked up the food and returned home we found that one of the sandwiches was missing. We called up and asked them to deliver the missing sandwich but they refused. We had to go pick it up ourselves so our guest would not go hungry. The extra gas probably cost as much as the sandwich. The knishes were good but the corned beef was terrible. Those who had corned beef sandwiches found them so salty they were almost unpalatable. Also, the place isn't cheap. Next time we want deli we will try the Pickled Herring in Englishtown and write a review.

Brought in some turkey sandwiches today. They were awful. They were so salty considered throwing them out but didn't because they were outrageously expensive. Years ago the food was better. We're done. In the future we will go to the Pickled Herring in Marlboro

Whenever I am in NJ, this deli is my go-to for lunch. However, this weekend, I took my mom to the Fred and Murry's Kosher Deli. I watch the sandwiches be platted with no gloves. When they did wear gloves, the counter was wiped and money was handled with the same gloves that were used to plate food. It was pretty disgusting. There was no sanitation at all! I don’t think I’ll be going back any time soon.

We all ordered the matzah ball soup and the pastrami on rye. Soup was good but needed seasoning. Pastrami was good. Service was very good. Prices reasonable.

The group of 22 people had an arranged meal set in a private room. The staff were easy to coordinate with. We had a set menu with many selections, French fries, drinks, coffee and desserts. The table was set with pickles, cole slaw and health salad. Even though we had one waitress, she was so efficient and accomodating. The food arrived in a timely manner. We were all stuffed. The price was great for a kosher deli!!!!!! It was such an enjoyable experience.
Personally, my family lives in the area and we have had meals for holidays and brunch for my grandson's Bar Mitzvah catered from here. Definately good.

Had a take out chicken dinner, came with stuffed cabbage and two sides. The chicken had to be two days old, dried out, the stuffed cabbage was strange, meat stuffing was very dark in color and the taste was off.
This wonderful dinner ended up in the garbage. Not a good restaurant choice, no quality control.
I will never visit this restaurant again.

Really good deli and the people who work there. If you are a vegetarian, this is probably not the place for you.

Visiting friends in the area and wanted to try this landmark restaurant. I had pastrami extra lean. Bread was dried out and pastrami was a little tough. My wife had the matzo ball soup which she said didn’t have much flavor. She also had the potato latke with corned beef. We did enjoy the pickles on the table.

Typical kosher delicatessen. All deli sandwiches that are at any other kosher deli. Food is okay. Good wait staff & plenty of parking

The food is really good but heavy. The pastrami and corn beef are excellent. We ate in and did a takeaway for a small party. All was great. The pot pies are really good but heavy.
