Best Post-Covid Restaurant Meal

On a recent trip to Yellowstone Park, we stopped and stayed in Livingston, Montana on the way home. The owner of the Livingston Inn where we were staying recommended this restaurant for dinner. Since Covid we have seen restaurants with poor service (lack of staff), poor food (supply change issues) and higher prices. Los Pinos is an exception to this rule. We ordered the Brisket Tacos special off the daily special board and the Governador Tacos off the menu. Both were amazing. Fresh ingredients, superb flavors and generous portions. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive. The bill came and I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonably priced really excellent restaurant food can still be. This local favourite will soon be swamped when the summer tourist season hits so I was glad we were able to find this gem when we did.

Wonderful Tamales

Los Pinos is in the same building as a Thai restaurant, a bar, and a casino. Don’t be put off by typical casino noise. We never saw or heard the casino. You can take your family to this pleasant restaurant. The tamales were excellent. There is one chicken and one with pork on the platter with beans and rice. The green sauce is somewhat hot, but very flavorful at the same time. The combined flavors of the seasoning in the tamales and the sauce is truly special. The beans and rice were bland.

Get the Tortilla Soup! 😋

Great staff, conscientious service, and chicken tortilla soup that warms you from the inside out. The fare is traditional, with some Tex-Mex specialities on the menu too. The molcajete looked wonderful. Reasonable prices.

Late night dinner

We picked the Los Pinos after a long day of traveling because it was close to our motel. The owners are from Mexico so I guess they know what they are doing. The chile rellenos were very good and the green chile stew had the perfect spice. We are from Texas and are particular about Mexican food in other states since we are used to really good TexMex, New Mexican and northern Mexico style food. Would come back for another meal if in the area.

Best Mexican Food!

The absolute best Mexican food I have had in all of Montana. Moved up here from the southwest area 15 years ago and have longed for authentic food like this. Additionally, great service and Christian is top notch!

Awesome place for great Mexican food!! Service and prices are great and fair. Location is nice. The el pastor special was phenomenal and the molcajete was amazing; and the leftovers will be also! Good kids options and comes out quick. Chips and salsa are good and you also get a verde avocado sauce as well, unique. I’d eat here again for sure!

Ate here with family on an overnight stop. It was close to the RV park, it is in a three way building, Mexican Restaurant, Tia Restaurant and Casino bar. Service was good and food was out quickly. Average Mexican plates.

A Mexican Runs Through It.

We had all traveled all day and were exhausted so looking for something quick. We hit the jackpot with Los Pinos! All five of lobed our meals and agreed that it was some of the best Mexican we had ever had. From the Rollitos app to all of the entrees, we alll left full and happy.

Shrimp tacos for sure.

What a great dinner and very affordable. Too bad about Montana's beer/wine licenses and how hard they are to get. After a long day, a beer with our tacos would have been most welcome. Every gas station sells beer so we wondered why the licenses for the restaurants are so hard to get. Los Pinos was right across the street from our terrible, awful no good hotel, the Yellowstone Park Inn and Suites..............dinner saved the day. Staff was very nice and on top of it!

Mexican in the Wild West

Okay I was a little surprised to find this gem in Livingston. I was even more surprised at their Chicken Tinga (best ever). The prices were great and so was the service and the queso dip was the bomb! I was really surprised.

Great convenient place to eat.

This place was next to our hotel. They were very accommodating to our large group. Staff and the service were great. Food was good, with great flavor. The place including the restrooms were clean. There was plenty of free safe parking.

Best Mexican food outside of Mexico

I didn't know that I had to come to Montana to find the most delicious Mexican food, but here we are! I ordered the serrano chicken soup, chicken chile rellenos and the sopapillas. The soup was so spicy and flavorful- forget Yellowstone, I need to come back here for this soup! The Chile Rellenos were delicious, but perhaps most startling was how good the rice and beans were. At many restaurants they're an afterthought, but here they were soft and full of flavor. Everything was spiced really well and you can tell the chef knows what they are doing. The Sopapillas I had a little trouble with- my prefered way of eating them is with a caramel or honey sauce and these were served with chocolate. Nothing wrong with that, just not what I was expecting. That said, the tortillas themselves were puffed beautifully and easily the best I've ever had. I'm not a paid spokesman- just traveling through on business and stopped here on a whim. I am SO glad I did.

Quiet hidden true gem of Tex-mec foods. Authentic, home made, salsas, fortissimo, quezon, tamsliz, carni sauda. mole etc…..so good!!

Just ate there tonight. I had the Texas Fajitas and hubby had the Steak Tacos. They were both delicious. Well worth the money. If we were staying longer we would go back.
