Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Wakefield Bakery has some of the most happy, friendly, helpful staff you will find anywhere. AND the pies, particularly THE CHICKEN PIES, not just the best in New Zealand, LOOK they are the best in the world.

We knew this was going to be good by the fact there was a queue of people waiting to get in. Excellent selection of pies and amazing sweets. We came back three times in four days. The chicken pie was fantastic as was steak and...kidney. On the last visit I couldn't decide between them so had both! Pies were all stuffed full and the pastry was especially good. Excellent coffee each time too.More

Witnessed an histerical and neurotic staff member being screaming at a customer because she had a mask exemption. Disgusting!!! Never will I go there.

We found this place on the way past and were delighted that they still had a range of food mid-afternoon. And lamb's fry and bacon in a pie! Large chinks of meat and bacon - and the best gravy ever!

Just had what would have to be the best Steak and Kidney pie ever. Chock full of lovely steak and lots of big bits of kidney - with a slightly peppery gravy. Magnificent!

The pie competitions have missed this wonderful bakery. One will never find a better pie anywhere regardless of the nation competitions hugging most of the winners in the North island. Make an effort and go and try some of the best wares on this planet.

Terrific quality pies, and great baking and well as coffee, tea, hot chocolate etc. Off street parking, so pull up as you drive through town.

Was recommended to go here by two people and it did not disappoint. An unassuming little bakery off to the side, had DELICIOUS pies, good coffee and a good place to stop off and sit outside in the sun. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Really good pies. My husband said it’s the best steak and cheese pie he had for a long time. I tried the bacon and egg pie and I wish I have the recipe to make them :)
