Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Classic Kiwi pub done very well. Friendly helpful staff/witty publican, clean tidy old style rooms. Burgers are magic. Muesli in the self help kitchen tastes/looks homemade was very tasty. Carpark out back allows quick link to rooms.

Great service, squeezed us in when they were full. Drinks and meals arrived in a very timely manner. The blue cod was delicious as was the chips and salad.

Ordered the Blue Cod main meal and considered it to be as good a meal as I have ever ever enjoyed. Perfectly cooked..for me...and of a size suitable for a hungry man. Great value. Also purchased was the Lamb Shank meal.. again; a great meal....Desserts....Sticky Toffee Pudding was excellent..really. We would definitely eat here again.More

I stayed and dined there for one night while cycling the South Island. It was the accommodation highlight of the entire trip. The owners deliver service (and entertainment) above what is expected. I could have easily stayed longer.

I had the ribs and they were amazing, fall of the bone tastiness. Attentive staff, large area with varying table options (booths, a seperate room where families can be loud). Recommended, good price, great food.

Vicky and the girls in the kitchen are food goddesses. Stayed for a whole week and tried everything on the menu. Every meal was worthy of a 5 star review. Tom the bartender makes for a great host, very welcoming.they have a wood fire burner,...pool and restaurant or pub seating for dinner. ask Tom for a "DONT ASK" shot but be warned it's not for the faint hearted . Definitely recommend coming here on your journey to/from te anau .You will not be disappointed.More

We were in Mossburn for work and were told about the restaurant. The food, while basic, was very tasty and service was great. The staff were cheerful and friendly. Got food envy when I saw the ribs come out.

We were staying at the hotel the night so also ate dinner at the restaurant. Good menu and the Blue Cod was delicious. The portions were very generous and I had trouble finishing it all. Definitely no room for dessert even though it was available.

We have travelled in whole NZ and this was our worst experience within 6 weeks time! - taste of steak was like it was frozen ages before - all vegetables were frozen ones, which only had to be steamed, nothing is fresh! - mashed potate...is one made of pouder, also not fresh! - hostess very unfriendly! steak was not grilled as expected, hostess didn't show up, although service was informed and promised to inform the kitchen! This is not at all customer friendly!!!! At the end there was not even a discount at all or at least an offered coffee or so...!!! Better go and have your dinner in Te Anau! There are much better places to eat and it only takes you 30-40mins, but it is worth it!More
