Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We dined here with our children and thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the cool ambiance of Montana Ale Works. Great location downtown and excellent service.

First time trying this restaurant and I have to say I was not impressed with the food. I had the fried chicken sandwich and opted for the Nashville Hot version. The sandwich had more bread than chicken and the chicken was just slightly bigger than...a chicken strip. The Nashville Hot sauce was nothing like what real Nashville Hot is and wasn't even the least bit hot. Chick-fil-A has a better chicken sandwich than this place. The beer was pretty good and the atmosphere was nice and those are why I rated it a 3 and not a 2. Unless you're just looking for a good beer variety, my recommendation is to pass on this place.More

We had been traveling between Glacier National Park and Yellowstone and we wanted to stop at restaurant for a good meal. We were very lucky to stop here as it was great! The restaurant is quite large and it was very busy, but we were...able to be seated quickly, which is great. Our service was very good throughout our meal and we ordered a spiked lemonade and a variety of tasters, all of which were very good. The food was even better and my wife loved her bison steak while I really enjoyed by fish tacos as well. This is elevated pub fare and that is a great thing for a road trip. We would definitely come back here!More

Last weekend we were in Bozeman for a High School Wrestling Tournament. When we are lucky enough to be in Bozeman we always eat at Montana Ale Works. We ordered our dinner take out for 4 online Friday evening. The site said our entrees would...be ready for pickup in 15 minutes. We hurried to pick up our dinner in between wrestling matches. When we arrived to pick up our order we were informed that the estimate for our dinner's completion was not correct. We waited 45 minutes, missing our son's match. When we received our delayed order, we raced back to the tournament to catch his last match. Later when we opened our To Go sack, there was no silverware, no napkins, no ketchup, and no aioli ( even though we had requested extra) for our parmesan fries. Our overall take out experience was a let down.More

Very busy at 5pm, but waited 10 minutes for a table and had great service. Large selection of drinks, food at every price point, and everything was delicious. Large space. Would definitely eat here again. Recommend the bison steak and elk burger.

First time in Montana. Here on a vacation driving to yellowstone and family picked tis place. Really like eating something from the area and wanted rainbow trout. It was only on the menu as an add on to a meal??? Why have it on there...at all. So went with the elk burger. Waitress said all burgers are served medium usually. I clearly stated that I wanted mine very well done. Got it and it was medium. If you can not follow simple instructions then you failed miserably. On the good side fries were good, beer selection was decent, and waitress was nice. The outside of the elk burger that was actually cooked was good as well, but I am still hungry after tossing half of it.More

We came here for my husband's birthday dinner. It was very tasty. We got the elk Burger and the fried chicken sandwich and enjoyed both. The French fries here were very good. Our waiter, Preston , was a little bit slow, but he was nice....And I think they were just really busy that evening. We also got some apple cider on draft that was really good. They did offer a free dessert for the birthday. But then charged for it, and we had to get it taken off.More

Lively atmosphere, usual and unusual choices including elk and bison. There is something here for everyone! We had bison potstickers and pontine as appetizers - both were so good we ordered another pontine. Main meals were burgers, salads, sandwiches, wings-- all were good. MAW offers...a variety of wines, ales and drinks, we had a good time! We were happy with the prices. Parking lot available.More

Stayed in Bozeman for two nights on a girls' trip. We ate here the first night, and we liked it so much that we came back again the next night. This is a HUGE restaurant with a fun atmosphere, great service, and excellent food! If...you'd like to try bison while you're in the area, I recommend the bison potstickers for a fun twist. I also enjoyed the Gallatin Valley Salad with trout. Great beer selection, too!More

The salad I had was all gluten-free ingredients. They also seemed like the sort of establishment that would be happy to meet those needs if you requested it.
