Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Salema is a village with a lot of competition for great fish restaurants and we visited having read the reviews. It was as reviewed, staff were knowledgeable with regard to food and wine. We asked the owner for a recommendation of wine and as seems true of this area he didn't rip into the wallet and his choice was excellent. The wine after tasting is decanted into very classy decanters. We had a tapas for 2 to start which was big and varied enough to have as a light lunch. My wife had seabass with prawns and I had grouba with giant prawn that was tender and massive. How we found room for a sweet I don't know.my wife says that it goes into another stomach, so we ordered a 50%50% to share which was creme brulee and chocolate moose. Wow glad we did.
The bill was extremely reasonable in my opinion and the quality of the service and attention from the staff was well worth leaving a decent tip.
The covid measures were as in the rest of the town perfect. Plan to return next year to the are and will call in again

We came twice to this restaurant and both times the food was excellent. The meat was incredibly soft and delicious, the side dishes were super tasty and the staff friendly and very professional. The restaurant is surrounded by little streets and it’s more or less directly at the beach. I can highly recommend this place.

We ate here as a family and the the food and drink were excellent. I had medallions of fillet steak which were cooked to perfection and we really enjoyed the tapas starter too. The staff were very attentive and friendly and I’d recommend this to anyone wanting a great meal in Selema.

This is the second time I have visited Agua na Boca and the second time I have come away not only feeling replete but happy with the quality of the food and the professional service. The first course was grilled prawns with garlic for me, fish soup for one guest, a fantastic portobello mushroom with goat's cheese for another, and at this stage I have forgotten what the fourth ordered. We were all delighted with our choices. One of my guests and I shared the turbot, which was cooked perfectly. The other two guests were pleased with their dishes: sea bass. The only disappointment was the the vegetables were lacklustre, perhaps a little overcooked. The potatoes were tasty. I would definitely return again.

This is a great restaurant just on the street behind the beach front. The food is very good quality and the service is impeccable. The interior is lovely and great atmosphere.
My son had the fillet steak it was 10/10 husband had the sea bass 10/10 me lamb stew 8/10 ( nothing wrong with it at all but I had tried theirs 😂)
Booking is essential no chance of walk ins’s - we tried.
I have reviwed several restaurants in salema if you want to compare.

During our stay in Salema we tried most of the restaurants. We saved this one for last as it had very good reviews and we were not disappointed. The setting is very charming, set on a relatively quiet side street just a short walk up from the beach, nestled between a few shops and bars. There was a nice laid back ambiance with a casual, but upscale dining aesthetic with plenty of charm. We had the sharing tapas starter which was deliciously packed with flavour. After having had copious amounts of seafood in the previous days, my wife and I both went for the lamb fillet with mint sauce for our mains…wow, it was so tender and juicy and cooked to perfection and perfectly accompanied by a rich Portuguese red wine our waiter recommended from the generous wine menu. For dessert we had profiteroles and one of the most decadent chocolate mousses we’ve ever had. To finish we tried some port which went down a treat. In terms of quality and ambiance it was our favourite meal of the holiday, and that’s saying a lot because we had quite a number of amazing meals out in Salema and the surrounding areas. We’re not foodies, but we do appreciate high quality food and Agua Na Boca definitely delivers this, and all at a very reasonable price point…would have easily paid double the amount for an equivalent meal back home in the UK. We highly recommend this restaurant!!

We ate here 3 times during our 11 night visit. Evening meals must be booked well in advance (earliest we could get was 3 days ahead). Superb food, outstanding service). Probably the best restaurant we visited in the area.

We had a very pleasant, if not exceptional, meal here last week. No complaints at all but ate better elsewhere for less money. What was fantastic, however, was how switched on they were about gluten-free options. The chef is coeliac and switched sauces for my daughter’s fish selection so she could have it. Very very good service.

As regular holiday makers in the area, no trip would be complete without dinner here.
The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and guests can sit comfortably whilst being spoilt rotten by very attentive and professional staff.
The menu is fantastic whether you like fish or meat and has some really different dishes on offer and a wine selection that compliments the good food completely.
If you have children, don't let that fact put you off. The restaurant is very welcoming to all guests regardless of age. My own children rave over the dark chocolate mousse desert. One is never enough for them!

Visited Salema and came to this place recommended by the owner of our B&B. My wife and I split a salad that came with a good 1in thick x 3in round piece of goat cheese on a rocket salad with fig and tomatoes with a house vinaigrette. Outstanding. Home made bread that was crispy on the outside and warm and moist on the inside. I had chicken breast stuffed with sun dried tomatoes with a Gorgonzola cheese sauce. Wife had a huge sea bass. Came with carrots broccoli cauliflower and potatoes. A couple of glasses of wine. Really stuffed. Really good. 52euros. Sometimes I get a little suspicious of places like Salema that get tons of tourists and places might try to take advantage of you. We were both blown away.

Food delicious but make sure you check your reservation! We visited this restaurant in person to book a table. Having been promised a sea view table we arrived on the night of our reservation to be told that we must be mistaken and shown to another table. I know this was not a mistake as I had been shown the table when I booked. Maybe a simple misunderstanding or maybe giving preference to other diners. But honestly would have been preferable Who knows. Either way it spoiled our experience which was a shame as food was delicious and service very good.

I first came here oh ten years or so ago and it blew me away at that time. Although other eateries have caught up, it is still a very polished performer. Very good service, a smart ambience and an excellent selection of good wines at around the 30 euros a bottle mark, which is very reasonable. The seafood selection is limited, the fillet steak very good and cooked exactly as requested. Interestingly steak in Portugal isn't as "dense" as in Britain, so it's a different animal really (excuse the pun please!). Unusually you receive "normal" vegetables....potatoes rather than chips and a mix of cauliflower, broccoli and mange tout. A home cooking feel but of better quality. Very reasonable pricing, amongst the cheapest of our trip and a smarter feel to the locale. Do please try the walnut ice cream....wow!

I happened to bump into this restaurant by chance, and.. I was very lucky! One of the best dinners I had in Portugal so far.
No touristy stuff, no obvious dishes: everything very good, accurate, elegant and surprising. Good wine selection.
I had the fish soup, a wildboar filet with a Port wine reduction, and a flambé fig dessert with almond icecream on the side. Everything worth the visit.

What a great restaurant ! The gentleman who served us was professional, helpful and very pleasant. It is a smart restaurant with some extra special touches like lovely, unusual glasses and cutlery. Our fresh fish of the day was delicious. One of the group was vegan and they had created a really lovely vegan dish for her.

We had the pleasure of experiencing a wonderful dinner with great service and truly delicious food. Related to Boia Bar (next door), this is the "finer dining" of the two. Very complete menu and nice wine list. A shout out to the hard working staff-- very attentive and accommodating (multi-lingual).
Clearly a locals hangout. And why not. Great food. Great service. Great place to be!
