Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have been staying in the area for three months and this was our fourth trip to Neptunes, coming from Bozeman. Until this experience we were quite satisfied with the food and service. However, this trip was a disaster. We waited over fifteen minutes for...water service and an hour before our food was served. The reason given was that they had a large to go order. But they never bothered to tell us that until we went looking for our food . We did not eat our food, paid the bill and left. Ten minutes later we returned because I had forgotten my favorite hat. Our table had not been bused yet and my hat was gone. We spoke with the wait staff who said that they never saw it and it was probably stolen. That was probably a correct assessment. The hat was stolen but by whom?More

We live in Bozeman and put our name on the waitlist as we left and headed over the pass(where there is no phone reception) and looked forward to a wonderful meal that we knew in advance having eaten here several times before. When we arrived...the staff informed us that they had given away our table because we didn’t answer their texts to us if we were still coming. We were both surprised how rude and uncaring the staff reacted to us when we showed our disappointment at the situation. They stuck us at a table in their outside dining area which was quite empty considering it was chilly and windy. I made a comment to the waitress that We didn’t appreciate the way we were being treated in such a freaky way. The waitress thought I was calling her a freak and got very ugly. After all of this we decided to leave. It was clearly not a good situation from beginning to end! Just ridiculous! Won’t be going back!More

What a pleasant surprise! Traveling with family from Yellowstone to Billings and stopped in this adorable town for shopping and lunch. I was a little skeptical but it looked fun and we were not disappointed. The food is fresh, tasty the service fantastic. But…. The...tropical Craft cocktails were over the top the best Mai Tai, Pain killer, Daiquiris this group has ever had. No premade mixes here! The shrimp tacos and fish and chips were perfect not to mention the guacamole! Highly recommendMore

There are not a lot of dining options in Livingston on Sunday eve. Neptunes is very busy late June - possibly tourists. We expected the slow service but did not expect such bad food. The Bigger Boat Taco Plate was chosen and a side salad...to substitute for fries. The “so-called wild caught cod” and “seahorse sauce” had a putrid taste. I could not identify what I was eating. As there were three tacos I tried each one looking for a bite worth eating. It got worse. The dish was “creative, to say the least”, in calling it tacos. The taco shells looked identifiable but were left behind with all of the rest of inedible food! No more Neptunes for us!More

Stopped in for a drink (or 2) before going to a movie. Nice selection of draft beers and mixed cocktails. Friendly bartender. Met some nice people from town. I had the Golden Nymph and the wife had a Pain Killer. Nice atmosphere.

Many of the sushi offerings here are considerably different than what you usually see at a sushi restaurant. The Ahi Poke Tower appetizer was admittedly average. Their rolls were a completely different story. The Moby's revenge was one of the best sushi rolls I've ever...had. It was a tremendous combination of fish and flavors. Followed that up by splitting an Absaroka Sunrise with my wife. She's not a big fan of spicy, but loved the sweet Chile sauce on that one. Service was excellent and quick. Had one of their house beers, the Scotch Ale, which was very hoppy. Seemed like an IPA inspired Scotch Ale which just wasn't a good flavor.More

Way overpriced, slow service, fish and chips were soggy. Must be a tourist only place, as I don't see anyone coming back after eating here.

This place tries a little too hard to be fancy. For example, they offered several sauces to go with their French fries. Asking for ketchup seemed like an unusual request. The prices are a bit high for what you get

We were pleasantly surprised to find a wonderful seafood-oriented restaurant in Livingston. There are extensive seafood menu offerings including a great deal of sushi. There are also many vegan and vegetarian options. You can always have meat and chicken as well. We would definitely return...here.More

My partner and I visited this restaurant on a whim after a long day of exploring Yellowstone. I can report it was, without a doubt, a truly perfect dining experience. We called 45 minutes ahead (a must), and were seated promptly after arriving. The atmosphere...is gorgeous — upbeat, welcoming, and polished. We could have easily been located on an upscale beachfront. Our server was prompt, friendly, and professional. We received our appetizers within 10 minutes of ordering and our meals within the 10 minutes after. I was especially grateful to note the glasses and utensils were clear and free of water spots. The food itself was incredible — the very best rice bowl and miso soup I have ever had. This is truly a must visit.More

I know the service industry is hurting but we put our names on a list at 630pm and didn’t leave the restaurant until 10pm. They don’t take reservations. We had six including a baby and pregnant woman and we waited and 45 min over what...they had told us (total of 1.5 hours) for a table and then once we finally got a table we waited over an hour for food. Our waitress was super nice and we liked her and the food was great but it took 3 and a half hours to have dinner!! That’s silly. We’re all locals ie bobcats, work at the hospital, work in the area and none of us have the time to go back. If you have hours to spare then definitely go. I don’t write reviews but I did for this because I hope they get it together. we have friend who this happened to also…hoped it was fluke..guess not. :(….3 and a half hours for dinner… then stop taking names or something earlier. Poor review even if the food was good.More

We found Neptune's to be a refreshing change from the other eateries in Livingston. Fun decor and lots of laughter make a light hearted meal. The mussels were tasty, accompanied by an extensive sake menu!

What a great surprise to find in Livingston MT. Stopped for Father’s Day lunch, of course everyone had the same idea, we look up different restaurants and decided to try a new place. We tried the American Japanese Maki rolls with hot pot tea and...my friend had battered cod and chips. Both fresh served quickly by friendly wait staff. I would come and eat here again.More

This place was amazing at handling my food allergies! The waitress was incredibly knowledgeable, and when the cooks had a concern the manager came ot and helped me find an acceptable alternative. They have gluten free, soy free, egg free, nut free... if you have...food allergies, they can and gladly will work with you. The food was outstanding, the environment was cheerful and the staff was topnotch!More
