Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Coffee and hot chocolate, nice and hot, not Luke warm like some places. Very homely cafe and service. Dropped in for a takeaway drink

Great little diner and shop. We stopped in for our first taste of "real fruit" ice cream. The service was great. The shop also has a nice front porch and side garden area for eating. It was a great roadside stop on our way to...Te Anau.More

Ordered food at counter. As I often do I inserted my card in eftpos machine to save the business the pay wave fee. Explained why I do that to the lady that served me...as doing so another woman behind the counter got her wires crossed...telling me paywave didn't cost me anything (which i knew)..she was pretty abrupt and that interaction alone has put me off returning. I was doing her the favour. Food was ok. The business is forsale...seems their heart isn't in it anymore and it shows.More

I stopped twice to grab a Venison Pie. They have beautiful pastry and a rich sauce with big chunks of venison. A really nice pie - worth stopping in for....the gift shop is great too.

Very Nice cafe and village community store. Staff were very friendly and served a diverse lunch. We had open salmon sandwich and Venison Pie. A nice stop to break our journey. Wife purchased a nice jacket as well. Recommended.

We stopped over for breakfast on our drive from Te Anau to Queenstown, and got the bacon & eggs ($13.50) (scrambled) with toast, and the pancakes with mixed berries, fresh cream, yoghurt & maple syrup ($13.50). The pancakes were so light and fluffy, and the...accompaniments were so delicious that I wolfed down all my pancakes immediately (and I wasn’t even that hungry to begin with). Coffee was good as well. The gift shop also has interesting things to look at while you wait for your food.More

This was our second visit and well worth a repeat. We drove through Easter Monday and they were the only cafe between Queenstown and Te Anau to give up their public holiday to stay open for travellers like us! Delicious coffee! Great variety of snacks,...drinks and ice cream. Such clean and tidy bathrooms, cute gift shop covering everything and every age you could want plus regional info/pamphlet area. Need to mention the lovely ladies too- super friendly. So pleased we stopped!More
