This is a small "road stand" in the middle of a busy NYC suburb. There is limited parking. It's cash only. Besides hot dogs, burgers, etc, they do serve beer. And also Briar's Root Beer. You wait outside until called in the order. The inside dining area was closed off but there are plenty of picnic tables outside. The service was quick and friendly. The hot dogs were delicious hot dogs and worth the short wait for them to be cooked. The fries were OK, but again - the hot dogs were delicious. Well worth the stop.

I had dined at Hiram‘s for the past thirty (30) years, but it had been well over a decade since my last visit here. The hot dogs were absolutely amazing. Each plain hot dog was three dollars and seventy-five ($3.75). This restaurant also had hamburgers, fries, onion rings, and an assortment of beverages (both alcoholic and nonalcoholic). There were plenty of condiments to add to a person’s food. This restaurant could get very easily packed. The staff was nice. The parking lot could be difficult to navigate due to its congestion, but guests could parallel park on the adjacent streets. There were bathrooms which were just outside of the main indoor dining area. This restaurant had seating both indoors and outdoors. The only note of caution that I could provide for future customers is that this restaurant only allowed payment by cash.

Finally tried Hiram's Roadstand after watching it on Anthony Bourdain a few years back, and hearing about it from my husband, whose hometown is Fort Lee - so it used to be a HS hangout for him. We got there at around noon on Sunday. I believe there is a parking lot but there's also street parking, which was pretty easy. I had the cheese dog and a cheeseburger, and then we shared an order of cheese fries. I wish the the cheese dog was melted cheese like it was on the fries, but it was literally just a slice of American cheese underneath. Other than that, the hot dog was great. It had the perfect snap to it and just a slightly smokey flavor. I loaded it up with some sauerkraut, ketchup, and mustard but I think next time, I'll skip the sauerkraut. This overpowered the dog a bit. It's best to keep it simple - plain hot dog with just a little bit of ketchup and mustard. The cheeseburger was pretty basic, but not bad. It's definitely not something you'd come specifically to Hiram's for though. The cheese fries were also good but then again, you can't go wrong with cheese fries. It's not something you can/want to eat all the time since it's so heavy and greasy, but a nice once in a while treat.

I was told so many times to come here after going to a lot of places in the Newark area, and now I know why. This place was fast, clean, fairly cheap, and excellent. One of my kids got a plain dog and the other got a dog with ketchup (sigh, kids) and I got one with brown mustard and saucy onions and another with chili. The onions in the sauce were one of the best i've had. Similar to the ones I make myself but mine have a bit more of a kick to them. The chili was a solid chili. No beans or any other trash that doesn't belong in a hot dog chili, and it had great body and flavor. The dogs were huge and fried perfectly. Great snap to them and awesome flavor. We will be back here for sure, especially since it was such a quick hop from here to MetLife so I can drown my sorrows in doggies after my Giants inevitably let me down anytime I go to the stadium.

For as long as I can recall this hot dog stand has been around. At 1 theme there was a competitor across the street but they closed and then re-opened somewhere else but Hiram's is still there. Foot long hot dogs fresh cut fries and if you like you can also get a beer. It looks like the menu board has not changed its prices in years. In nice weather has lots of outdoor seating, in poor or cold weather lots or room inside.

Been wanting to hit Hiram's since we saw it on No Reservations quite a few years ago. Kept it very simple - chili dogs for both of us with an order of fries. Great dogs, crispy, hot fries (with toothpicks). Fantastic. Super nice counter guys. No need to say much more. Please visit. We will be back. RIP AB

I thought these very plump and juicy little buggers were very good. I particularly enjoyed the chili cheese dog with mustard and raw onions. The other was with mustard, kraut and relish. None of the condiments were standouts, but they all passed the test. I wasn’t overwhelmed, especially given the reputation, but it still is a cut above most of the rest . I’m not necessarily a dirty water dog fan, however Hanks Franks still remains my fav !

A hot dog stand that has not changed in years (and that is a good thing). Through the years Hiram's has been there and it does not seem like much has changed especially the hot dogs. Still a great dog definitely the best in NNJ

I wanted to judge how their hot dogs were, as they had been flatteringly reviewed. It was ok, different style was nothing special for me, and not cheap. I grew up with Hanks Franks in Lodi and I have yet to find somewhere I like more.

Hiram's serve delicious hotdogs with red onion BBQ sauce, just like the "dirty water" hotdog stands in Manhattan, but clean, toasty hot and super yummy

Great hot dogs but place very small and dark. There are other things on the menu like hamburgerd, french fries onion ring, and beer. Plenty of parking.
