Drinks in the garden - lovely cottage garden feel overlooking a sunny Autumn countryside. Lunch in the conservatory - doors open - lovely fresh air feel. Staff delightful. Food - well it was everything you would expect from a Michelin Plate restaurant - a lovely...mix of tastes, textures and colours, beautifully presented. We drove from about 90 minutes away simply to experience Orwells - and it was well worth it. Thanks!More

As a family who own an eatery, I am super mindful of the impact reviews can have, especially in this current climate. However, when I saw £300+ on my bank statement, it compounded the thoughts I harbored since the meal, namely that I expected a...lot more for that sort of money - which is Michelin star territory. Please keep in mind that we had one glass of fizz and soft drinks. The meat/fish dinner was good, very tasty and some stand out courses, such as the lamb, the lobster and the sorrel pud. However, there was an over reliance on the same ingredients and garnishes, sea cucumber was a common theme. Overall I was happy but the cost is excessive in my view. The vegetarian option was unacceptable for the price, which was the same as the meat/fish menu. I’ve not seen this elsewhere and when one of the courses was exactly the same as mine, but without the caviar and most courses were just vegetables, which whilst tasty, it’s hard to take and not overly inventive. I had high hopes but I will not return and would struggle to recommend, given the cost and the lack of attention to vegetarians. Don’t get me wrong, it is a restaurant’s prerogative to focus on meat/fish but if so, don’t charge the same for vegetables, which do not cost the same as Wagyu or Lobster! I wish I had said something on the night but it is difficult, you also need adequate time to digest, literally and figuratively.More

I like Orwells as it is a cosy place to go with excellent food. It is unfortunate it takes us 45 minutes to get there on a good day but we still go from time to time. There is parking right at the front for...a reasonable number of cars. We like going for tasting menus when we eat in restaurants offering them as they enable you to get a good range of what the restaurant does and the dishes tend be more inventive, as they are Orwells. There are some really excellent and different food combinations. Service is good and friendly and for what you get it is a fair price. I would certainly recommend.More

We visited Orwells for a birthday lunch and absolutely loved it! We started our meal with a glass of champagne in the very pretty garden with lots of lovely flowers overlooking fields. We opted for the tasting menu, every course was absolutely delicious and really...appreciated the very relaxed pacing of the meal, we didn't feel rushed at all and took our time savouring the beautifully prepared dishes. The service was very friendly.More

A visit to a restaurant off this quality should be an overall experience. On this, our first time here, it failed. It was a beautiful sunny day and not surprisingly all patrons wanted to sit outside on the well spaced out tables. Why was the...garden such a mess? The grass badly needed cutting and the flower beds needed a lot of attention. It was because we had travelled from Essex and were meeting up with friends that we did not just find another restaurant in Henley or Marlow. Also disappointing was that we were not asked if we would like to order sides of vegetables and assumed vegetables of the day would be served. The Peeking Duck, which was excellent was served with just a 'decoration' of onion and beetroot. When questioned the waiter said that's how it comes. We ordered some vegetable and then had to wait whilst the duck became look warm before they arrived. Having waited a few days before posting this review, I feel it is justified. Maybe we were just unfortunate on that day, but that was our experience.More

We treated ourselves to the Tasting Menu as it was a special occasion and it did not disappoint. A lovely combination of food theatre and taste sensations. We thought the service was perfect, we were not rushed and the staff were attentive. Each and every...dish was perfectly cooked and presented. The tables were well spaced so it had ambience without being too aware of conversations on other tables. It isn’t for those on a budget but it was certainly a wonderful treat and we will return.More

Orwells 5 June, 2021 A veritable cornucopia of interestingly conceived and original dishes worthy of a higher ranking from the French tyremaker. Although Arnaud, the excellent front of house manager and sommelier, does his utmost, the newly recruited, post-covid staff are not quite up to...speed and there were longer gaps between the 10 dishes on the Taste the Season menu than would normally be considered acceptable, which resulted in our arrival to departure sojourn lasting well over four hours.More

1st time I'd seen my Mum in 9 months so we decided to celebrate and come here for lunch. It did not disappoint! Beautiful location, lovely interior, really friendly and knowledgable staff, all abiding by very careful Covid regulations. And most importantly ... absolutely amazing...food! Can't remember the last time I had food that tasted this good. Everything tasted so fresh and was cooked to perfection. The portions were just right for lunch too. We had a unique 'smoked ploughmans' starter, then turbot & lamb & chocolate puddings. I can highly recommend them all. We will remember this meal for a very long time to come. Not for those in a tight budget, but worth every penny for a special occasion. Merci bien. A la prochaine!More

I don't think baby changing facilities are available but you should phone to check, as they may have a changing pad in the disabled toilet.

There is indeed a disabled access WC at Orwells. Please do let us know whenever making a reservation if you require the use of it. I do hope this helps.
