A real gourmet gem in a village surrounded by industrial logistics zones. We were pleasantly welcomed by the owner Madeleina, a gifted chef who combines flavors, who dares to revisit the classics with the right products. A short menu with 4 starters, 4 main courses (meat and fish) 3 desserts, where everything is cooked on site, good cooking skills and all well presented. A huge choice of wines selected by the owner. We feasted.
For excellent value for money.
Adjoining the restaurant, a wine sales cellar, tasting room where themed tasting evenings are offered with 250 references of wines from Portugal.
10 minutes from the north Lisbon Porto motorway exit on N3

Have you heard the one about the physicist, specialising in Radon, that invested into a restaurant in Azambuja? Well that is one of the many stories that Tasco da Ilda has to offer.
From the quirky gold cutlery, to the vividly colourful art on the walls to the incredible food and wonderful service, this restaurant delivers the unexpected and all of it positive. Their English is also superb!
We were warmly welcomed by Ruis “The Physicist” after an impromptu visit the evening before when they were fully booked. As non-meat eaters there were fabulous fish dishes, incredible vegetables and delicious cheese starters for us all to enjoy. The fresh orange juice was instantly refreshing prior to the meal and the chocolate moose simply unbeatable at the end.
You have to go up to the North of Portugal to find Radon and it is not at all good for your health. Tasco da Ilda is merely a 35-40 minute drive North of Lisbon and the food is incredibly good for your health whilst the value for money menu will also not harm your finances.
Radon might well be situated at number 86 in the Periodic Table and will forever remain there, Tasco da Ilda will fast be climbing the Restaurant Guide to #1. That I am certain of.
Make sure to book in advance and enjoy what is on offer from this absolute gem of a place.

Kindness of the waitress who, after picking up our order, invited us to visit their cellar where the owners took us on a 'journey' through Portuguese wines with a noteworthy welcome.
The raw materials, expertly processed by Maddalena's hands are of excellent quality. The homemade hamburger, rich in meat, has a balanced onion note that makes it unique, In the Torricado of cod we can appreciate the ancient technique of enriching grilled bread with oil and salt, expertly repurposed, ready to welcome a fresh cod made interesting, but light, by tasty aromas. With the three pigs will arrive three types of pork roasted to perfection with crispy crust and finally, flying over the delicious fried olives and potatoes so different from the usual to conquer anyone, you can not miss the crispy ball of beef. A meatball with a crisp veil that encloses a tender meat whose aromas will create an explosion of flavors so delicate as to enrapture the taste buds. And finally crispy spheres with curd lemon with an Italian maringue flambè and an extraordinary acorn liqueur.
I am from the industry and I strongly Recommendation you to go and try this restaurant which, for the moment, is the best I have tried in Portugal. Good.

This is the best place in the district of Lisbon!!
You will undoubtedly find the best gastronomic experience in a beautiful space, a super delicious, well-presented, unpretentious authors kitchen that makes us travel by a letter with endless suggestions each more appetizing than the other.
The bottle is amazing and the wines super well chosen and suggested according to our gastronomic choice. The chef Madalena Dias, guides us along the menu and suggests the dishes to taste/share, while attentively, the friendly Rui guides us through the wines.
Undoubtedly repeating unceasingly! Since the card is “refreshed” regularly with new dishes and the bottle with new nectars.
Congratulations for the work developed boldly and especially for being outside the tourist area of Lisbon!
Good for courage, persistence and resilience.
Take off your hat!

Very attentive employees, excellent food. It's worth ordering different dishes and everyone sharing. Starters, in this case croquettes, divine. Very friendly and very attentive chef, at the end of the night he came to say hello, wanting to hear any and all comments we wanted to share. We will definitely return

Excellent space, very well decorated and comfortable.
We shared several dishes and they were all very well prepared and excellently presented.
There are no words to describe the excellence of the croquettes. We also loved the woodpecker, tiborna and shrimp.
The detail of going to the winery to choose the wine is delicious.
the exemplary staff. Very friendly and available. Finally, the Chef visited our table with whom we exchanged a few words and promised to return because it is one of those places where we feel very welcome and with excellent cuisine.

Very welcoming restaurant and typical ribatejano.
We were very well welcomed by Rui and Chef Madalena, who took us to the National Winery advising a wine (Cambio) typically ribatejano and different and quite characteristic.
We gave entry with a chamber croquet (toiro) and chorus with honey, rosemary and thyme. I confess we asked the choir with curiosity to taste this honeymoon wedding with choir. I highly recommend.
Then we were served with a nice costeleton (does for two people) which was super juicy and on the right spot. It comes accompanied by homemade fries and a salad.
To conclude, my friend finished our beautiful dinner with the dessert.
I highly recommend

The owner greeted us at the door of the restaurant whilst looking at that menu in the afternoon, although fully booked for the evening she managed to squeeze us in and promised to translate the Portuguese menu to us. On arrival the staff were very attentive and talked us through the menu the food was absolutely delicious all cooked fresh the side dish with the fried egg wow amazing . The belly pork was done to perfection. The owner /chef then came over to see if everything was ok after finishing our meal. What a cracking place this is. Thank you.

A temple of good cooking in Azambuja. The young Portuguese cuisine is to congratulate. The space is small and worth booking. Everything is very well presented and tasty. In the annex there is a wine shop where they introduce us to various wines and give us suggestions to accompany the meal.

One of the best restaurant experiences of my almond 60 years.
Met by the chef , who was so friendly and helpful. Discussed gluten free adaptations , although most menu options were gluten free.
Food was awesome , with many unique delicious items .
We followed their wine suggestion , trying an incredible local wine which cost 14 euros.
Meal was a fraction the price of one in the UK , and substantially better.

It all starts with the sympathy with which you answer the phone to make a reservation. An anniversary, 17 people, a suggestion made for a menu selected by the Chief. The sympathy for the phone overrides the way we are received. In a small room that arrived for everyone to be comfortable. And the food... after all we came to Tasco da Ilda for lunch. From imagination and creativity, to careful but unpretentious presentation, we reach the refined flavors. From baked olives to chocolate musse, there were several surprises for the palate. All very good! And to close... more sympathy in such a cordial way as they let us feel at home in congratulations to you, since it was a celebration lunch! We are very grateful to the team!

Space, very welcoming and without losing the family atmosphere and tradition. Excellent choices of wines with a magnificent idea of space cellar. The dishes were delicious and creative in the combination of flavors and tradition. We expect to come back with more friends and try other delicacies from the menu. Congratulations to everyone!

We were 8 persons and only speaking English, but the owner and cook was very welcoming and speaks English very well.
The place is cosy and full of history.
The service was reasonably quick and the staff is very friendly and available.
The cook and owner is very passionated and wants us to discover her world and history. This is translated into her food but also into the decoration of the restaurant.
The food is meant to be shared with friends or family, and it’s a good thing as you may want to order the whole menu.
We let the cook choose the food for us and we were not disappointed at all. All is fresh and cooked with passion. There are enough various items to please everyone and everything we had was very enjoyable!
I cannot not recommend it if you want to discover local food and the cook’s history.

We walked 25km off the Camino from Alhandra to Azambuja and arrived in this amazing restaurant for lunch. We were very well looked after from the moment we arrived and enjoyed great drinks and great food and chatted with Maria Magdalena, the owner, who told us about the back story to the restaurant. We tried to book for an evening meal but sadly they were closed for the evening. Magdalena helped us book another restaurant but came back shortly afterwards and invited us to her late mothers house where she would cook for us. Wow! What an amazing opportunity. We were picked up and driven out to the countryside to the location and entertained by Magdalena and her husband Rui. We had the most amazing food, goats cheeses, padron peppers, chorizo, cuttle fish, tuna, steak, monk fish livers and so much more all washed down with wonderful local wine. Magdalena used local fresh ingredients including the wine which made the meal even more special. At the end of the evening we were dropped back to our hotel full off lovely food and wine having had a memorable experience. What can I say? Wow! Wow! Wow!

We arrived at Tasco da Ilda hot and tired after a day walking the Camino. It was like an Oasis with a wide range of beers (we can recommend Bohemia) and of course Sangria. Having come back to life we ordered food and were in for such a treat. As a vegetarian I often feel hard done by but I had many dishes to choose from. I opted for the mushrooms and the sauce they was amazing.
The staff were all friendly and attentive and the passion of the owner shone through.
I just wish we were here for another day to try out more of the menu.
