Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The food is great, the service is excellent (Rachel took great care of us and was especially attentive to special requests), and we will definitely go here again even though we live a distance away.

Made reservations to celebrate our 50th Valentine Wedding Anniversary. Busy night but we were well taken care of. Lovely special menu for the night. Lobster fritters for starters. Scallops, swordfish and Beef Wellington to name a few entree choices. The latter was tender and delicious...and an obvious favorite among the diners. Friendly servers who make you forget how busy it is all around you. Luscious dessert choices as well.More

I stopped in for a "quick lunch" at this wonderful Mattapoisett restaurant. However, the food and atmosphere were so inviting that I stayed for a bit longer than I intended. I had the freshly brewed iced tea, followed by their lobster roll (one of the...best I've had, seasoned perfectly) and pineapple cake for dessert. Everything was delicious, and my server was delightful. I look forward to returning, this time with friends and family.More

Sunday brunch is special. Start with cinimin buns with cream cheese dressing. Special menus always includes a special bennidic, a super granola parfait, an unusual omelette as well as an extensive regular menu. With all the excellent selections the cinimun bum starter may be to...much. We love it.More

Very impressed with chef that came to our table to inquire about my gluten allergy. Gave me info about the menu and what was gluten free. The food was delicious and everybody in our party enjoyed their food. We were seated in their side room...which is nice and quiet. Would definitely visit again.More

My husband and I came here for dinner on October 5. Our cocktails (a dry martini and one of their specials - a pear martini) were delicious - one of the best we have ever had (and we dine out a lot!). My husband had...a cup of cl am chowder - chock full of clams, etc. For an entree my husband had the seafood trio and I had the filet mignon. We shared a piece of chocolate cake with orange buttercream frosting - it was very moist and full of flavor. Our meal was so outstanding we couldn’t stop thinking about it and we are anxious to return. We have been to Tastebuds several times - for lunch, dinner, and even breakfast - and have never been disappointed.More

This was my first trip to Tastebuds, but I won't go back. While the food was good, the appetizer came out at the same time as the meals. They were out of the beer and wine that we ordered on a Saturday night. The hostess...did not welcome my friend when she went inside to see if there was a table for our party. Finally, just before we got up to leave (just before 10 PM), they turned the lights out in the little room where we were dining. Unfortunately, all the service negatives outweighed a pretty decent, though not exceptional, meal. Spend your money elsewhere.More

My wife and I were visiting Mattapoisett for a wedding and ate lunch here on Sat. June 23. It was easy to find with plenty of parking. The decor was comfortable and up-to-date. We split a bowl of clam chowder. My wife had the cobb...salad which was very good. I had the fried haddock which was also very good, fresh and tasty. Our server was also very good, she is the daughter of the owner.More

Tastebuds is a local restaurant that has a nice menu with multiple fish options. We started with the steamed clams which cooked perfectly but were seasoned with a little to much pepper flake. I had The bouillabaisse and my wife had the halibut. We both...enjoyed our meals but again, mine was over seasoned with red pepper flakes. The broth was good but hard to overcome the pepper. The only real knock was the service. Josh disappeared for a short time and I caught him texting while we waited for him to bring our check. After leaving the check he returned 20 minutes later and apologized for not coming back earlier. We will definitely go back, but ask for a different server and a little less pepper.More

I want to truly love this restaurant. It has so much going for it, but the meal itself is where I have trouble. Very much enjoy the cozy, warm atmosphere, convenient location, great staff, wonderful coffee. One lunch, my husband's quiche of the day was...dry, Another time, my sandwich was dry. Most recently, the day after St. Patrick's I was thrilled that they had their corned beef dinner on the menu - the corned beef was fabulous, the carrots and cabbage yummy, however, the potatoes were so very dry, and there was no 'broth"/cooking liquid on the plate to moisten things up. My husband's Monte Cristo sandwich was dry, too. A small container of sauce served with it was unidentifiable by taste and too thick to be of any use. After our server told us it was 'cheese sauce', the lady dining at the next table leaned over to say she had not been able to identify it (or eat it) either. Having been several times for lunch and brunch, I am reluctant to risk their more ambitious and expensive dinners. My experience is they are better than 'Average', but not 'Very Good'. So many people love Tastebuds, Wish I could, too.More

When my husband and I go out to eat, we try to avoid chain restaurants, preferring to support eateries owned by locals. If you feel the same way, you should try Tastebuds in Mattapoisett, MA not only if you live in the area but also...if you are heading towards or leaving Cape Cod on Route 195 since the restaurant is a short drive off the highway. The restaurant is small, but that just adds to the friendly, cozy atmosphere. After a few weeks of weather so cold that we barely went outside, we finally had a beautiful, seasonable winter day and decided to venture out to eat, and we chose Tastebuds. We had a late lunch and first treated ourselves for special drinks, a Cosmopolitan for me and a Margarita for my husband. Our delightful server, Taylor, also made our drinks, and although the Cosmo was very good, the Margarita was exceptional. The lunch menu had many dishes we wanted to try, but I decided on baked haddock, and my husband had seared scallops. We could not have made better choices. My fish was flaky and tender and topped with seasoned cracker crumbs, just the way I like it. My husband could not stop talking about his scallops seared in white wine. As we left the restaurant and praised the meals to the owner, she told us that her husband was a fisherman and gets the freshest seafood available. We could definitely tell. If you enjoy seafood or have not had good experiences with it in the past, Tastebuds is the place to go. Taylor, our server, was efficient and her timing perfect. Many times, restaurants will serve smaller portions at lunch time, but our plates were definitely dinner sized portions. When we saw the amount of food, we thought we would be bringing home leftovers to have later. However, the food was so amazing that both of us cleaned our plates, including the rice and stir fried mixed veggies that were cooked to perfection. We did not have dessert, but the owner told us that all items on the dessert menu are made in house. If our lunch was any indication, the desserts would be delectable. We had been to Tastebuds for Sunday brunch and shared the homemade cinnamon roll, and it was worth every calorie. By the way, the Sunday brunch is incredible—a definite must try.More

I think it depends on what time you get there if you want to bring children. It is very small with a bar so the earlier, the better.
