About
Schlafly redefined beer by creating the craft movement in St. Louis in 1991. From day one, our founders challenged the status quo with a diverse collection of flavorful styles brewed in small batches with traditional recipes and methods. For years beer lovers have relaxed in our classic pubs with a pint and a bite to eat. Today Schlafly Beer continues to celebrate our legacy of authentic high-quality brews and hospitality at the historic Schlafly Taproom! We take our position as the first new brewery to open in STL since Prohibition very seriously. The Taproom has been and always will be a community brewpub for friends and neighbors to gather & enjoy a pint. While the majority of our brewery operation has moved to our Bottleworks location the Taproom still brews a very select 2,000 barrels per year. Our Wood Aged series is brewed exclusively at this facility as well as our brewmaster’s most-favored batches from inception to limited-edition bottling.

Great place for lunch or dinner. Excellent food and good selection of craft beer. Bartender was very friendly and also offered tastes of a variety that we wanted to try. Schnitzel was huge and tasty.

My husband, son and I rode our scooters here from Hyatt Downtown. I’m glad we did. We shared fried and the prime run sandwich. Well, I’d like to say we shared the sammich, but my son devoured it. He LOvED it. The shoestring fries were perfectly cooked and salted. The beers were good too! We tried the Just A Bit Hazy. I’d like to have it again. There are two sides to this taproom, one mostly dining tables and the other a more traditional bar area. Service was good

A great Austrian/German themed place backed up by authentic food. Quiet the evening we went, it’s like a giant Germanic beer hall. Had a brilliant beer flight (Kölsch, Dortmunder, Kellerpils, Oatmeal Stout, Apricot Sour Oak) to accompany fantastic prime ribs and a great pork version of a schnitzel. The guy knew his stuff too. This is so much more than a brewpub and for us it made a great change from the usual American fare

We came for lunch here on a whim after the St. Louis Cardinals game was canceled. We were extremely impressed overall by the quality of food, and naturally wonderful Schlafly beer selection. The server could have been a bit more attentive, though she was extremely friendly (I blame her having too many tables versus her forgetting about us). Also, oddly enough for a St. Louis restaurant, the water tasted horrible. I've never had this problem in STL before, where our water is among the top in the country. Again though, the food was really incredible, including the fries, falafel and burger (I'd recommend the brioche bun for the burger). We will DEFINITELY come back.

So the food was generous portions. Bacon jam not good but the blue cheese cream was tasty. Saw no kids menu was told verbally the kids menu…3 large chicken tender with fries more than enough. Service was down right terrible. Shelly B acted like she wanted to be any where but there. Never seen a smile on her face and asking for thing was made feel like an inconvenience. Came and checked on once and disappeared and only had like 5 tables. This is place to drink a few beers and expect bad service.

I feel bad I can't remember our bartender's name, big guy who was very friendly. He also had a sweet playlist going. I made my way back Friday to pick up some of the Raspberry Hef. It is delicious. A couple sat beside me and they ordered a desert, I think it might of been bread pudding it was huge and looked amazing. Can't wait to go back when in St. Louis again.

This little gem was within walking distance from our hotel, so we walked over for lunch on a Sunday. The staff was so nice, the poutine and beer cheese soup was pleasantly provel-free and very good. We also ordered a flight of beers. Our favorites were the cider and the lemon-lime. It was interesting to talk about the history as well.

We visited on the evening of September 18 during a 1 night stay in St. Louis. We came planning to eat outside but after seeing the indoor set-up we decided to be seated inside. We felt completely comfortable with their safety protocols. Service and food were excellent. Highly recommend the salmon salad. Every beer in my flight was delicious. Nice job Schlafly!

We took a family trip to St Louis in December and tried a lot of different foods and types of restaurants while there. Schlafly’s was at the top of the list, everything was absolutely delicious! Especially the bread pudding! But the real winner here was the Apple Pie Cider on draft! Best cider I have EVER had in my life. We even got some cans to go. I’m now dreaming about another trip to St. Louis just to visit Schlafly’s again!

Large venue with 2 big rooms and a bar in a historic brick building in the Downtown West neighborhood. Huge choice of drinks; focused on beer. Had choices of about 8 appetizers (we went with the toasted pita, garlic hummus, olive tapenade, beer cheese spread; nicely done), Several soups, salads (I had a beet salad; top notch), sandwiches, entrees, and a couple desserts. Beyond what you'd expect from a brewpub in that they have the "standbys" but also things like mahi mahi tacos, jagerschnitzel, falafel sandwich, and grilled salmon salad. Reasonably priced; often crowded!

We ate here for lunch with three adults and three kids. They were very friendly and helpful. Though there is not an official kids menu on the menu, they have kids menu options like chicken tenders, etc.

We stopped in to try beers, when we first arrived we sat at the bar area it took us forever to have our waitress take our order. By the time we ordered and actually got 4 beers it was 30 min. We noticed that it appeared our waitress was the only server in the entire restaurant! We left after 1 beer.

I’ve been to a fair amount of breweries in a fair amount of places so I feel like this biases my review. If you’ve never been to a microbrew pub before, I’m sure this one will be good. However in the comparative world of microbrew pubs, this is a non-remarkable experience. We went for a lunch and afternoon drinks and found the place quite literally empty. Good news, right? Service will be quick! Ehhh, not so much. Pretty slow service, HIGHLY limited food menu. Plenty of good tasty beer though so if it’s a beer experience you are after go for it. If a varied option menu is your goal, pass! Pictured is the “bottleworks” burger. Pretty good. No complaints about that, just a little unremarkable.

Just sat having had the Flight of Beers which convinced me to go with the raspberry Hefeweizen beer. Delicious. Then chose food fish sandwich off the menu tomato bisque and Caesar salad. It was excellent and Also saw other food coming out which looked just as good. This place is gr8 to visit for excellent beer and gr8 food. Not expensive but high in quality. Will come back.
