My husband was craving some soup tonight. They offer a 6% discount for using cash. They don’t accept Amex, rather annoying to be told after the fact. Not a fan of supporting small businesses it seems. This place has a build-your-own Soondubu soup offering, how cool is that. This is where you go for some soft tofu soup, it’s really busy and packed inside. We were able to get a seat luckily. We were able to get the last parking spot in the small lot for the restaurant. It’s all about tofu soup here. No spicy tteokbokki here though. We ordered two kimchi tofu soups with added sliced rice cakes for an add-on fee and with the meat broth, but no beef meat in it. Our waitress first told us no rice cake adds, but I asked her to add it for a fee. She agreed, although no mention of what the cost to add it would be at all. $31.88 The banchans: kimchi, broccoli, cucumber, bean sprouts. All are really fresh and nicely seasoned and cooked too. The rice is sticky and perfectly cooked. As a Korean you must always take one spoonful of rice before you start your meal. The male waiter that didn’t take our orders dropped off our soups and assumed I wanted the extra spicy hot tofu soup, it was for my husband. We swapped since his extra spicy is significantly more red and has much more red chili in it. We had a lot of different people waiting on us all day, no one was consistent except for the bus boy. We received more banchans and tea from the bus staff, as always our service is always better from the bus boys than our wait staff. Our waitress and the male waiters were not the warmest folks to us at all. Our waitress told me that the bill was for her to keep. I asked her for a copy then. She took the bill and ended up giving me the copy of the bill she took away in the end, because she couldn’t get me another copy at all. The kimchi tofu comes with small eggs to crack into your soup. The kimchi tofu soup has really good heat and flavor to it, for the price, it’s a smaller portion than what we get at our favorite Korean restaurant back at home. The meat broth is quite good. The add-on rice cake gives you 5 slices total. The tofu soups are worth a try as are their banchans, just come expecting less than a warm reception and service. The food flavor and taste was a solid 4. Service minus the bus boy was a 2 at best. The portions for the tofu soup are small here for the price, that’s also a 2.

I always enjoy visiting So Kong Dong, the food consistently very good, service fast. The car park is a little small for peak times, but there are other car parks very close by, and they will validate your parking cost to a point. The staple for me is the spicy tofu soup, but it looks like they have been expanding their menu a little too — BBQ ribs and dumplings available. The spice level here I find fairly high, so I can enjoy either the mild or medium, but there are two more levels higher if you really like your soup spicy hot.

Reportedly an authentic Korean restaurant and one of the oldest in Ft. Lee. Very limited menu as it was a Tofu restaurant which also only served various soups and Korean ribs. They serve a variety of small plate appetizers on the house which included kimchi, salad, noodles & cucumbers. Tofu soups are with beef, pork, seafood kimchi, dumplings etc are served in various degrees of spiciness. Everything was good, very rushed service as there is always a waiting line, small parking lot but nearby parking available. Reasonable prices.

Fort Lee is now full to the brim with Korean restaurants. So Kong Dong is one of the original ones, and is still worth a visit to taste what traditional Korean food is like, and also to see what a traditional Korean teahouse/restaurant looks like. The implication here is that by contemporary standards, So Kong Dong is showing its age and has none of the fancy new features like an in-table grill or a buffet. Its clientele is middle-aged folks or seniors like us, rather than the go-go crowd of other Korean places in Fort Lee. Here, one can relax - but you gotta be good with the chopsticks. Table service only, prices moderate.

Staff-waiters-waitresses: needs to work on making customers feel welcomed, not to treat customers as “ugh, here are more customers!!” Besides this issue, food was decent.

It's a typical Korean tofu soup place. Food was good. Inexpensive. But we ordered ahead over the phone because we were in a hurry, and they knew who we were and got us seated right away. it's very nice to have it's own parking lot in Fort Lee. Very convenient.

We crossed the GW bridge from Manhattan because of the previous reviews. I was not impressed with this Korean restaurant at all. The inside was roomy. The service want that great in our experience. The waitress seemed to rush us to order the food when we were not ready yet. They seemed not too happy to be there and serving us. The menu was limited and the food was OK. I would not recommend this place.

I had oyster tofu pot and bbq ribs (beef). They served unlimited small dishes for free (kimchi, bean sprouts etc.)The seasoning in the ribs was fantastic! Lots of oysters in my tofu pot. Reasonable price and excellent service. Parking lot in the front and street parking too. I will def come back for more!

We stopped in for a quick lunch at So Kong Dong on our way to New England. It is very close to the GW Bridge. It has its own parking area just outside which is very convenient. It is definitely lacking a bit in cleanliness as well as courteous servers- but it does have a reputation for excellent soft tofu soup, so we have it a try. The food comes out almost immediately in bowls that are heated to boiling. The soup is served in varying heat levels- our group ran the gamut from mild to hot. I was the oddball and went with Bibimbap. The food was fine- the soup that was requested hot was almost inedibly hot. Medium seems to be the wiser choice. The grilled short ribs were very much the favorite. It is an authentic spot- but they definitely need to work a bit on the friendliness factor. If you are craving some Korean soup and are in Fort Lee, make a stop- but I would t go too far out of the way.

This place is amazing. I will drive an hour to go to this place. Kimchi beef sundubu here is out of this world! Their kalbi is so tender and juicy, falls off the bone. And TRY THE DUMPLINGS deep fried, you wont be sorry! Recommend this place to everyone, its seriously amazing.

Go for the soft tofu soup or dumplings. Many kinds of soup to choose from.Mine was dumpling and beef and it was delicious.Spiciness is adjusted according to your taste. The service was very good.I read a revue which talked about staff rudeness. Our experience was the opposite.

This is for young people or those ones love having lots of rice for meal. The tofu pot has tasty soup but not a lot of substance there, whether it is meat or seafood. Everyone come here know that is for a fast treat, as you will be rushed a bit by the wait staff. The soup is really tasty but it is pretty much just the soup and rice.

I can't speak to the authenticity of So Kong Dong (I call it "Tofu House"), but am very glad that we found it! Seemingly flooded with Korean restaurants at every turn, we had no idea, which ones are the truly good ones. Friends introduced us to this place that we would have otherwise never noticed tucked away at the end of Main Street. It has been very consistent every time we have gone (about a dozen now); our 2-year-old and 10-year-old both love it! And what's not to love? The menu is simple, which is usually indicative of a restaurant that knows its specialty and sticks to it. Get the Tofu soup; we are vegetarians so we stick with the Mushroom, but it is delicious. Tofu is appropriately named silken and the broth is delicious. The appetizers they bring at the beginning of the meal, accompanied with rice, are fantastic - the bean sprout salad is simple and perfect. Spicy-food lovers will have found a haven in the appetizers as well as they are coated in red fiery spices (they give you a bowl of 'vinegary soup' and I use that to dilute some of the spice in the kimchee and pickled cucumbers). There is another Tofu House in a shopping mall around the corner. Don't bother with it. While it has "fancier" decor (a lovely wall of spindled Korean hot clay pots) and a children's playing area (germ-fest), their service was terribly slower than here. In addition, all of the various foods we sampled (not just the tofu soup) were blander and seemed rushed. Here, the casual, wood-table decor and otherwise lackadaisical service are not so much a negative, but just their flavor. It's not fine dining, it's delicious tofu soup!

This place is super rude. We had not finished our dinner and were asked to leave the restaurant to free up the table for some waiting guests. When we pointed out that this was a very rude request, they just laughed at us and did not even apologize. Fort Lee has many great restaurants that are as good or better than this place. We will certainly not go back.
