Of course my stop was during the height of the covid pandemic and the states requirements may have lessened my experience here. The food was very good and priced similar to other Asian cuisine. But, It’s a very odd place to find a Japanese Restaurant,...in Cut Off, Louisiana that is. The restaurant is a metal building that sits is an open field attached to a casino bar. Inside the Covid partitions are clear plastic sheathing and the decore is more of an new and very clean Chinese take out. Anything you would find on an American style Japanese restaurant’s menu you can find here. It seems the Hibachi area was closed and everything was served in single serve dinner wear. The service was ultra fast and the food was food was of a good value. I started out with pan fried gyoza. They were crispy, brown, and deep fried. I tried a spicy tuna sushi roll with soy paper. It was a small roll with only tuna and rice. It seems more and more restaurants are going with a chopped tuna spread and moving away from chucks of fresh tuna at this price point, the ginger and wasabi was also sized down. I finished off the meal with General tso chicken dinner which was covered in a red, overly sweet but very spicy sauce. I was happy to find a Restaurant that serves General Tso spicy. The chicken was cooked crispy in a thin crispy corn starch batter and not in puffy tempura batter. A clear soup with noodles, a side salad with ginger dressing was also served along with fried rice. The fried rice reminded me of hibachi style rice and not golden fried in a wok. The sauces were good, however including the ginger dressing, gyoza dip, and neon red general Tso all seemed over sweet, pre prepared restaurant supply. Over all I felt cheated by covid restrictions and did not discount their points for that, But if you have a need for sushi you can order the small rolls or the larger dinner rolls and feel satisfied with the taste and the price.More
