We had a family birthday to celebrate with a group of 10. Reservation was made weeks prior. At arrival time our table was ready and set up wonderfully to accommodate conversation. The food was delicious! Best arancini ever and hadn’t eaten toasted raviolis in years. I got one of the last lasagnas of the night. Cannot even describe how delicious! The portions were so big; food was piping hot; best food ever!

We recently attended a Birthday celebration at this restaurant for my son in law. Zia’s is definitely one of the hidden gems in St.Louis. The Gamberetti was absolutely delicious and the portions are very generous for the cost. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant very soon.

An inviting, classic Italian diner with a wonderful atmosphere, an extensive menu, delicious food and reasonable prices. A few small hiccups in service, but we were dining at a very busy time. This kind of place needs to survive to stop the spread of chain restaurants serving mediocre "Italian food".

Maybe 2 1/2 stars if the prices weren't so high. Eggplant parmigiana was so bad! Chicken spiedini was an overcooked chicken breast cut into 4 pieces and covered in lemon sauce with mushrooms. The lemon sauce isn't bad. THIS IS NOT SPIEDINI !! I make Spiedini. It's delicious and takes time to make. At $15++ an order, you'd think they would take a little time. NOPE! Lastly, an "Italian" restaurant that puts St. Louis's most favorite fake processed cheese (Provel) all over everything they make, is NOT an Italian restaurant. Lots of people love this cheese. I am not one of those fake food eaters. At $6 a plate, I'd give it 3 stars, at $15 a plate, a solid 2. Enjoy!

We called ahead because they would not take a same day reservation and asked how long they estimated we would wait and they said 10-30 minutes. We arrived and they said the wait was an hour. We asked if we could sit in the bar area and get appetizers and they said yes. There were several empty tables but none were bused. We sat down and I removed the dirty glasses and napkins myself. The restaurant smelled like day old dirt and grime at 7 pm. We waited about ten minutes and no one waited on us. We asked the hostess if we could order because the kids were hungry and she directed us to the bar. At the bar the bartender ignored us so we got a server’s attention and asked to order. The server got the bartenders attention and he said “tell them we will get to them when we can.” For the next few minutes the bartender cleaned and dried glasses. We got up to leave and the hostess didn’t apologize, just asked our name so she could cross us off the list. We do not recommend this place.

We arrived just before 3 and were given lunch menus. About 7 minutes later someone came up and asked to switch our menus. Didn’t think much of it except that it was an odd request. Come to find they were switched to the dinner menu and which is more expensive…all of our salads had bad lettuce in spots and way too much dressing which made the salad soggy. It was obviously not fresh made. My husband and I ordered 2 different chicken dishes yet the meals looked exactly the same with the addition of broccoli to his. The menu does not read that they are the same. Meal was over peppered. You could see the pepper all over. It became inedible. The pasta with butter garlic sauce had a ridiculous amount of garlic. Each noodle had so much minced garlic in it that this too was inedible. It too had so much pepper. Don’t waste your money here.

Zia"s has always been my favorite Italian restaurant, no longer. Service on this last visit was better than the previous, but the food was not up to par. Ordered the Garlic Cheese bread appetizer which we love. When delivered to our table the cheese was just barely melted. When the entrees were brought to the table, my wife's Beef Mudega was medium rare, not medium as ordered. Sent it back and when returned, was still rare. Waitress, Kayla, was very good. Looks like our last visit to Zia's!

We came here on recommendation of our AirB&B host, and were very pleased. We ordered a large salad (fresh veggies not from a bagged mix, nice cheese, dressing that added to but didn't overwhelm the salad), ravioli stuffed with portobello (very tasty), and baked spaghetti w. meat sauce (hearty and tasty, obviously not an adventurous choice). Portions were good, and the price reasonable. This appears to be a nice neighborhood establishment in The Hill section of St. Louis -- photos on the wall go back to at least 1933. Thanks!

Fantastic Italian! Everyone loved their dishes. It's on the more expensive side ($100 for 4 pops, 4 entrees, and an app) but there was so much food. Bread is complementary, but it would have been nice if it was served with an herb olive oil. Most entrees come with a salad (quite sizeable) and side dish of pasta. If we lived in the area, we'd be back!

This place is very popular with the locals but if you are looking for true Italian food you won't find it here. The fried ravioli (local specialty) is overrated and the dinner salad w/ the local special cheese was more cheese than salad, and the cheese had a very strong, overpowering flavor. The Tutto Mare was okay and the Penne Salsiccia was so-so. The tiramisu was good apparently.

This was the worst Italian food I have had outside of a college cafeteria. The veal parm was thick and tasteless, the side pasta was dry with a bland tomato sauce, and the salad was way overdressed (but was the best part of the meal). The seafood pasta dishes (others had at my table) were drowning in sauce, which tasted really “fishy”. The dining area was not at all appealing - tired and devoid of ambiance, with stock area photos falling out of the matting within their frames.

It had been several years since we visited Zia's, but our previous experiences had been positive so we decided to try them again. This time my wife & I ordered a variety of Italian entrees for ourselves and for her brother's family-of-three: house salads, toasted raviolis, mostoccioli w/ meat sauce, spaghetti w/ meatballs, canneloni, chicken parmigiana, and tortellino piselli. The in-laws were pleased with their entrees (flavor & quantities), but we had mixed feelings. The tortellini was excellent, and their red sauce was very tasty; but the chicken was overdone & stringy and the toasted ravs & salads were unremarkable. So our overall food experience (not considering our service, which was very friendly & accommodating) was maybe a 'High 3'. We would certainly recommend the tortellini & we'd order it again, but the rest was disappointing.

Love The Hill. Having grown up in Pueblo Colorado where you were either Italian, Hispanic or Polish. I came to love real Italian food and Zia’s just reminded me of that great cuisine. Wife and I enjoyed a perfect Calamari Appetizer! For dinner we each had something different and when the food was delivered, Hugh portions, had dinner the next night as well. Highly recommended!

Food was fantastic and the bartender was kind enough to ask the kitchen for a to go order even though they normally don’t do that on the weekends. There was a waitress dispute with what appeared to be the head bartender about a drink at the end of her shift. A little yelling back and forth and then the bartender said to the hostess, if she didn’t like it she could quit. Probably not their best moment but the food was delicious

This spot was recommended to us by an Uber driver, and on a whim we listened to her because my friends and I had heard of St. Louis' Italian neighborhood. Being from the Northeast we were skeptical of trying Midwestern Italian food. I have to say this place surprised me. It was definitely a little different than the Italian I am used to, but not any worse. The toasted ravioli (a St Louis staple) is the star of the show. Pollo Zia was also a hit. Waitress was quick to refill our bread basket. The atmosphere reminded me of those old school Italian joints that are hard to find in the Northeast nowadays. Glad to see that they are still alive in this part of the country.
