Visited with friends and our waiter could not have been nicer! He was prompt and engaging. The food was very reasonably priced and excellent. We all ended up ordering the grilled cheese and cup of the white bean chicken soup and so glad we did. We were so impressed with the quality and taste. I had only been there before for ice cream. Fountain was the prefect place to have lunch after visiting historical places in St. Louis as the building itself used to be a car show room in 1916.

We love popping in Fountain on Locust every chance we get for their dill pickle soup. Don't let the name fool you -- it's delicious! They also have great ice cream. Don't worry - even if you clean your plate and are full, they have the world's smallest hot fudge sundae that is the perfect dessert. They are located in a perfect spot to eat before or after going to the Fox Theater.

This is one of the coolest places I’ve been to! It is an old school fountain parlor with alcohol!! A martini with ice cream, yes please!! My husband had the black cherry Sundae. The ice cream was rich and flavorful. I was amazed with how they used ice cream to make my martini. I got the espresso martini. It was so well balanced and not sweet at all. The best part was that we came in during happy hour and my martini was $7. This place has amazing prices and delicious food! We can’t wait to come back and try more!!

Amazing ambiance, staff, and food. If you get anything here, get the ice cream brownie cake in a cup-it’s possibly the best thing I’ve ever tasted. The staff was kind, knowledgeable, and gave great service.

We came to The Fountain for a going-away lunch for a colleague and SO glad we did! Definitely need to make reservations because it gets busy, but the food is great, the menu offers something for everyone, and EVERYONE got ice cream after the meal! It made for a nice relaxed lunch and everyone kept saying how great the restaurant was afterward. One of my colleagues is already planning to go back with his family - his daughters are picky eaters and the kids menu has "some stuff my girls would actually eat at a reasonable price." I would highly recommend this to anyone.

The Fountain on Locust is a neat place! Servers are very kind and helpful. They have delicious soup and awesome ice cream! I would highly reccomend the Black Cadillac. Soup options change daily, but they always have a pickle soup. There was a white chili on special when we were there with corn bread and it was delicious!

After having dinner somewhere else we came here for dessert and I'm so glad we did. This place great! The decor is very nostalgic & dreamy feeling. The menu is so creative and tasty. The little loved the idea of creating her own sundae and the cocktails are divine. The staff was so welcoming, appreciative & made some great recommendations. We didn't have any food but if you ask me the main attraction here are the desserts and cocktails. So worth a visit.

Great lunch place with specialty martinis made with ice cream. Although we didn't try these, our lunch was amazing. We ordered the soup of the day which was gumbo and it did not disappoint. I had the salad special which was fresh and yummy. The only issue we had was that my husband's grilled cheese came out cold. We casually mentioned it to our server who immediately apologized and brought a new, hot sandwich out within a few minutes. The apple slices in the Royal Grill sandwich really made it special. For dessert, we ordered the Late-Night Delight to share which apparently was featured on Food Network at one time. My husband didn't think he'd like it because of the pineapple cake, but he was wrong! The different flavors all blended beautifully together A great experience!

Ordered the Saint Louis City salad and it was okay but no dressing. Their Dijon mustard vinaigrette was basically plain oil. No taste at all. Poor service from waitress was really made the experience horrible. Ordered the littlest sundae and the waitress left them sitting on the counter and by time she brought them over they were melted. Just really disappointing. However prior to this visit a different waitress did great and I had no problems.

We came here for drinks, dinner & dessert and enjoyed all of it. The place was very busy and therefore somewhat loud, but it's a fun environment. Their hummus was delicious as were the ice creams - try the mini cone flight to get a taste of 4 different flavors. We also had excellent salads. Drinks were good, not great.

Always enjoy a visit to The Fountain on Locust! 1920’s art deco themed decor serving phosphate sodas, egg creams, & ice cream specialty drinks. They offer a full bar but the atmosphere (at least during the during lunch when we’ve visited) is appropriate for all ages & welcoming to families. They have a wide section of sandwiches, as well as salads & entrees. They offer soup & and their dill pickle soup is a specialty. They also offer “adult” shakes & martinis & drinks with ice cream. Our son had the Toblerone martini for dessert & it did not disappoint! This visit for dessert we shared a “flight” of the “world’s smallest cone” which allowed us to each have a small single scoop serving of ice cream on a tiny sugar cone. Perfect finish to a delicious meal. Close (a short drive) to Forest Park & the Fox Theatre.

Was expecting better. Menu said their grilled cheese was ranked 1st in the state so I ordered it. It was mediocre at best. The ingredients would have been great but under cooked. Mushy bread and cheese that was not melted. Also, the soup I ordered with it was luke-warm and just not that enjoyable. Waitress was very friendly but a little clueless. When she asked how it was and my response was “just alright”, she didn’t bother asking what may have been wrong. I didn’t have time to comment more before she turned quickly around and left.

This restaurant takes great pride and wants its guests satisfied. My wife really enjoyed the pesto chicken and my son, a picky eater at times, loved his French roast beef melt. I ordered Grandma's penne and meatballs. There must have been a huge backup in the kitchen because they finished before mine came out and it was disappointingly cold -- but the staff immediately remade the tasty dish fresh and hot and made it complimentary which was very impressive. The ice cream was amazing. We were very pleased that they insisted on quality and customer satisfaction.

It had been a few years since my wife & I visited The Fountain, but we are happy to report that they still have the same high-quality food and ESPECIALLY premium ice cream desserts to satisfy all tastes. Our greeting & table servers were all welcoming and cordial. We each chose a Pick Two lunch (house-made chicken chili + a Fig & Ham & Gouda Grilled Cheese sandwich, Stutz Salad + Royal Grille cheese & Fuji apple slices sandwich), both dishes with flavorful ingredients and generous enough portions while still leaving room for one each of our favorite Cedar Crest brand ice cream treats (a Standing Banana Split with three ice cream flavors and an Ice Cream Float with black cherry soda & dark Zanzibar Chocolate ice cream). For quality & variety & portions & an array of flavors (shareables & mains & desserts ... and signature martinis if you are so inclined) - all in an attractive & quirky & lively indoor dining space - The Fountain on Locust can't be topped.
