Between the four of us, we had steak, scallops, lobster and lamb. All were cooked to perfection, except the small filet that came with the scallops, which was more well done than medium. Our server noticed it before the person who had ordered it, and whisked it away for a replacement. The new piece was actually a bigger cut, done perfectly, and delivered by the manager who also offered free dessert for the inconvenience! SUPER restaurant, will be back!

My son is a relatively new local, but had never eaten here. On Labor Day, his favorite steak place was closed - something we didn’t find out until we arrived. They don’t take reservations. JG’s does, but we didn’t have them. Dined at the bar, a first for this almost 70 year old. Stella on tap. A great start. Appetizer of pretzel encrusted onion rings (another first) were some of the best ever! My wife’s ribeye was a solid 10, as was our son’s lamb. I had a scallop dish that was unsurpassed. Living near San Diego, having traveled the Pacific coast extensively and spent time on the Gulf Coast, I hardly expected one of my best seafood experiences to be in the Midwest!

Au gratin potatoes are fabulous. Seafood platter was great! Shrimp and scallops are my favorite items on the mixed seafood platter. Loaf of bread was fresh and tasty. Chicken dinner was very good.

We took advantage of a birthday offer I received. The to go ordering process was smooth as was the pickup. The staff I interacted with was professional and nice. However, the $23 lobster Mac and cheese was a huge disappointment. There may have been a teaspoon of small bits of lobster total. The only way you could tell that lobster was in it was the bonus shell. Overall flavor was just ok. For $23 it should have been outstanding. The scallop dinner with lobster risotto was also a disappointment, scallops were seared on one side and a few were undercooked. While the lobster risotto was flavorful, the lobster could not be seen or tasted. As it was my birthday, the disappointment was extra hard.
The bread was good - the best part of the meal. I will be thinking twice about buying gift cards going forward.

My husband and I had begun buying a meal from J Gilbert's on a more frequent basis instead of just birthday, anniversary, etc. There are things are the menu we truly enjoyed. We had called in and placed our order for my milestone birthday dinner. My husband's was fine, but my scallops were very sandy. (This was not the norm.) I called J Gilbert's and left a message. Days went by and I had heard nothing; so I called again, thinking maybe they got busy and forgot. Once again, I received no call back. After three weeks, I called again and requested the manager. I indicated that I had left several messages, as well as emailed, but had received no response. I told him that I had purchased the lobster risotto with seared scallops and in the past, they were delicious; however, this particular time they were very sandy. I gave him the date and time of when we came to the restaurant to pick up our order. He said that he would investigate it. It's been several weeks since my conversation with him and like the other scenarios, I have scenarios for callback, no apology or anything. I am highly disappointed for several reasons: we loved the food and had replaced another restaurant with them. Most importantly, sandy scallops show a lack of cleaning them properly; which is a significant and possible health matter. So the calvalier actions have been most disappointing and below below expectations of a fine-dining restaurant. A little courtesy would have went far; yet this affected my feelings and level of their concern for the customers. Thus due to this particular experience, I can't give a positive rating.

This was a good choice for dinner after a late afternoon movie. The Manhattan cocktail was outstanding. The prix fix menu offered good selections. The crab bisque was very good, and the Caesar salad actually had real anchovies on it. Lamb entree was outstanding. Ask for Sarah, she was a very good server.

WE LOVE J. GILBERTS, Des Peres!! This is our “go-to” date night restaurant. Steaks are top notch, the service is amazing and the au gratin potatoes... wow.. you will never order a baked potato again. Nicki and Scott are wonderful servers and always make our experience special. Treat yourself to J Gilberts!

We were visiting St. Louis and this restaurant had been recommended for an excellent meal well-served. This restaurant did NOT disappoint. Or server, Monica, was experienced and skillful. A question raised by the kitchen was smoothly handled and staff worked well together. We all look forward to returning. The Filet, Baked Potato, and Grilled Shrimp were especially good.

We love this place and have been going there since it opened. They are affiliated with Bristol so you will see some commonality in the two menus. Great happy hour food pricing. We enjoy their appetizers and love the sliders. Steaks are delish too. One of our favorites is the Seafood sampler. And love their bread and pastrami butter.

I went here for the first time on Valentines day and ordered an assortment of food. Everything was great. I ordered the oysters Rockefeller, it was my first time trying the dish. I will say it won't be my last. This restaurant did not disappoint. Happy I tried it.

$$$$. By far the best Steak I’ve had all year . Ribeye steak special done to perfection. Seafood tower was plentiful, fresh and delicious. Service was excellent. A very good experience.

We were visiting a relative in the St. Louis area and went to celebrate a special birthday. It was fabulous! The steaks were cooked and seasoned to perfection and the au gratin potatoes were unbelievably good! Our server, Monica, was excellent in every way - attentive, personable, knowledgeable, efficient. Birthday dessert at the end was a nice surprise and great way to end our fantastic evening.

The food was good but not great and at a reasonable price for the money. The staff was more friendly than professional. The dining room was loud and busy in a good way but the room was a bit cold. The bar space looked great to be with a group.
