Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The interior design of Gayeon is really modern, clean and luxurious, not like the ones in typical Korean restaurants in Fort Lee. It offers very nice atmosphere and excellent service so you can bring the guests to give some good treats. But I think Gayeon is more for Americans, not for Koreans. The seasoning of food is a little mediocre, not spicy at all,and it seems to set for American taste. And it is pricey compared to the other Korean restaurants.

This place looks fancy and elegant, and I assumed it is pricy. But then, I saw they have lunch menu at more affordable prices. So, we decided to try them out one weekend. We started off with Lychee-Beach Cocktail and J-Tomboy Cocktail. They were nice and strong, good flavor, well made. They had a nice lunch menu, But the funny thing was, when we put in our order, we were told they didn’t have the items we wanted to order. The server told us that they no longer offer those items, but they haven’t updated their menu yet… Seriously? We had to quickly look for something else to order, and I chose Seoul Bulgogi + Today’s Soup. It was very different from what I imagined. It didn’t have as much flavor as I wanted it to be, but a nice, filling dish. My hubby chose Galbi + Dwenjang Jjigae. I must say, I was jealous of this dish. I love having marinated beef or pork, wrapped in lettuce with some seasoning. It was really good, packed with flavor, and delicious! We also got some desserts; Matcha Brownie and Snickers Bar. Brownie was very small and kind of dry. Snickers Bar is like a deconstructed Snickers Bar, and seems to be one of the most popular dessert items. It was indeed interesting, and a fun dessert to eat. The service was ok, polite and nice, but not as friendly. Towards the end, a manager (?) came around to each table to greet everyone. It is always good to know our business is appreciated. The lunch items were good, but still a bit on the pricey side.

Everything was good at this place, even the kimchee (not big on kimchee). Hospitality was great! Bulgogi was so tender and good. Mandoo and chicken was great! Staff was wonderful . Shout out to our server Yeun. Can't wait to return

I have been there so many times. In the Holiday season, we faced a lack of serice. But there is no doubt about taste.

The key point of Korean BBQ is how to cook the meat. I had dinner at this restaurant on Dec.31 with my family. I understood that that there was not enough staff to serve guests since it was 12/31, however considering this fact, the services were sucks! The way they cook the meat at the table was just cook fast so that they can serve other tables... Half of the meat were burnt and the last half of the meat were not cooked, Horrble! Horrible! They ruined the dinner and the good meat. I would not go there again. DO NOT GO THIS RESTAURANT

We tried out the restaurant for our anniversary. We just loved it. The food was delicious but the best part was how everyone was very attentive. The hostess, Alexa, was the best. She gave us suggestions and answered our questions. The waitress was great. This was the first time eating Korean, the restaurant itself is very lovely and very romantic. We did the prefixe dinner, we wanted to try out the different food. It is a bit pricey but for a special occasion it was just right.

Brand new, this chic great vibe Korean restaurant will cater to a different clientele. Cathedral ceilings, open kitchen, terrific looking bar, and an exceptional waitstaff. Not your wood coals to cook meat, but rather gas fired. Comfortable chairs and the tables are not crowded. We ordered a deep fried mushroom appetizer with a cinnamon honey sauce that certainly was different and tasty. We had BBQ of short ribs and prime steak that was enjoyed by all. I tried monkfish in a spicy hot pot. It had 3 clams, a shrimp, and what they called sea urchins. To my knowledge, sea urchins are white or black. These were tiny and strange and after I bit into it thinking it was soft, I thought I would break a tooth. I asked about it and was told it was something like a sea urchin and you are supposed to avoid the hard part and bite and suck the juice out of the attached soft part. Weird. I should have been explained all about that before attempting to bite into it and possibly breaking a tooth.

Went to this restaurant because it was new and beautiful. The atmosphere was great but that was about it. The food was not very good and service was even worse. But I was even more surprised when I got the bill. Not worth the money and will not return. Please stay away!!!

When we visited Gayeon in June for the first time, the place was still in Grand Opening stage. We understood a few mishaps of the service, taste of the food lacking the final touch, etc. Two more visits to Gayeon led me to believe Gayeon, whilst the management trying to offer an upscale Korean cuisine to the local community, still lacks the services that customers demand in such pricy restaurants, especially compared with the surrounding Korean competitions. I find the facility modern and trendy but it lacks a degree of privacy. Although there are private rooms in the mezzanine, there is only one large dining area, where I can see pretty much every customer and I feel like it is an expensive diner rather than an upscale restaurant. Worst part of my 3 visits were with the receptionist/host/hostess. They all have attitude problems. The money I spent there was not worth it.

We had the Seafood Dolsot Bibimbap, Black Cod Gui, and a seafood Tang. (can't remember what it's called) Only the Cod Gui was super delicious, so smooth, and melts in your mouth. HEAVEN!! The bibimbap and tang was just so-so. (and the soup had some weird fish innards… which we were not expecting :O). They serve individual banchan for each person. Overall pretty good. FYI: Parking is free in the parking lot if under 90 mins.

From the owners of New York City's Gaonnuri, a beautiful restaurant has opened in Fort Lee, NJ! We came to celebrate a milestone birthday and this was the perfect place to hold it. We had a party of 10 people so we had a large table in the back area. There are portions of the restaurant that can be sectioned off for private dining. The room we were in featured a cool animation that was projected onto the large wall space that was constantly moving. Our group opted for the prix fixe meal where each individual could choose an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The portions were filling - surprising for such a fancy restaurant, where we would expect the plates to be disappointingly small. But not here! The appetizers almost seemed as large and filling as the entrees. Everyone's plates came out in such an artistic manner we all enjoyed the sight of our food. The entrees came with a set of side dishes (in Korean, banchan) for each individual. It was a set of four side dishes and they were a great and familiar accompaniment. The menu also has a chef's choice menu. Both the chef's choice and the prix fixe is for a maximum of 6 or 8 people. They made an exception for our group because we were not aware and were there to celebrate a birthday. Parking is easiest in the garage within the building that the restaurant is found. The first 90 minutes is free so keep an eye on the clock!

After a long day we decided to eat local. Gaylon is a well appointed cool place. The atmosphere is very hip. After waiting 10 minutes for our drinks we were impatient and decided to order the meals. Appetizers were the octopus, tofu and Haemul Pajun(seafood pancake). The octopus was not quite grilled as much as I would like, but the pancakes were excellent! For entrees we barbecued the ribeye and chicken. This was served with rice. Both were tender and not overly salty or seasoned. The service was poor from the bar, but our waitress was very good.

We went with my 5 month old daughter and 5 adults to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday. Food was a bit expensive but beautifully presented and delicious! Service was outstanding! We had the prawns, abalone, meat combos 1 and 2. The smoke did not bother us since their grill is specially designed to suck the fumes downward. Everyone was so nice! They even gave us a complimentary dessert for my mom! Highly recommended.
